In recent years, the surroundings of Fire have rapidly changed and citizens need for Fire have been demanding very high. Under these situations, in order for satisfaction to all these demands, Seoul Metropolitan Government Fire Academy(SFA) have only to improve its educational training program as the fire educational training center in Korea. The purpose of this study is to scrutinize current educational training program of SFA and measure the relative weight among the hierarchy of disaster management(prevention and mitigation-preparedness-response-recovery) by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). The result of this study presents that how many hours must be allocated and set the educational training program with scientific and systematic way of AHP compared the current program of SFA in 2013. And This study is applied to increase access and comprehension about the AHP and will be able to present guideline for the selection of optimal the educational training of SFA to serve Seoul citizens the best Fire services.
These days manufacture technology and manufacture environment are changing rapidly. By development of computer and enlargement of technique, most of manufacture field are computerized. In order to win international competition, it is important for companies how fast get the useful information from vast data. Statistical process control(SPC) techniques have been used as a problem solution tool at manufacturing process until present. However, these statistical methods are not applied more extensively because it has much restrictions in realistic problems. These statistical techniques have lots of problems when much data and factors are analyzed. In this paper, we proposed more practical and efficient a new statistical design technique which integrated data mining (DM) and statistical methods as alternative of problems. First step is selecting significant factor using DM feature selection algorithm from data of manufacturing process including many factors. Second step is finding optimum of process after estimating response function through response surface methodology(RSM) that is a statistical techniques
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the clinical alarm occurrence and management of nurses toward clinical alarms in the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: This observational study was conducted with 40 patients and nurses cases in two ICUs of a university hospital. This study divided 24 hours into the unit of an hour and conducted two times of direct observation per unit hour for 48 hours targeting the medical devices applied to 40 patients. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Results: On average, 3.8 units of medical devices were applied for each patient and the ranges of alarm settings were wide. During 48 hours, 184 cases of clinical alarm were occurred by four types of medical devices including physiological monitors, mechanical ventilators, infusion pumps, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Among them, false alarm was 110 cases (59.8%). As for the alarm management by ICU nurses, two-minute alarm mute took up most at 38.0% (70 cases), and no response was second most at 32.6% (60 cases). When valid alarm sounded, nurses showed no response at 43.2%. Conclusion: The findings suggest that a standard protocol for alarm management should be developed for Korean ICU settings. Based on the protocol, continuous training and education should be provided to nurses for appropriate alarm management.
Purpose: This study provides an overview of the Product Liability Act which was revised in 2017 and took effect in 2018. It analyzes the effects of the revised Act on corporate management from internal and external perspectives to present coping strategies so that companies can synthetically respond to such effects. Methods: In order to achieve the purpose of this study, experts like companies, academia, governmental institutions, and consultants were invited, and Delphi techniques were applied to derive means, standard deviations, and Content Validity Ratio. Results: In this study, based on two expert questionnaire surveys, strengths and weaknesses of the internal environment of companies and opportunities and threats of the external environment were derived, followed by provision of S/O, W/O, S/T, and W/T strategies. Conclusion: To fundamentally remove the causes of accidents on their products, the relevant companies should strengthen the activities to increase product safety. They shall cooperate with suppliers to arrange the measures to speedily secure safety of consumers.
