기계가공작업을 위한 강성이 큰 2단 평행구조 로보트 암 설계 (Design of a High Stiffness Machining Robot Arm with Double Parallel Mechanism)

  • Industrial robot has played a central role in the production automation such as welding, assembling, and painting. There has been, however, little effort to the application of robots in machining work(grinding, cutting, milling, etc.) which is typical 3D work. The machining automation requires a high stiffness robot arm to reduce deformation and vibration. Conventional articulated robots have serially connecting links from the base to the gripper. So, they have very weak structure for he machining work. Stewart Platform is a typical parallel robotic mechanism with a very high stiffness but it has a small work space and a large installation space. This research proposes a new machining robot arm with a double parallel mechanism. It is composed of two platforms and a central axis. The central axis will connect the motions between the first and the second platforms. Therefore, the robot has a large range of work space as well as a high stiffness. This paper will introduce the machining work using the robot and design the proposed robot arm.

  • To machine the micro hole, laser machining system is widely used, however, the system cannot fabricate the micro hole with high aspect ratio and good surface finish. To break the obstacles, the high frequency vibration mechanism with PZT (Piezoelectric Transducers) is proposed in this paper. The mechanism will vibrate the laser beam in vertical direction so that the aspect ratio and surface finish may be higher than the conventional. The mechanism vibrates the eyepiece of laser optics. In addition to the benefits, the mechanism enables us to have high precision and flexibility. It decreases burr and debris during machining. And it is able to machine various materials of workpiece. This research include high frequency and large travel range of the proposed mechanism. The PZT motion of mechanism and analysis on the sensitivity of design parameters are extracted from a finite element method (FEM) simulation. In the analysis, the target vibration mode without parasitic motion is designated to have the target frequency and high amplitude.

  • An ultrasonic machining process is efficient and economical means for precision machining of glass and ceramic materials. However, the mechanism of the process with respect to the crack initiation and propagation and the stress development in the ceramic workpiece subsurface arc still not well understood. In this research, we have investigated the basic mechanism of ultrasonic machining of ultrasonic machining of glass by the experimental approach. For this purpose, we designed and fabricated the desktop micro ultrasonic machine. The feed is controlled precisely by using the constant load control system. During machining experiments, the effects of abrasive characteristics and machining conditions on the surface roughness and the material removal rate are measured and compared.

  • This paper presents the experimental results to verify the environmental consciousness with economic balances due to cutting fluid behaviors and effectiveness in machining process. The cutting fluid improves the productivity through cooling, lubricating effects, however its environmental impact also increases according to the cutting fluid usage. The primary mechanism in this study is the spin-of motion of cutting fluids away from the rotating workpiece. In this study some machining parameters are adopted to analyze the productivity as well as environmental impact. This study provides the criteria for the resonable cutting fluid usage quantitatively to develop the environmentally conscious machining process.

Clay가공에 있어서 Burr 생성기구에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bburr Formation Mechanism in Clay Machining)

  • A burr has been defined as an undesirable projection of material formed as the result of plastic flow from a cutting or shearing operation. It is Unavoidable in all kinds of machining operation. This paper describe the burr formation mechanism which is based on the behavior of workpiece material during orthogonal machining of the clay on the milling machine. Specially in this report the rollover burr is dealt as a specific case of the chip formation in the final stage of cutting. The negative shear angle is introduced as an important features of burr formation. It is found that the burr formation process is divided into three stage-initiation, development of negative shearing, and formation of the burr with appropriate assumptions. Using above the burr formation mechanism, the size of burr can be estimated by cutting conditions.

