중학생의 결핵에 대한 지식, 태도 및 예방행위 (Tuberculosis-related Knowledge, Attitude and Preventive Behaviors among Middle School Students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine tuberculosis-related knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviors of middle school students and to investigate socio-demographic and health-related factors. Methods: 198 male and 188 female middle school students in M city were recruited for the survey. Independent sample t-test, One-way ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}^{\prime}s$ test and Pearson's correlation were performed to examine factors associated with tuberculosis-related knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviors. Results: The percentage of correct answers to questions testing tuberculosis-related knowledge was very low, 33%. The mean scores of attitude and preventive behaviors were 3.02 and 2.90 out of 4 (highest score), respectively. Middle school students who had experiences of health education or tuberculosis-related education showed significantly higher scores than their counterparts in all factors - knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors. Parental education, academic achievement, smoking, sleeping time, infectious disease education, and source of tuberculosis information were associated with knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors. Knowledge about tuberculosis had a positive correlation with attitude and preventive behaviors. Conclusion: The level of tuberculosis-related knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors was very low among middle school students. In addition, school health education was highly related to a higher level of knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors regarding tuberculosis. Therefore, to intensify students' preventive behaviors against tuberculosis and other infection diseases, sustainable school health education should be provided for middle school students who are at risk of developing tuberculosis.

농촌 중학생의 식행동과 가정과 식생활단원에 대한 태도 (Dietary Behavior and Attitude for the Food and Nutrition Section in the Home Economics Curriculum of Middle School Students in Rural Area)

  • The study was performed to investigate the dietary behaviors and attitudes toward the lesson of Food and Nutrition in Home Economics course among middle school students in rural area. The participants of the study were 647 second-grade students in a middle school in Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. The main nutrition problems of the students were found to be deviated food-intake habits and irregular meal time. Twenty six percent of female students and 14.8% of male students skipped breakfast. Seventy three percent of the total students have a tendency of food aversions. The food groups they dislike most were vegetables and pulses. They answered they got nutrition information mostly from the class at school. Their favorite topic in the lesson of Food and Nutrition was cooking. Some students did not like Food and Nutrition because it requires too much memorization. Teaching methods they liked were lecture, discussion, and audio-visual presentation. Although 81.7% of the students thought that the lesson of Food and Nutrition was useful, only 17.1% of the students practiced what they learned from the lesson. These results confirm that nutrition education in middle school is essential to the students in rural area and that it is needed to find an effective teaching method and materials for them to change positively their food behaviors at daily life.

남.녀 중학생의 식생활관리 단원에 대한 관심도 및 실행 능력 (A Study on Interest and Application Ability in Meal Management of the middle School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of interest and application ability in meal management chapters of the middle school students, and to provide basic informations for the improvements of Home Economics curriculum and teaching projects. The subjects were 555 middle school students(275 males, 280 females) in Chunchon area, Kangwon-do. Research data were collected by means of the questionnaire and statistically analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and correlation analysis using SPSS/win. The results of this study were summarized as follows: There were significant differences in the degree of interest and application ability according to gender, school years, home economics scholastic achievements, and father's role in preparing meal. The degree of interest and application ability was significantly higher in female than male. First grade students showed more interest and higher application ability than the third year. In general, the higher home economics scholastic achievement was, the higher the degree of interest and application ability was. The more father's role was in preparing meal, the higher student's degree of interest and application ability was. There was significant correlation between the degree of interest and the degree of application ability.(r=0.853, p< .001)

남녀 중학생의 가족건강성과 자아효능감의 관계 (The Relation among Family Strength and Self-efficacy in Middle School Students)

  • 본 연구는 남녀 청소년이 인식하는 가족건강성과 자아효능감의 관계를 분석함으로써 자아효능감을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하며 가정과 학교에서 청소년을 지도하는 데 있어 기초적인 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 남녀 청소년의 가족건강성과 자아효능감은 중간값(3.0)보다 높았고, 가족건강성 중 가족존중 및 애정이 다른 영역에 비해 상대적으로 가장 높았다. 둘째, 가족건강성과 자아효능감은 남녀 청소년 모두에서 유의한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 남학생의 자아효능감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 변인은 가족존중 및 애정이었으며, 이 변인은 남학생의 자아효능감을 29% 설명해 주었다. 또한 여학생의 자아효능감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 변인들은 가족존중 및 애정과 재정적 안정이었으며, 이 변인들은 여학생의 자아효능감을 32% 설명해 주었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 살펴볼 때 청소년의 자아효능감에는 가족건강성의 영향력이 크다는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 가족 간의 유대를 강화하고 애정을 증진시킬 수 있도록 가정과교육을 강화하며, 청소년의 자아효능감을 증진시킬 수 있는 프로그램을 개발하여 제공할 필요가 있다.

