  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of Image Making Programs on image making efficacy, positive thinking, self-esteem, and nursing professionalism in nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were 124 nursing students at two universities, and were assigned to the treatment group (n=62) or the comparison group (n=62). The treatment was the Image Making Program, which was held twice over 2 days for 120 minutes per session. Data were collected from August to September 2012, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smironov test, ${\chi}^2$-test, independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, one-tailed Mann-Whitney U test, independent one-tailed t-test with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Nursing students in the treatment group showed statistically significantly higher levels of image making efficacy, positive thinking, and nursing professionalism than those in the comparison group. Conclusion: The results indicate that the Image Making Program is an effective intervention for increasing image making efficacy, positive thinking, and nursing professionalism in nursing students. However, further research and practices are needed in this area.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of proprioceptive exercise on walking velocity, activities of daily living(ADL) and depression in elderly women. This study was nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Subjects were divided into two group(exercise group=17, control group=15). Experimental group conducted proprioceptive exercise program for eight-week. Walking velocity was assessed by 10m-walk test and depression and ADL were assessed by questionnaire. The collected data analyzed by Wilcoxon singed rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. The exercise group significantly improved walking velocity. But control group changes were negligible. The program was effective on walking in elderly women.

  • The Non-parametric Analysis is powerful in data test especially for the non- normality water quality data. The data at three monitoring stations of the Tam-Jin River were evaluated for their normality using Skewness, Q-Q plot and Shapiro-Willks tests. Various constituent of water quality data including temperature, pH, DO, SS, BOD, COD, TN and TP in the period of January 1994 to December 2004 were used as dataset. Shapiro-Willks normality test was carried out for a test 5% significance level. Most water quality data except DO at monitoring stations 1 and 2 showed that data does not normally distributed. It is indicating that non-parametric method must be used for a water quality data. Therefore, a homogeneity was conducted by Mann-Whitney U test (p<0.05). Two stations were paired in three pairs of such stations. Differences between stations 1, 2 and stations 1, 3 for pH, BOD, COD, TN and TP were meaningful, but Tam-Jin 2 and 3 stations did not meaningful. In addition, a narrow gap of the water quality ranges is not a difference. Categories in which all three pairs of stations (1 and 2, 2 and 3, 1 and 3) in the Tam-Jin River showed difference in water quality were analyzed on TN and TP. The results of in this research suggest a right analysis in the homogeneity test of water quality data and a reasonable management of pollutant sources.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare student evaluation methods in team based learning classes for dental hygiene students. The subjects of this study were the score of dental hygiene students who took the courses of 'oral health education practice'. The analysis methods were spearman correlation analysis, skewness, kurtosis and Mann-Whitney U test. As a result, there was a significant correlation between the self-evaluation and peer-evaluation. Self-evaluation showed lenience tendency rather than peer-evaluation and self-evaluation found the highest central tendency. The peer-evaluation result was more lenience and more central in the group where self-evaluation was performed.

  • This study used three types of survey, an anxiety for practice, a career decision making self-efficacy, and a career decision level for students majoring in language rehabilitation in college in order to provide an effective guide for practice and career decision. By using 18.0 SPSS statistic package, the data has examined with Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni test based on student's grade, academic record and practice duration. The result of study is as follows. First, based on grade, students showed significant differences on several subfactors of the anxiety for practice and the level of career decision-making. Second, based on an academic point and practice duration, there were significantly different in several subfactors of the anxiety for practice, the career decision-making self efficacy, the career decision level. Consequently grade, academic record and practice duration influenced student's conception for practice and career.

The subjects are the 8 members of social workers at the facility for disabled located in city A. From Feb 16, 2016 to May 31, 2016, 70 minutes per session, overall 13 therapies were given. To see the therapeutic effects, there were test of stress and burnout before, afterwards and 4 weeks later. To find out the similarities in group, Mann Whitney U test was done, and Wilcoxon's signed ranks test was done to see the difference afterwards. As a result, art therapy in group was effective on the work stress and burnout of social workers in daisabled facility and the positive effect lasted. This results suggests a developed ways to reduce work stress and emotional burnout of social workers for disabled facility.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of strengths perspective group art therapy on the strength-related perspectives on the stress, depression and impulsivity of male middle school students who smoke. Data were collected from 15 middle school smokers from two middle schools in A city. Among them, 8 experimental groups and 7 other control groups were willing to participate in art therapy. The collected data were analyzed by nonparametric test considering the number of groups was 15. The Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test were performed. As a result, the strength-focused group art therapy program showed stress (z = -2.521, p <.05), depression (z = -2.527, p <.05), impulse (z = -2.371, p < .05). Therefore, it can be found that strengths perspective group art therapy has a positive effect on the psychological well-being of smoking middle school students, and furthermore, it is necessary to study the deep emotional state of smoking middle school students.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of recreational exercise on cognition, depression, dynamic balance and leg strength in elderly women. This study was nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. Subjects were divided into two group(exercise group=14, control group=13). Experimental group conducted recreational exercise program for eight-week. Cognition was assessed by K-WAIS(object assembly & digit symbol) and depression were assessed by questionnaire. Dynamic balance(DB) and leg strength(LS) were assessed by 244cm up & go and sit to stand respectively. The collected data analyzed by Wilcoxon singed rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. The exercise group significantly improved cognition(object assembly) and DB, but control group significantly reduced DB. DB in exercise group were significantly greater than in control group after eight-week. The program was effective on cognition and dynamic balance in elderly women.

  • In this study, meridian massage is developed and applied on post menopausal Women with Hemodialysis to identify the effects of Menopausal Symptoms, Mood, Estradiol($E_2$), and Pain. The study was a nonequivalent control group pre-post test Quasi-experimental design. There were 17 people in the experimental group and 17 people in the control group. Meridian massage was performed for 4 weeks, 3 times a week for 20 minutes each sessions. The data were collected at pretest and posttest. SPSS win. 11.5 program was used. Fisher's exact test and Mann Whitney U-test were used to analyze the Pre-treatment homogeneity. Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used to find out the effectiveness within each groups. Mann Whitney U-test was used in comparing between the two groups. After meridian massage, there were significant differences in menopausal symptoms in experimental group(z=-2.583, p=.010) and pain between groups(U=86.00, p=.040). $E_2$ was not effective in both groups. The mood was effective in both groups, since the mood had influenced by interviewer's collecting data. Meridian massage was effective in alleviating menopausal symptoms and pain of post menopausal women with Hemodialysis, but it is desirable to perform meridian massage to the patients for enough time.