Objectives: Promotion of food safety/eradicating adulterated food has been listed as one of the four major issues recently identified for action by the Korean government. Due to the related seriousness, the food industry has been encouraged to take steps to restore consumer confidence. In order to set guidelines for the creation of manuals for the response to a food safety crisis by the food industry, this study provided a suggested organization for a crisis response team and operating procedures for crisis response activities. Methods: The prototypes of an organizational structure and a set of standard procedures for a crisis response system were provided. Results: The results of the study suggested that a crisis response team should be comprised of four divisions of responsibility: information analysis, site response, communication and operational support. The organization chart and the role and functions for each division of the crisis response team should be indicated. Response activities will be more effective when the team features multi-disciplined staffing, such as public relations, food safety/technology/quality, sales/marketing, purchasing, production, distribution/logistics, regulatory affairs/legal, and consumer service specialists. This study created a flow chart for the total crisis response system, which included crisis and normal situations. A crisis response team should be continuously operated for both crisis and normal conditions. This study also suggested a scenario to explain the procedures for crisis response activities. Conclusion: In order to cope more effectively with a food safety crisis, the organizational structure and its functions should be defined clearly, and a detailed set of standard procedures for response activities should be offered.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify Compassion Fatigue (CF), Somatization, and Silencing Response (SR) among nurses and understand intermediate effects between the variables. Methods: The sample of 240 nurses who were working three shifts in medical and surgical wards, and emergency room were recruited in three hospitals with over 700 beds. A structured questionnaire was used which included CF, Somatization and SR scales. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Results: There were statistically significant differences in CF, Somatization and SR depending on perceived personal health condition, experience of turnover, co-worker support. There were significant correlations between those study variables. The result also indicated that burnout (${\beta}$=.81, p<.001) which is a part of Secondary Traumatic Stress and Somatization (${\beta}$=.79, p<.001) have the role of partial mediator in the relationship between Secondary Traumatic Stress and Silencing response. Conclusion: The results of study show that an intermediary role by Burnout and Somatization in Silencing response of nurses is important for effective human resource management in hospital nursing staffs. Effective human resource management which includes mentoring and social support system can enhance the professional quality of life of nurses, which will eventually contribute to the quality of care by those care providers and counselors.
This paper proposed a method that segmented customers utilizing SOM(Self-organizing Map) and predicted the customers' response of a marketing promotion for each customer's segments. Our proposed method focused on predicting the response of customers dividing into customers' segment whereas most studies have predicted the response of customers all at once. We deployed logistic regression, neural networks, and support vector machines to predict customers' response that is a kind of dichotomous classification while the integrated approach was utilized to improve the performance of the prediction model. Sample data including 45 variables regarding demographic data about 600 customers, transaction data, and promotion activities were applied to the proposed method presenting classification matrix and the comparative analyses of each data mining techniques. We could draw some significant promotion strategies for segmented customers applying our proposed method to sample data.
Purpose: It is to present the development direction of the overall 'disaster management implementation process' (tentative name) for the establishment of an effective 'safety management plan' by the government and local governments. Method: To this end, prior research on the 'safety management plan' was reviewed to derive common problems, and the direction of development was suggested by incorporating the 'disaster management execution process' (tentative name) that can solve these problems with the military's 'operational execution process'. Result: Common problems of previous studies can be supplemented through the 'disaster management performance process' (tentative name) presented by this researcher. Conclusion: Through the "disaster management implementation process" (tentative name), the government's basic ideology of disaster management can be finally achieved, "confirming that it is a basic mission of the state and local governments and allowing the people to live in a society that is safe from disasters."
Purpose - This study investigates the key features of Quick Response as the fundamental form of supply chain collaboration by reviewing the selected past studies. Based on the findings from the literature review, this study provides the guideline for future researchers and business practitioners who search for more advanced collaboration programs. Research design, data, and methodology - This study conducts the literature review on the past studies that had researched Quick Response. The selected studies are analyzed in terms of how to represent Quick Response in the models and which issue to address. Results - This study finds that the past studies lack a unified concept of Quick Response, and they fail to provide the consistent guideline on how to run this program in practices. The literature review also shows that only a small number of research issues has been addressed by most researchers. Conclusions - On the purpose of figuring out the real value of Quick Response, this study suggests that future studies apply its extensive application to the entire supply chain system. This study also shed light on the potential of Quick Response to be a more advanced supply chain collaboration program with additional collaborative functions other than information sharing.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the depression, anxiety, stress response and self-care, to analyze the correlation among depression, anxiety, stress response and self-care by gender, and to determine factors associated with self-care in diabetic patients. Method: The subjects of this study were 103 participants with diabetes mellitus. Data were analyzed by chi-square test, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis by using SAS program. Result: Items for self-care evaluation by gender were significant differences in hospital visit, hypoglycemia preparation, proper hygiene, taking a rest, foot injury check, drinking, and smoking. The female patients are more likely to have higher self-care score than the male patients. However, there were no differences in depression, anxiety and stress response by gender. In male patients, there were positive correlations between the degree of depression and stress response, the degree of anxiety and stress response. In female patients, there were positive correlations between the degree of depression and stress response, the degree of anxiety and stress response. In multiple regression analysis, gender and experienced admission is associated with self-care. Conclusion: We should consider integrated approaches for psychological problems in the management of diabetic patients.