Teasing from Parents and Siblings about Appearance Affecting Body Satisfaction and Self-Esteem of Middle School Students

  • In this study, it is explored whether teasing from parents and siblings about appearance of children affects body satisfaction and self-esteem of middle school students. A total of 594 adolescents participated in the survey and the causal model was tested with the data. In results, parents' and siblings' teasing was significantly correlated. Parents' and siblings' teasing significantly affected body satisfaction that showed a significant impact on self-esteem. In the mean comparison by gender, female adolescents suffered more from parents' as well as siblings' teasing on appearance than did male adolescents. Female adolescents indicated lower body satisfaction than male adolescents whereas no gender difference was found in self-esteem. In the multiple-model comparison, both the parents' and siblings' teasing about appearance affected body satisfaction of female adolescents while only siblings' teasing affected body satisfaction of male adolescents. The results indicate that female adolescents are more likely to be exposed to parents' and siblings' teasing about appearance at home than male adolescents, resulting in negative body satisfaction that is influencing self-esteem. The finding could be used as a basis for family education, calling for an attention to this issue.

중, 고등학교 학생들의 환경보건에 대한 지식 태도 조사 연구 (A Study on Knowledge and Attitude of the Middle and High School students Relating to Environmental Health)

  • This study was conducted to contribute to development of both educational materials and programs necessary to effectively teach the environmental health to the students of the middle and high schools, by analysing their understanding and attitude toward the environmental health. Also this study was carried out with 3120 male and female students of the middle and high schools in the urban and rural areas for three months from April 1 to June 30, 1996. Based on the result of this study, It is required for the related authorities, schools, experts and patents to make all their efforts, in other for the students to correctly understand the environment while this study contributes to the development of educational programs useful for effectively studying the environment and of educational materials concerning environment of the middle and high schools.

중학생의 기술교과 학업수행 어려움 인식과 영향 변인 (The Perception of Academic Difficulties of Middle School Students in technology subject and their Influences Variables.)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 중학생들의 기술교과의 기술영역의 학업수행에 있어서 겪는 어려움의 인식을 분석하고, 그 영향 변인을 조사하는데 있었다. 이 연구의 대상은 전국의 중학생들이며, 조사를 위하여 학년과 지역을 고려하여 총 420명을 선정하고, 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료의 수집은 우편으로 이루어졌으며, 분석은 SPSS 22.0K를 이용하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 기술 교과의 기술영역의 학업수행에서 중학생이 겪는 어려움은 보통수준으로 인식되었다. 둘째, 중학생들은 기술 교과 학업수행의 어려움 인식의 원인으로 경험(기회)의 부족으로 응답하였다. 셋째, 학업수행과정에서 관련용어와 이론에 대하여 여학생이 남학생보다 어렵다고 인식하고 있었다. 세부적인 문제해결활동에서도 문제 확인, 해결방안 구상, 해결방안 선정, 모형제작, 해결방안테스트, 개선점 수정에 대하여 여학생이 남학생에 비해 더 어렵다고 인식하였다. 넷째, 기술교과 학업수행에 대한 어려움은 용어, 이론, 실습활동에 대하여 2학년, 3학년, 1학년 순으로 어렵다고 응답하였다. 다섯째, 기술교과 학업수행의 어려움 인식의 영향 변인으로는 설명 이해 지식 부족, 내용 지식 혼동, 기술 관심 부족, 수업 시간 부족, 평가기준 이해 부족이 모두 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 세부적인 문제해결과정에 대한 어려움에 영향을 주는 변인으로는 설명이해, 내용지식혼동, 기술관심, 수업시간, 평가 기준 이해가 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

