  • The decision-making by agents in games is commonly based on reinforcement learning. To improve the quality of agents, it is necessary to solve the problems of the time and state space that are required for learning. Such problems can be solved by Macro-Actions, which are defined and executed by a sequence of primitive actions. In this line of research, the learning time is reduced by cutting down the number of policy decisions by agents. Macro-Actions were originally defined as combinations of the same primitive actions. Based on studies that showed the generation of Macro-Actions by learning, Macro-Actions are now thought to consist of diverse kinds of primitive actions. However an enormous amount of learning time and state space are required to generate Macro-Actions. To resolve these issues, we can apply insights from studies on the learning of tasks through Programming by Demonstration (PbD) to generate Macro-Actions that reduce the learning time and state space. In this paper, we propose a method to define and execute Macro-Actions. Macro-Actions are learned from a human subject via PbD and a policy is learned by reinforcement learning. In an experiment, the proposed method was applied to a car simulation to verify the scalability of the proposed method. Data was collected from the driving control of a human subject, and then the Macro-Actions that are required for running a car were generated. Furthermore, the policy that is necessary for driving on a track was learned. The acquisition of Macro-Actions by PbD reduced the driving time by about 16% compared to the case in which Macro-Actions were directly defined by a human subject. In addition, the learning time was also reduced by a faster convergence of the optimum policies.

  • The study aims to investigate a close relation between macro and non-macro variables on stock performance of tourism companies in Korea. The sample used in this study includes monthly data from January 2001 to December 2018. The stock price index of the tourism companies as a dependent variable are obtained from Sejoong, HanaTour, and RedcapTour as three leading Korean tourism companies that have been listed on the Korea Stock Exchange. This study assesses the tourism stock performance using the quantile regression approach. This study also investigates whether global crisis events as the Iraq War and the global financial crisis as non-macro variables have a significant effect on the stock performance of tourism companies in Korea. The results show that the oil prices, exchange rate and industrial production have negative coefficients on stock prices of tourism companies, while the effects of tourist expenditure and consumer price index are positive and significant. We estimate the result of quantile regression that non-macro determinants have statistically a significant and negative effect on tourism stock performance because the global crisis could threaten traveler's safety and economy. Overall, empirical results suggest that the effects of macro and non-macro variables are statistically asymmetric and highly related to tourism stock performance.

  • Skin temperatures were tested under the same conditions by using the thermography in order to extract the biological characteristics of the physical constitutional types in according to the Lee's 4 type physical constitutional theory. The subjects of this experiment were 14 ; 5 Macro-Negative subjects, 5 Micro-Negative subjects, 3 Micro-Positive subjects and 1 Macro-Positive subject. All subjects were stimulated with 2.5Hz 30Vpeak-peak pulses for 2 minutes. As the results, in normal prestimulation state the skin temperatures of the trunk in Micro-Positive and Macro-Positive subjects were higher than those of Macro-Negative and Micro-Negative subjects. In Macro-Negative subjects the reflected skin temperature of lever was the highest in the anterior trunk. In Micro-Negative subjects the reflected skin temperature of kidney was the highest in the trunk. In Micro-Positive subjects the reflected skin temperature of stomach was the highest in the trunk. In Macro-Positive subject the reflected skin temperature of lung was the highest in the trunk. In transient poststimulation state, heart rate was decreased in 7 cases among of 10 Macro-Negative ana Micro-Negative subjects, but it was increased in 3 cases among of 4 Micro-Positive and Macro-Positive subjects. And the hand temerature was increased in 8 cases among of 10 Macro-Negative and Micro-Negative subjects, but it was decreased in 3 cases among of 4 Micro-Positive and Macro-Positive subjects.

  • The macro-parametric approach, which is a method of CAD model exchange, has recently been proposed. CAD models can be exchanged in the form of a macro file, which is a sequence of modeling commands. As an event-driven commands set, the standard macro file can transfer design intents such as parameters, features and constraints. Moreover it is suitable for the network environment because the standard macro commands are open, explicit, and the data size is small. This paper introduces the concept of the macro-parametric method and proposes its representation using XML technology. Representing the macro-parametric data using XML allows managing vast amount of dynamic contents, Web-enabled distributed applications, and inherent characteristic of structure and validation.

  • The corrosion of metals and alloys in flowing liquids can be classified into uniform corrosion and localized corrosion which may be categorized as follows. (1) Localized corrosion of the erosion-corrosion type: the protective oxide layer is assumed to be removed from the metal surface by shear stress or turbulence of the fluid flow. A macro-cell may be defined as a situation in which the bare surface is the macro-anode and the other surface covered with the oxide layer is the macro-cathode. (2) Localized corrosion of the differential flow-velocity corrosion type: at a location of lower fluid velocity, a thin and coarse oxide layer with poor protective qualities may be produced because of an insufficient supply of oxygen. A macro-cell may be defined as a situation in which this surface is the macro-anode and the other surface covered with a dense and stable oxide layer is the macro-cathode. (3) Localized corrosion of the active/passive-cell type: on a metal surface a macro-cell may be defined as a situation in which a part of it is in a passivation state and another in an active dissolution state. This situation may arise from differences in temperature as well as in the supply of the dissolved oxygen. Compared to uniform corrosion, localized corrosion tends to involve a higher wall thinning rate (corrosion rate) due to the macro-cell current as well as to the ratio of the surface area of the macro-anode to that of the macro-cathode, which may be rationalized using potential vs. current density diagrams. The three types of localized corrosion described above can be reproduced in a Jet-in-slit test by changing the flow direction of the test liquid and arranging environmental conditions in an appropriate manner.

  • A coordination method for a macro/micro robot with separate controllers is proposed and evaluated. The macro/micro robot system generally has independent controllers for the macro and the micro robot respectively. A controller for the coordination of the macro and the micro robot has been designed based on the stable independent controller of each system. The method and trajectory generation method is also proposed to track the moving desired position rapidly. The control method and trajectory generation method is also proposed to track the moving desired position rapidly. The control strategy has been implemented to the macro/micron robot system to evaluate the performance. The experimental results show that the proposed method for maintaining the micro robot within its workspace has uniform performance over the various range of the bandwidth and the proposed trajectory generator is shown to be efficient.

  • Macro-model of magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) for spin transfer torque magnetic random access memory (STT-MRAM) has been developed. The macro-model can describe the dynamic behavior such as the state change of MTJ as a function of the pulse width of driving current and voltage. The statistical behavior has been included in the model to represent the variation of the MTJ characteristic due to process variation. The macro-model has been developed in Verilog-A.
