  • The recursive formulae, which can self-reproduce the state transition graphs, of one-dimensional cellular automata rule 15 with two states (0 and 1) and four different boundary conditions were founded by categorical access. The categorical access makes the evolution process for cellular automata be expressed easily since it enables the mapping of automata between different domains.

  • This paper describes qualities of a library classification system that are commonly discussed in the LIS tradition and literature, and explains such a system’s three main functions, namely knowledge mapping, information retrieval, and shelf arrangement. In this vein, the paper states the functional requirements of bibliographic classifications, which broadly are subject collocation and facilitation of browsing the collection. It explains with details the components of a library classification system and their functions. The major components are schedules, notations, and index. It also states their distinguished features, such as generalia class, form divisions, book numbers, and devices for number synthesis which are not required in a knowledge classification. It illustrates with examples from the WebDewey good examples of added features of an online library classification system. It emphasizes that institutional backup and a revision machinery are essential for a classification to survive and remain relevant in the print and e-environment.

  • This study explores the limitation in making a causal model through an existing case and proposes an alternative plan to improve a theoretical system of causation modeling. To make a dynamic and actual model, several principles are needed such as reality based analysis of system structures and dynamics, consistent expression of causations, conversion of numerical formulas to causal relations, classification and arrangement of variables by size of concept, etc. However, it is hard to find cases to apply these considerations from existing models in System Dynamics. Therefore, this study verifies errors of derived models from literatures and proposes principles and guides that should be considered to make a sound dynamic model on a causal map. It contributes to making an opportunity for exciting public opinion to improve theory about causal maps, yet it has limitation that the study does not advance forward to the experimental step. For future study, it plans to make up by classifying and leveling causal variables, developing a dynamic BSC model.

  • In the present study, domain evolution processes of a near-morphotropic PZT ceramic during poling was studied using vertical piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). To perform macroscopic poling in bulk polycrystalline PZT, poling was carried out in a stepwise fashion, and PFM scan was performed after unloading the electric field. To identify the crystallographic orientation and planes for the observed non-$180^{\circ}$ domain walls in the PFM images, compatibility theory and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) were used in conjunction with PFM. Accurate registration between PFM and the EBSD image quality map was carried out by mapping several grains on the sample surface. A herringbone-like domain pattern consisting of two sets of lamellae was observed; this structure evolved into a single set of lamellae during the stepwise poling process. The mechanism underlying the observed domain evolution process was interpreted as showing that the growth of lamellae is determined by the potential energy associated with polarization and an externally applied electric field.

  • Rainfall is one of the major and complicated elements of hydrologic system. Accurate prediction of rainfall is very important to mitigate storm damage. The neural network is a good model to be applied for the classification problem, large combinatorial optimization and nonlinear mapping. In this dissertation, rainfall predictions by the neural network theory were presented. A multi-layer neural network was constructed. The network learned continuous-valued input and output data. The network was used to predict rainfall. The online, multivariate, short term rainfall prediction is possible by means of the developed model. A multidimensional rainfall generation model is applied to Seoul metropolitan area in order to generate the 10-minute rainfall. Application of neural network to the generated rainfall shows good prediction. Also application of neural network to 1-hour real data in Seoul metropolitan area shows slightly good predictions.

  • Circular slab waveguides are conformally mapped into straight waveguides. In the outer cladding region with monotonically increasing index profile, modified Airy functions (MAF) of traveling-wave form are introduced to express the leaky mode. Field distributions and losses calculated by the proposed method are compared with those obtained by the WKB (Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) method. Detailed numerical examples are presented and compared with the conventional WKB methods, demonstrating our method not only allows a converging field at turning points but also guarantees fine accuracy.

  • The total relaxed stress in annealing and the thermal strain/stress were obtained from the identification of the residual stress-free state using electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI). The residual stress fields in case of both single and film / substrate systems were modeled using the thermo-elastic theory and the relationship between relaxed stresses and displacements. We mapped the surface residual stress fields on the indented bulk Cu and the 0.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ Au film by ESPI. In indented Cu, the normal and shear residual stress are distributed over -1.7 GPa to 700 MPa and -800 GPa to 600 MPa respectively around the indented point and in deposited Au film on Si wafer, the tensile residual stress is uniformly distributed on the Au film from 500 MPa to 800 MPa. Also we measured the residual stress by the x-ray diffractometer (XRD) for the verification of above residual stress results by ESPI...

  • This study focuses on the risk management of "Digital Goods" appeared with the progress of information technology(IT) in international transaction. As a result of that digital goods have a lot of uncertainty between the general goods or service which have been deal with object of international transaction broadly because digital goods hold uniqueness. In this study, the author give a definition of "Digital Goods" and make an examination of uniqueness of that in international transaction. Next, six risks are defined base on risk theory and risk analysis matrix applying risk mapping model is made. Conclusionally, risk transfer as insurance is adequate to manage business risk, security risk, credit risk and legal risk. Meanwhile, risk avoidance is adequate to manage reputation risk and market risk. But, this study have following three limits. Firstly, concerning definition of the risk, real case is not applied owing to lack of transaction data. Secondly, measuring of the risk is not based on absolute data but relative data. Lastly, suggesting way of risk management is not concrete and practical to international trader of digital goods.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the use of fuzzy set theory for image processing and analysis. As an application example, the fuzzy method of edge detection is proposed to extract the edges of raised characters on tires. In general, Sobel, Prewitt, Robert and LoG filters are used to detect the edge, but it is difficult to detect the edge because of ambiguity of representations, noise and general problems in the interpretation of tire image. Therefore, in his paper, the fuzzy property plane has been extracted from the spatial domain using the ramp-mapping function. And then the ideas of fuzzy MIN and MAX are applied in removing noise and enhancement of the image simultaneously. From the result of MIN and MAX procedure a new fuzzy singleton is generated by extracting the difference between adjacent membership function values. And the edges are extracted by applying fuzzy $\alpha$-cut set to the fuzzy singletion, Finally, these ideas are applied to the tire images.

  • In 2007, Huang and Zhang [1] introduced a cone metric space with a cone metric generalizing the usual metric space by replacing the real numbers with Banach space ordered by the cone. They considered some fixed point theorems for contractive mappings in cone metric spaces. Since then, the fixed point theory for mappings in cone metric spaces has become a subject of interest in [1-6] and references therein. In this paper, we consider some fixed point theorems for generalized nonexpansive setvalued mappings under suitable conditions in sequentially compact cone metric spaces and complete cone metric spaces.