중학생의 영양 성분 표시에 대한 구매 행동 및 이용 실태 - 충북 지역을 중심으로 - (The Actual State of Food Purchasing Behaviors Regarding Nutrition Facts Labels among Middle School Students in Chungbuk Area)

  • This study conducted a questionnaire survey of 482 male and female second graders in middle schools located in Cheongju, Chungcheongbukdo. This study lays its purpose on establishing the nutrition facts labeling system by understanding eating habits and analyzing the actual state of reading nutrition facts labels and degrees of understanding them among middle school students, and helping them to engage in right food purchasing activities and through it result in developing sound eating habits by providing them with basic material to be employed to actively utilize nutrition facts for choosing and buying healthy foods. As a result of surveying regarding the actual state of reading food labels, regarding degrees of recognition of food labels, it was revealed that 91.1% of female students recognized them, while 42.1% of male students did not recognize them, indicating lower levels of recognition among the male group. Regarding reasons for not checking food labels, 49.2% indicated habitual purchasing, followed by poor contents in the label(20.2%), ununderstandable contents(17.7%), and the lower reliability of the contents(6.9%). As a result of surveying regarding the actual state of reading nutrition facts labels, in recognition of nutrition facts labels, female rather than male students showed higher degrees of recognition, and degrees of recognition were found to differ according to parents' total income and mothers' educational attainments.

청소년기 학생들의 섭식태도에 관한 조사 (A Study on Eating Behavior of Students in Adolescents)

  • 남녀 중학생들의 섭식의 형태와 신경증적 경향과의 연관성을 알아보고자 1993년 대구시내 모 중학교 3학년 학생 419명(남 : 187명, 여 : 232명)을 대상으로 섭식태도 척도, Middlesex Hospital Questionnaire 및 Zung의 자가평가 우울척도를 사용하여 조사한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 체중의 과소에 따른 성적은 유의하지 않았다. 남학생과 여학생을 비교할때 여학생의 경우 모든 척도에서 유의하게 높은 점수를 보였다(p<0.05). 섭식태도척도는 Middlesex Hospital Questionnaire와 Zung의 자가평가 우울척도와 유의한 상관관계를 보였다(p<0.05). 정신사회적 요인 중 남녀학생 모두에게 유의하게 높은 접수를 보인 요인은 현재 및 미래 자아상에 불만인 경우 (각각 p<10.05, p<0.05) 현재 및 주위 환경에 불만인 경우(p<0.05)이었다. 남학생에서 유의하게 높은 접수를 보인 요인은 현재 대인관계에 있어서 불만족인 경우(p<0.05)이었으며, 여학생에서는 용돈 중 61-90%를 먹는데 사용하는 경우(p<0.05), 가족간의 관계가 불만족(p<0.05) 또는 보통인 경우(p<0.05), 성장 환경에 불만족인 경우(p<0.05), 과거 자아상에 대해 불만족인 경우(p<0.05) 및 현재 부모와의 관계에서 불만족인 경우(p<0.05)이었다.

중학교 학생들의 자살에 대한 인식도 조사 (Attitudes Toward Suicide in Middle-School Students)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine attitudes of middle-school students toward happiness, suicide, and factors associated with suicide. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire was used in a cluster sample of 1,319 middle-school students (male 793, female 526). Data were obtained on a wide range of constructs regarding their attitude towards happiness, suicidal ideation and attempts, and factors associated with suicide. Results : Middle-school students choose 'love within family' as most important factor for their happiness. Subjective mental health status was mostly associated with happiness. Subjects in lower socioeconomic status tended to respond their mental health status was not good and have more suicidal idea. 48.7% of subjects had permissive attitudes toward suicide, especially, girls. However, 65.0% responded that suicide was preventable problem. Compared to older people, middle-school students perceived that environmental factors were more important than innate and personal factors for suicide. Conclusion : Results of the study indicate that middle-school students have permissive attitudes toward suicide, but positive attitudes for the prevention of suicide. This suggest that education in these age group could be effective for the prevention of suicide. Also, approaches to suicide prevention programs should be developed based on the family intervention. Especially, we should care about girls and adolescents in lower socioeconomic status.
