클로로프렌 고무의 난연성 및 내방사선 특성 향상 (The Improvements for Fire Retardancy and Radiation Resistance of Chloroprene Rubber)

  • This study has investigated radiation degradation of chloroprene rubber in the presence of some fire retardant. Ammonium polyphosphate, aluminium trihydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate and antimony trioxide were selected as flame retardant. Samples were irradiated using a Co$^{60}$ ${\gamma}$ -ray and ray up to 2000 kGy at a dose rate of 5 kGy/hr in the presence of air atmosphere at room temperature. After irradiation, samples were assessed fire retardancy with electrical properties and mechanical properties. Some considerations concerning the effects of the fire retardants added to chloroprene rubber on the radiation and thermal stability of chloroprene rubber are presented. From fire retardancy with electrical and mechanical property measurements, it was found that addition of magnesium hydroxide resulted in maximum fire retardant effect.

  • 해수나 염수에서 마그네슘을 추출하는 전해 반응은 마그네슘 이온을 주로 수산화마그네슘 형태로 마그네슘을 침전-회수하는 기술로, 양이온교환막, 음이온교환막, 전기투석, 비막 방식 등으로 분류된다. 최근 연구는 마그네슘 함유 해수나 염수를 사용하여 마그네슘의 회수 효율성 및 선택성 증진에 집중되며, 향후 일반 해수를 사용할 경우에도 효과적인 마그네슘 회수가 기대된다. 향후에는, 스케일업 시스템의 장기운전을 통해 마그네슘 및 다양한 유가물질에 대한 선택적 고효율 회수의 최적화와 더불어 경제성 및 환경성을 증진하는 것이 중요하다. 함께 막의 수명 및 교체주기를 고려하여 운전비용을 현실적으로 산정해야 하며, 다양한 인자에 대한 모니터링 데이터를 기반으로 상세하고 실용적인 공정 모델이 필요하다.

LDPE/EVA Blend의 난연성 및 전기/기계적 특성 (Flame Retardancy and Electrical/Mechanical Properties of LDPF/EVA Blend)

  • 본 연구에서는 저밀도 폴리에틸렌과 에털렌 비닐 아세테이트 블렌드(LDPF/EVA)의 난연성을 향상시키기 위해 난연제인 수산화 마그네슘과 난연상승보조제인 zinc borate를 첨가한 후, 난연성과 체적저항률, 유전정접, 교류 절연파괴강도 등의 전기적 특성, 인장강도 및 연신율 등의 가계적 특성을 비교 분석하여 가장 우수한 LDPF/EVA 블렌드의 혼합비 및 적절한 $Mg(OH)_2$의 zinc borate의 첨가량을 선정하고자 하였다. 혼합비 70/30phr의 LDPF/EVA 블렌드에 10phr의 $Mg(OH)_2$와 6phr 정도의 zinc borate를 첨가한 시편에서 가장 우수한 난연성 및 전기/기계적 특성을 나타내었다.

  • Magnesium hydroxide as a non-halogen flame retardant has increasing attention due to its non-toxicity, high decomposition temperature and smoke suppressant ability during combustion. For the application of magnesium hydroxide retardant to the textile by soaking and coating method, the prerequisite for the coating is a small particle size, stable dispersion, and adhesion to the textile. The dispersion of $Mg(OH)_2$ particles and stability of the coating was checked by monitoring the change of transmittance and backscattering by varying the types of dispersion agents, binder, solvent, and $Mg(OH)_2$ source, and their compositions in the coating. The $Mg(OH)_2$ dispersion coating was applied to PET(poly(ethylene terephthalate)) non-woven textile. The physical properties are characterized by surface morphology, amount of coating, particle dispersion, and adhesion test. The flame retardant $Mg(OH)_2$ coated textile has been compared by limited oxygen index(LOI) and thermal gravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry(TG-DSC). It was found that phosphorous additive may give synergistic effect on $Mg(OH)_2$ flame retardant coating to make the flame retardant PET non-woven textile.

