The main purpose of this paper is to show the realizaability of the proposed highly effective direction finiding method which performs extremely well under the circumstances like low signal-to-noise ratio (S/N), very closely located signal sources, and so on. In order to achieve the purpose, the degree to which the proposed method is superior to the MUSIC(multiple signal classification) with respect to the S/N is discussed, and the result is analyzed in terms of the S/N and the number of sample data.

In this paper we propose a waveform design algorithm that localizes the maximum output power in the target direction. We extend existing monostatic radar optimal waveform design schemes to bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems. The algorithm simultaneously calculates the direction of departure (DoD) and the direction of arrival (DoA) using a two-dimensional multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method, and successfully localizes the maximum transmitted power to the target locations by exploiting the calculated DoD. The simulation results confirm the performance of the proposed algorithm.

Radar target identification can be achieved by using various radar signatures, such as one-dimensional(1-D) range profile, 2-D radar images, and 1-D or 2-D scattering centers on a target. In this letter, five 1-D scattering center extraction methods are discussed - TLS(Total Least Square)-Prony, Fast Root-MUSIC (Multiple Signal Classification), Matrix-Pencil, GEESE(GEneralized Eigenvalues utilizing Signal-subspace Eigenvalues), TLS-ESPRIT(Total Least Squares - Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Technique), These methods are compared in the context of estimation accuracy as well as a computational efficiency using a noisy data. Finally these methods are applied to the target classification experiment with the measured data in the POSTECH compact range facility.

This paper presents an SVD(Singular Value Decomposition)-Pseudo Spectrum method for SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging. The purpose of this work is to improve resolution and target separability of SAR images. This paper proposes SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method whose advantages are noise robustness, reduction of sidelobes and high resolution of spectral estimation. SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method uses Hankel Matrix of signal components and SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) method. In this paper, it is demonstrated that the SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method shows better performance than the matched filtering method and the conventional super-resolution based multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method in SAR image processing. The targets to be separated are modeled, and this modeled data is used to demonstrate the performance of algorithms.
This paper considers the acoustical characteristics of the closing click sounds of the mechanical valves employed in an implantable biventricular assist device (BYAD) and their re1evance to the Physical states of the valved. Bj rk Shiley Convexo Concave tilting disk valve was chosen for the study and acoustic measurement was made for the BYAD operated in a mock circulatory system as well as implanted in an animal (sheep). In the BYAD operated in the mock circulatory system. three different states of the valve were examined, ie. normal. mechanically damaged. pseudo-thrombus attached. Microphone measurement for the BVAD implanted in the animal was carried out for five days at a regular time interval from one day after implantation. Characteristic spectrum of the sound from the valve was estimated using Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) in which the optimal order was determined according to Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) . It was observed that the mechanical damage of the valve resulted in changes of the structure of the acoustic spectrum. In contrast. the thrombus formed on the valve did not change much the basic structure of the spectrum but brought about altering the spectral Peak frequencies and energies. Maximum spectral Peak (MSP) with the greatest energy was seen at 2 kHz for the normal valve and it was shifted to 3 kHz for the calve attaching the Pseudo-thrombus. Unlike the normal valve, strong spectral Peak appeared around 7 kHz in the sound from the valve mechanically damaged. In the case of the BYAD implanted in the animal. as the thrombus grew, acoustic energy was reduced relatively more in the low frequency components (〈 2 kHz) and the frequencies of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd MSP were increased little. The thrombus formation would result in reduction in both the variability of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd MSP and the value of the BIC optimal order.
In this paper, we propose a computationally efficient direction of arrival (DoA) estimation algorithm based on propagator method with non-uniform array. While the co-prime array techniques can improve the resolution of DoA, they generally lead to high computational complexity as the length of the coarray aperture. To reduce the complexity we use the propagator method that does not require singular value decomposition (SVD). Through simulations, we compare MUSIC with uniform lineary array, propagator method with uniform linear array, MUSIC with co-prime array, and the proposed scheme and observe that the performance of the proposed scheme is significantly better than MUSIC or propagator method with uniform linear array while it is slightly worse than computationally much more expensive co-prime array MUSIC scheme.

Convenience and safety are the key words for the automotive driving and various sensor technologies have been studied for enhanced perception of driving environments. In frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar systems, single antenna is enough for range and velocity detection of multiple targets. Multiple array antenna is needed for estimating direction of arrival(DoA). Using DoA estimation algorithm in time domain as in the conventional systems, it is difficult to distinguish vehicles lie in the same angle. In order to facilitate the enhanced angle estimation, DoA estimation algorithm is applied in frequency domain. In this paper, the method for applying multiple signal classification(MUSIC) algorithm in frequency domain is suggested and the performance is analyzed.
In this paper, design and implementation issues for a network-oriented RF emitter localization system with array antenna are discussed. For hardware, the problem of array mismatch and RF/IF channel mismatch are introduced and the calibration schemes for solving those problems are also provided. For software, it is explained how to overcome the drawback of conventional MUltiple Signal Identification and Classification (MUSIC) algorithm in a point of identifying the number of received signals and problems such as Data Association Problem and Ghost Node Problem in regard to multiple emitter localization are presented with some approaches for getting around those problems. Finally, for implementation, a criterion for arranging each of sensors and a requirement for alignment of array antenna' orientation are also given.

In this paper, the wideband direction finding algorithm and system design method for short duration signal such as frequency hopping or burst signal is presented. The polyphase filterbank that it is possible for the near perfect reconstruction was used as a pre-processing and in each subband power measurement was performed to determine whether the presence of a signal and finally general direction finding algorithm was performed. In addition, various experiments was performed using Matlab Simulink and collected data from wideband receiver to verification of the proposed algorithm.
The public open signals from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) including Global positioning system (GPS) are used widely by many peoples in the world except for the public regulated restriction signals which are encrypted. Nowadays there are growing concerns about GNSS signal spoofing which can deceive the GNSS receivers by abusing these open services. To counter these spoofing threats, many researches have been studied including array antenna techniques which can detect the direction of arrival by means of Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. Originally the array antenna techniques were developed to countermeasure the jamming signal in electronic warfare by using the nulling or beamforming algorithm toward a certain direction. In this paper, we study the anti-spoofing techniques using array antenna to overcome the jamming and spoofing issues simultaneously. First, we will present the theoretical analysis results of spoofing signal response of Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) algorithm in array antenna. Then the eigenvector algorithm of covariance matrix is suggested and verified to work with the existing anti-jamming method. The modeling and simulation are used to verify the effectiveness of the anti-spoofing algorithm. Also, the field test results show that the array antenna system with the proposed algorithms can perform the anti-spoofing function. This anti-spoofing method using array antenna is very effective in the view point of solving both the jamming and spoofing problems using the same array antenna hardware.
