  • Vulnerable web applications have been the primary method used by the attackers to spread their malware to a large number of victims. Such attacks commonly make use of malicious links to remotely execute a rather advanced malicious code. The attackers often deploy malwares that utilizes unknown vulnerabilities so-called "zero-day vulnerabilities." The existing computer vaccines are mostly signature-based and thus are effective only against known attack patterns, but not capable of detecting zero-days attacks. To mitigate such limitations of the current solutions, there have been a numerous works that takes a behavior-based approach to improve detection against unknown malwares. However, behavior-based solutions arbitrarily introduced a several limitations that made them unsuitable for real-life situations. This paper proposes an advanced web browser based malicious behavior detection system that solves the problems and limitations of the previous approaches.

  • Recently, Phising attack uses trick of URL and sites, and technical concealment method which infiltrates sophisticated malicious code. However, sometimes Phising security technology cannot cover all of Phising methods. Consequently, this research proposes inspection to solve this problem. First, we can install Proxy server for a strong open information exchange of web environment between web servers and clients. Therefore, it compares and analyzes harmful site and Phising URL with White domain list, and filters them. Finally, designs for stable web based information so that we can block Phising with least regulation and active control. So the purpose of this paper is introducing this design system and structure, and inspect them.

A Malware Detection Method using Analysis of Malicious Script Patterns (악성 스크립트 패턴 분석을 통한 악성코드 탐지 기법)

  • Recently, with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing technologies, security threats have increased as malicious codes infect IoT devices, and new malware spreads ransomware to cloud servers. In this study, we propose a threat-detection technique that checks obfuscated script patterns to compensate for the shortcomings of conventional signature-based and behavior-based detection methods. Proposed is a malicious code-detection technique that is based on malicious script-pattern analysis that can detect zero-day attacks while maintaining the existing detection rate by registering and checking derived distribution patterns after analyzing the types of malicious scripts distributed through websites. To verify the performance of the proposed technique, a prototype system was developed to collect a total of 390 malicious websites and experiment with 10 major malicious script-distribution patterns derived from analysis. The technique showed an average detection rate of about 86% of all items, while maintaining the existing detection speed based on the detection rule and also detecting zero-day attacks.

  • WebShell is a web script file created by a hacker to remotely commands to a web server. The hacker can bypass the security system using the web shell, access the system, control the system such as file modification, copying and deletion, install malicious code in the web source code, attack the user's PC, And so on. There are many types of WebShell attack, but we study about attacks on PHP and JSP based web server which are used as representative ones. And we propose the method of web page management, method of development, and several other methods. By using these countermeasures, it is possible to effectively prevent damage caused by WebShell attacks.

  • Despite the convenience brought by the advances in web and Internet technology, users are increasingly being exposed to the danger of various types of cyber attacks. In particular, recent studies have shown that today's cyber attacks usually occur on the web via malware distribution and the stealing of personal information. A drive-by download is a kind of web-based attack for malware distribution. Researchers have proposed various methods for detecting a drive-by download attack effectively. However, existing methods have limitations against recent evasion techniques, including JavaScript obfuscation, hiding, and dynamic code evaluation. In this paper, we propose an emulation-based malicious webpage detection method. Based on our study on the limitations of the existing methods and the state-of-the-art evasion techniques, we will introduce four features that can detect malware distribution networks and we applied them to the proposed method. Our performance evaluation using a URL scan engine provided by VirusTotal shows that the proposed method detects malicious webpages more precisely than existing solutions.

  • Hackers try to achieve their purpose in a variety of ways, such as operating own website and hacking a website. Hackers seize a large amount of private information after they have made a zombie PC by using malicious code to upload the website and it would be used another hacking. Almost detection technique is the use Snort rule. When unknown code and the patterns in IDS/IPS devices are matching on network, it detects unknown code as malicious code. However, if unknown code is not matching, unknown code would be normal and it would attack system. Hackers try to find patterns and make shellcode to avoid patterns. So, new method is needed to detect that kinds of shellcode. In this paper, we proposed a noble method to detect the shellcode by using Shannon's information entropy.

  • Pharming attack is a confidence trick that the hacker catch away customers financial information on Internet banking. At first, a hacker installs malicious execution code on customers PC in secret. As a customer tries to connect a Internet banking Web site, the malicious code changes it to phishing site in Internet explorer. The hacker catch away customers financial information in process of internet banking. The hacker steals money from customer's bank account using stolen information. PKI is a widespread and strong technology for providing the security using public key techniques. The main idea of PKI is the digital certificate that is a digitally signed statement binding an user's identity information and his public key. The Internet banking service stands on the basis of PKI. However, the bank is trusted in natural, the only customer is certified in the present Internet banking. In this paper, we propose a method of cross certification in Internet banking. The customer certify a bank and the bank certify the customer in proposed method. The method can service to customer the secure Internet banking about pharming attack. We compare the proposed method with other methods.

  • The malware, as hackers generic name of executable code that is created for malicious purposes, depending on the presence or absence of a self-replicating ability infected subjects, and are classified as viruses, worms, such as the Trojan horse. Mainly Web page search and P2P use, such as when you use a shareware, has become penetration is more likely to occur in such a situation. If you receive a malware attack, whether the e-mail is sent it is automatically, or will suffer damage such as reduced system performance, personal information leaks. While introducing the current malware, let us examine the measures and describes the contents related to the malicious code.

  • With the deployment of web-based educational game over the internet, the user's registration becomes a critical element. The user is authenticated by the system using username, password, and unique code. However, it cannot be handled properly because the data is transmitted through insecure channel on the network. Hence, security requirement is needed to avoid identity leakage from malicious user. In this paper, we propose a secure communication approach using SSL protocol for an online game. We also describe the security requirements for our approach. In future work, we intend to configure and implement the SSL protocol by enabling HTTPS in web-based online game.

  • This paper analyzes the attack method of pastejacking and proposes a clip toaster that can effectively defend it. When programming, developers often copy and paste code from GitHub, Stack Overflow, or blogs. Pastejacking is an attack that injects malicious data into the clipboard when a user copies code posted on the web, resulting in security threats by executing malicious commands that the user does not intend or by inserting dangerous code snippets into the software. In this paper, we propose clip toaster to visualize and alertusers of threats to defend pastejacking that threatens the security of the developer's terminal and program code. Clip Toaster can visualize security threat notifications and effectively detect and respond to attacks without interfering with user actions.