상압 공정을 이용한 침상형 5Mg(OH)2·MgSO4·3H2O 합성에 대한 MgSO4/MgO 효과 (Effect of MgSO4/MgO on the Synthesis of 5Mg(OH)2·MgSO4·3H2O Whiskers using One-step Ambient Pressure)

  • Magnesium hydroxide sulfate hydrate ($5Mg(OH)_2.MgSO_4{\cdot}3H_2O$, abbreviated 513 MHSH) whiskers were synthesized using MgO and $MgSO_4.7H_2O$ as reactants without addition of basic solution. Previously, MHSH whiskers were prepared by hydrothermal method using $MgSO_4$ in aqueous ammonia. In this work, for the first time, we synthesized a high purity MHSH via ambient pressure. In addition, a high molar ratio of $MgSO_4$ : MgO is an important key to the formation of high purity MHSH. Also, it was possible to prepare whiskers with high aspect ratio using an increasing reaction time in the reaction between the remaining $SO_4^{2-}$ ions and the ${Mg(OH)_6}^{4-}$ fragment, finally producing one-dimensional whiskers.

  • Physical and chemical properties of thexylboronic acid and its derivatives such as thexylboroxine and ethylene glycol or diethanolamine thexylboronic ester have been studied. Thexylboronic acid can be extracted from an organic solution with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution as an “te”complex. It is readily converted into thexylboroxine in the presence of anhydrous magnesium sulfate in pentane. It reacts with simple alcohols only slowly; however, it reacts readily with excess diethanolamine in the presence of anhydrous magnesium sulfate to give the corresponding ester.

폐폴리에틸린/폐에틸렌 비닐아세테이트공중합체 블렌드 발포체의 난연 및 발포 특성에 관한 연구 (Flame Retardancy and Foaming Properties of the Waste-Polyethylene(W-PE)/Waste-Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer(W-EVA) Blend Foams)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐폴리에틸렌 (W-PE)/폐에틸렌비닐아세테이트공중합체 (W-EVA) 블렌드계에 무기계 및 인계 난연제 등을 첨가하여 난연폴리올레핀 발포체를 제조하고, 수지대비 난연제, 특히 무기계 난연제의 종류 및 함량 변화에 따른 발포 및 난연특성의 변화를 조사하였다. 그 결과 W-PE/W-EVA 블렌드계의 조성비가 50/50 (w/w)이고, 수지 대비 난연제의 함량이 220phr의 범위 내에서 가교반응을 쉽게 이룰 수 있을 것으로 생각되는 폐고분자재료를 사용함으로써 가교 및 발포가 효과적으로 이루어져 V-PE 난연 발포체와 비교해 비교적 균일한 독립기포를 갖고, 발포율이 오히려 증가 (100 % 이상)함을 알 수 있었으며, 난연특성 (limiting oxygen index; LOI, heat release rate; HRR, total heat release; THR, effective heat of combustion; EHC등) 또한 높음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 난연제의 종류 및 함량이 발포 및 난연특성에 미치는 영향이 큼을, 그리고 무기계 난연제의 난연 및 연기발생억제 효과를 확인하였다. 무기계 난연제 중 수산화알루미늄은 LOI 상승에, 수산화마그네슘은 발포율 상승 및 HRR, COY를 낮추는 데 효과적임을 알 수 있었고, 수산화알루미늄과 수산화마그네슘을 동시에 사용했을 때 상호작용에 따른 시너지 효과로 난연성을 보다 향상시킴을 확인하였다.

물유리의 농도와 첨가제 종류에 따른 방염제의 성능 (Flame Retardancy of Plywood Treated with Various Water Glass Concentration and Additives)

  • 소방청의 방염성능기준에 제시된 45°멕켈 버어너법을 이용하여 물유리 농도와 첨가제 종류에 따른 합판의 탄화길이 및 면적 등의 방염성능을 측정하였다. 합판에 농도 20-50%의 물유리를 처리한 결과, 방염성능은 물유리의 농도와 비례하는 경향을 나타냈다. 그러나 30%를 넘는 고농도의 물유리로 처리된 합판의 표면에서 백화현상과 끈적임이 발생하여 농도 30%를 최적 조건으로 결정하였다. 농도 30%의 물유리에 서로 다른 비율의 첨가제를 추가하여 실험을 수행한 결과, 수산화칼륨 15% 조건과 수산화알루미늄 1-10%의 조건에서 방염성능 기준을 만족하였다. 반면에 황산마그네슘은 방염성능에 크게 영향을 미치지 않았다. 물유리와 첨가제에 따른 방염성능의 결과는 방염제를 활용한 불연재에 대한 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

