Strategies to Improve the Quality of Care: Focusing on the Activities of People Who Provide Childcare (돌봄의 질 개선 방안: 아이돌보미 활동을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the activities of people who provided childcare based on their perspectives and situations, and suggest strategies to improve the quality of care. This study collected data through in-depth interviews and analyzed the data using Gee's discourse analysis method. The participants were 13 people who provided childcare, and criticized the low wages and unfair treatment. The results of this study recommended three strategies to improve the quality of care: stable and reasonable wages, improvement in treatment and status, and a system of communication among people who were related to childcare. Compared to previous research, this study fundamentally questioned the quality of care and investigated the answer to improving the quality of care.

Opinions of Hospital Staffs on the Korean Hospital Standardization Program and Its Criteria for Quality Activities (병원표준화심사의 질 향상 관련 항목에 대한 평가와 개선방안)

  • Background: Korean Hospital Standardization Program(KHSP), as a hospital accreditation program initiated and promoted by Korean Hospital Association since 1981, has played a key role in the hospital quality improvement in structural aspect particularly. Recently, however, KHSP has been critisized by hospitals and health personnels in that it is unpractical to be utilized as an initiative to improve hospital quality. In particular, the section of quality assurance in KHSP, strongly influenced by old version of Hospital Accreditation of Joint Commission in U.S.A., has been required to be fundamentally revised. For design of new criteria in quality assurance section, a survey for evaluation of existing program and collection of opinions for ideal one was conducted. Methods: For a month in 1994, structured questionnaires were administered by mailing to 470 hospital staffs from 200 hospitals, participated in the survey for the 1994 KHSP in each hospital. The total number of respondents was 116. Results: Less than half of the respondents(34.5%) value positively on the impact of current KHSP in general on the quality improvement of their hospitals. Moreover, most responses indicated that KHSP should be reorganized towards more practical and applicable one. Current KHSP criteria for quality activities in hospitals were regarded as a unpractical one which should be basically renewed. For new criteria and standards, most respondents emphasized the importance of applicability of those in real situations. Conclusion: For the KHSP to be effective, new evaluation criteria for quality activities should be more practical and fully accommodated to hospital situations in reality.

  • A strategic model on quality management system was developed and applied for the public service sector. The public service sector includes a wide range of organizations such as local authorities responsible for education, social services and housing, government departments, military forces, and public enterprises like post office and Korean Railroad. Quality management requires strategic integration of management system for achieving customer satisfaction. Questionnaire was developed, and data was collected and analyzed for this study. Conclusively, leadership and organization culture are the important drivers among the quality management activities. Human resource development and process management are significantly related to employee satisfaction, which also significantly influences on customer satisfaction in the public sector.

The Efficiency Evaluation of Total Quality Management in the Korean Industry with Data Envelopment Analysis

  • As all the other managerial activities, total quality management (TQM) has also inputs into and outputs from the process. Therefore, the principal managerial efficiency criteria of maximum outputs with minimum inputs should be applied to TQM. In this paper, the methodology for the performance evaluation of TQM by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was proposed. DEA is used to measure the efficiency of TQM for each firm with the input and output data obtained by questionnaire. It is found that there are not significant differences between the firms with and without IS09000 certification and between the large and small-sized firms with respect to the TQM efficiency.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of assessment and compensation system, information technology, knowledge quality, and knowledge management activities on the earthquake disaster management job performance. Method: Questionnaire survey was performed for the fire officials, and the multi-regression analysis for surveyed data was statistically performed by using SPSS 25.0 program. Result: Information technology, knowledge quality and knowledge management activities among the factors of the knowledge management system related to earthquake disasters have had significant positive effects on the earthquake disaster management job performance, but assessment and compensation system are found to have no significant effects on the earthquake disaster management job performance. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the higher the level of information technology, knowledge quality and knowledge management activities related to earthquake disasters, the higher the disaster management job performance.

  • These days, many companies use information systems as a basis for organizational management activities and as an important component of sustainable management. Thus, securing and operating a high-quality information system that can improve the efficiency of business processes is a large part of corporate competitiveness. In order to get such a critical information system, it is only possible to successfully carry out the project. Various attempts and studies have been undertaken to increase the success rate of the project. However, the reality is that the success rate is still not getting much better. In this study, the concept of quality of service, which has long been actively studied in marketing area, was applied as a new factor to enhance the project's success. In this study, project performance activities were defined as the act of providing services. A survey of 164 valid collection data was analyzed. The analysis used SPSS 23. Four process quality factors (customer participation, customer response, knowledge and skills, reliability) and 21 metrics were derived. Through this research, I hope to be the starting point of applying process quality concept as a new breakthrough to increase success rate of project.

Patient Safety Management Activities of Korean Nurses: A Meta-Analytic Path Analysis (국내 간호사의 환자안전관리활동에 대한 메타경로분석)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to test a hypothetical model of Korean nurses' patient safety management activities using meta-analytic path analysis. Methods: A systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-analytic path analysis were conducted following the PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines. Seventy-four studies for the meta-analysis and 92 for the meta-analytic path analysis were included. The R software program (Version 3.6.3) was used for data analysis. Results: Four variables out of 49 relevant variables were selected in the meta-analysis. These four variables showed large effect sizes (ESr = .54) or median effect sizes (ESr = .33~.40) with the highest k (number of studies) in the individual, job, and organizational categories. The hypothetical model for the meta-analytic path analysis was established using these variables and patient safety management activities. Twelve hypothetical paths were set and tested. Finally, the perception of the importance of patient safety management and patient safety competency directly affected patient safety management activities. In addition, self-efficacy, the perception of the importance of patient safety management, patient safety competency, and patient safety culture, indirectly affected patient safety management activities. Conclusion: Self-efficacy, the perception of the importance of patient safety management, patient safety competency, and the organization's patient safety culture should be enhanced to improve nurses' patient safety management activities.

  • The goal of this study is to stress the importance of 6sigma quality management in improving the inner capabilities of manufacturing and the performances of the company. Six Sigma is widely recognized today as a process improvement methodology that can cut costs and eliminate defects in manufacturing processes. In this exploratory analysis. a model is developed and tested to fit research model with the structural equation modeling analysis. In conclusion. 6sigma leadership and flexible organizational culture are the important drivers among 6sigma activities. IT management strategy is significantly related to 6sigma quality management. 6sigma quality management is significantly related to financial performance. In addition. customer satisfaction is significantly related to financial performance.

If so, how do we get to handle the quality control on the basis of the new approach. Also, as software applications have grown. so too has the importance of software quality. In order to manage software quality, the technology to specify and evaluate both the software product quality and development process quality objectively quantitatively is most important. To produce products of good quality, we need a more progressive quality control system according to the need of software development life cycle. In other words, we do software right the first time or build quality in the process. On the basis intermediate and final time or build quality in the process. On the basis of data achieved, we can evaluate the products according to the consequences of the data, What are the problems to contrive the software quality control system?, we con promote the quality of products. To achieved that goal, we con provide a suitable the technique and method of software quality control.