볼 나사와 서보모터 메커니즘에 의한 고속 TOOL 이송장치 (High Speed Tool Feed System by the Mechanism of Ball Screw and Servo Motor)

  • In this study, the Ball screw and Servo motor Mechanism is considered as a High Speed Tool Feed System for the machining of a piston of a reciprocating engine. For the machining of a piston, that shapes oval, high speed servo mechanism is needed as a positioning of a cutting tool, and the stroke of tool is 0.1 mm ~ 1 mm. Ball screw and servo motor Mechanism is available very much because this mechanism is used widely in general machine. This Mechanism has been designed with the use of the decrease in mass and partial wear of the ball screw for high speed positioning of tool. Also the periodic learning control method with the inverse transfer function compensation has been applied to the positioning control for the high accuracy positioning of tool. These applications lead the achievement of the machining of a piston with an accuracy of 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ at 2500 rpm in CNC turning.

미러 타입 컨쥬게이트 캠의 설계와 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design and Machining of the Mirror Type of Conjugate Cam)

  • A mirror cam mechanism a kind of conjugate cam mechanism consists of two cams, two rollers, and two links. Since profiles of two mirror cam are identical, a simultaneous machining of two cams is achievable. Some machining errors on cam profiles do not result in the internal acting force, which often causes problems in high speed cam mechanism between two links. Also, since angular accelerations of two links are same, the internal acting force by the difference of the angular accelerations does not occur in the mechanism. Thus the mirror cam mechanism is very useful in high speed machinery. This paper studies a design method as well as a machining method, and develops an exclusive CAD/CAM software for mirror cam profiles. The developed CAD/CAM software is applied to a typical mirror cam mechanism and a mock-up equipment is built in order to test the machinism mirror cm. Experimental investigations show that the contact between cam surface and roller surface according to cam rotation agrees well with the simulation on the developed CAD/CAM software.

  • A stable rotational-to-linear motion transformation structure using a driving mechanism with 2 degrees of freedom was developed for an orthogonal mechanism to prevent the interference of each axis in 2D motion. In this mechanism, a step motor was used for precise position control. This structure was developed to maneuver workparts in micro particle blast machining experiments. To determine the real-time performance of micro particle blast machining, the control, input, and output were operated simultaneously and precise position control was implemented, using a timer interrupt with multiple execution codes. The two step motors obtained precise position control by removing backlash with a ball-screw mechanism. The device has menu-type control codes for user-friendliness, and real-time sequence control was simultaneously adopted for user control input.

초음파 드릴링의 기하학적 가공 메커니즘 분석 (The Geometric Machining Mechanism of Ultrasonic Drilling)

  • With the acceleration of the miniaturization of products, especially in recent years, machining technologies for these products is in need of improvement. Conventional technologies have limitations in realizing the miniaturization due to the downsizing effects of the tools, which lack sufficient cutting stiffness during machining. The application of ultrasonic vibration is one of the most useful solutions in dealing with the problem. This study focused on the difference of ultrasonic drilling from conventional one in geometrical machining mechanism and the corresponding machining results. In detailed, some mathematical equations for drill cutting edge paths during drilling were extracted and new method to find uncut chip thickness from above equations was suggested. The experiments were carried out through the comparison between the results (disposed chips and internal surface states of holes) of conventional drilling and those of ultrasonic drilling. It was determined that the geometrical paths of cutting edges and analyzed uncut chip thickness agree with the appearance of disposed chips. Furthermore, the change in tool path by ultrasonic vibration resulted in the improvement of surface statement.

좌표계 맵핑을 이용한 다축 CNC 머시닝센터에서의 캠 가공에 관한 연구 (Study On Manufacturing of General Cam Using Coordinate Mapping in Multi CNC Machining Center)

  • Cylindrical Cam Mechanism is widely used in the fields of industries, such as machine tool exchangers, textile machinery. This paper proposes a method for manufacturing of cylindrical cam in Multi CNC machining center. Multi CNC machining center has two different types depending on the tilting axis. For the manufacturing procedures. in this paper the location and the orientation of cutter path are defined from shape design data of cam. The integral NC code fur the both types of multi-axis CNC machining center can be created using the coordinates mapping between design coordinates and work coordinates. Finally, CAD/CAM program is developed on $C^{++}$ language. This program can display manufacturing and kinematics simulation, which can make integral NC code for multi-axis CNC machining center of two types.