흙의 粒度分捕가 石灰混合土의 强度特性에 미치는 影響 (Effects of Grain Size Distribution in Soil on the Strength Characteristics of Lime-Soil Mixtures)

  • The characteristics of compaction and unconfined compressive strength were investigated by mixing with lime to all soils adjusted by given percentages of two kinds of clays to sand to obtain the most effective distribution of grain size and the optimum lime content for soil stabilization. In addition, unconfined compressive strength and durability tested by adding of sodium metasilicate, sodium sulfate, sodium carbonate, sodium gydroxide and magnesium oxide to lime-soil mixture mixed with 8 percent lime to adjusted soil having the mixing percentage of 60 percent of cohesive black clay and 40 percent of sand by weight to get the effect and the optimum content of chemicals. The results obtained were as follows; 1.With the addition of more lime, the optimum moisture content was increased, and the maximum dry density was decreased, whereas the more the amount of clay and the less was the maximum drt density. 2. In the soil having more fine grain size the unconfined compressive strength was larger in the earlier stage of curing period, in accordance with the longer period, the mixing percentages of sand to clay showing the maximum unconfined compressive strength, on the basis of 28-day strength, were 60% : 40% (black clay) and 40% : 60% (brown clay) respectively. 3. The reason why the soil adjusted with black clay was remarkably bigger in the unconfined compressive strength than ones adjusted with brown clay for all specimen of lime-soil mixture was the difference in the kind of clay, the amount of chemical compositions the value of pH. Black clay was mainly composed of halloysite that reacted with lime satisfactorily, whereas the main composition of brown clay was kaolinite that was less effect in the enhance of unconfined compressive strength. Also the difference of unconfined compressive strength was because black clay was larger in the amount of composition of calcium oxide and magnesium oxide in the value of pH affecting directly on the unconfined compressive strength of lime-soil mixture than brown clay. 4. In the lime-soil mixture mixed with 8 percent of lime to soil that mixing percentage of sand to black clay was 60% : 40%, on the standard of 7-day strength, the effect of chemical was arranged in the order of magnesium oxide, sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, sodium hydroxide and sodium metasilicate. 5. The optimum amount of chemical being applicable to the maximum unconfined compressive strength of lime-chemical-soil mixture was 1 percent by weight for air dry soil in the case of adding sodium carbonated and 0.75 percent on sodium hydroxide, the unconfined compressive strength was increased continuously with increase of the amount of chemical up to 2 percent of chemical content is the lime-chemical-soil mixture added sodium metasilicate, sodium sulfate and magnesium oxide. 6. It was considered that the chemical played and accelerant role of early revelation of strength because the rate of increase of unconfined compressive strength of all of lime-chemical-soil mixtures was largest on the 7-day cured specimen. 7. The effect of test on freezing and thawing after adding suitable amount of chemical on the lime-soil mixture mixed with 8 percent of lime to soil that mixing percentage of sand to black clay was 60% : 40% was arranged in the order of magnesium oxide, sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, sodium metasilicate and sodium hydroxide.

침상형 5Mg(OH)2·MgSO4·3H2O 형성에 관한 MgO와 NH4OH 영향 (Effect of MgO and NH4OH on Formation of 5Mg(OH)2·MgSO4·3H2O Whiskers)

  • Magnesium hydroxide sulfate hydrate whiskers ($5Mg(OH)_2{\cdot}MgSO_4{\cdot}3H_2O$, abbreviated 513 MHSH) were prepared using hydrothermal reaction with magnesium oxide (MgO) and magnesium sulfate ($MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$) as the starting materials. The effects of the molar ratio of $MgSO_4$/MgO and amount of $NH_4OH$ were studied. As a result, 513 MHSH whiskers co-existed with hexagonal plate $Mg(OH)_2$ at low concentration of $SO_4^{2-}$. The molar ratio of $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$/MgO was 7:1, uniform 513 MHSH whiskers were formed without impurity such as $Mg(OH)_2$. Appropriate amount of $NH_4OH$ has affected to formation of high quality MHSH. Their morphologies and structures were determined by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermo-gravimetric analyzer (TGA).
