  • For the optimal achievement of system goals through a systematic analysis of the complex problems, systems engineering provides us the concepts and methodology that include comprehensive interpretability (or understandability), universal applicability, and feasibility. Under this aspect, the main objective of this study is that it introduces mathematical system theory (MST) as the fundamental tool of SE into the Inventory Control among the related parts with IE, and review it's applicability. Through its work, we can find that it has the alternative aspects with which it can replace other existing methods for problem-solving in understanding and analyzing structurally systems in themselves as well as being considerable of the time evolutionary process of a given system.

  • In this paper, the digital model of the micro-factory has been established, inspected and evaluated by progress of assembly, manipulation and examination. The new paradigm of the system analysis is realized by digital simulation of the factory. The digital manufacturing system of the micro-factory was simulated through UML(Unified Modeling Language) with the object-oriented logical model analysis method and then the micro lens module assembly system was simulated with MST(Micro System Technology) Application Module.

  • Recent manufacturing system requires development on new production technology to enable prompt manufacturing of diverse products. Most of the researchers have been working on micro-factory. Especially, focus on manufacturing of micro parts. Present manufacturing system consumes excessive resources in the form of energy and space to manufacture the micro parts. In this study, the micro lens module assembly system was modeled, analyzed with MST(Micro System Technology) Application Module and simulated through UML Language (Unified Modeling Language) with object-oriented logical model analysis method. Digital model of micro-factory was modeled, to execute the new paradigm of digitalization on products, resources and processes of micro-factory.

  • The Hippo signaling pathway plays an essential role in adult-tissue homeostasis and organ-size control. In Drosophila and vertebrates, it consists of a highly conserved kinase cascade, which involves MST and Lats that negatively regulate the activity of the downstream transcription coactivators, YAP and TAZ. By interacting with TEADs and other transcription factors, they mediate both proliferative and antiapoptotic gene expression and thus regulate tissue repair and regeneration. Dysregulation or mutation of the Hippo pathway is linked to tumorigenesis and cancer development. Recent studies have uncovered multiple upstream inputs, including cell density, mechanical stress, G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling, and nutrients, that modulate Hippo pathway activity. This review focuses on the role of the Hippo pathway as effector of these biophysical cues and its potential implications in tissue homeostasis and cancer.

  • The rectilinear Steiner tree problem is to find a minimum-length rectilinear interconnection of a set of terminals in the plane. It is well known that the solution to this problem will be the minimal spanning tree (MST) on some set Steiner points. A hybrid evolutionary algorithm is introduced based upon the Prim algorithm. The Prim algorithm for the fitness evaluation requires heavy calculation time. The fitness value of parents is inherited to their child and the fitness value of child is estimated by the inherited structure of tree. We introduce four alternative evolutionary algorithms, Experiment result shows that the calculation time is reduced to 25% without loosing the solution quality by using the fitness estimation.

  • Draft is defined as an unwanted local cooling of the human body caused by air movement. It is a serious problem in many ventilated or air conditioned buildings. Often draft complaints occur although measured velocities in the occupied zone maybe lower than prescribed in existing standards. Purpose of this study is to clarify the evaluation of thermal comfort based on temperature and air velocity in winter. Experiments were performed in an environmental chamber in winter. Indoor temperature and air velocity was artificially controlled. The experiments were performed to evaluate temperature conditions and air velocity conditions by physiological and psychological responses of human. According to physiological responses and psychological responses, it was clear that the optimum air velocity is about 0.15 m/s and 0.30 m/s.

  • The pharmacological interest coupled with traditional uses (antidiarrhoeal, antiseptic, analgesic etc) prompted us to test for anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive and diuretic activitities of Trema (T.) orientalis Linn. The crude methanolic leaves extract of T. orientalis was investigated for its possible anti-inflammatory activities using carrageenin induced rat paw edema model and cotton pellet implantation method in mice. Then the extract analyzed for its antinociceptive activities by acetic acid induced writhing model in mice. The extract possessed significant anti-inflammatory activity in both models at the doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight of mice. Moreover, the extract showed significantly reduced the number of acetic acid-induced abdominal constriction in mice of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight. The extract also showed positive diuretic activity in albino mice.

  • In this study, an intelligent scheduling with hybrid architecture, which integrates expert system and neural network, is proposed. Neural network is trained with the data acquired from simulation model of FMC to obtain the knowledge about the relationship between the state of the FMC and its best dispatching rule. Expert system controls the scheduling of FMC by integrating the output of neural network, the states of FMS, and user input. By applying the hybrid system to a scheduling problem, the human knowledge on scheduling and the generation of non-logical knowledge by machine teaming, can be processed in one scheduler. The computer simulation shows that comparing with MST(Minimum Slack Time), there is a little increment in tardness, 5% growth in flow time. And at breakdown, tardness is not increased by expert system comparing with EDD(Earliest Due Date).

  • This paper introduces an algorithm to construct an Eulerian cycle for Chinese postman problem. The Eulerian cycle is formed only when all vertices in the graph have an even degree. Among available algorithms to the Eulerian cycle problem, Edmonds-Johnson's stands out as the most efficient of its kind. This algorithm constructs a complete graph composed of shortest path between odd-degree vertices and derives the Eulerian cycle through minimum-weight complete matching method, thus running in $O({\mid}V{\mid}^3)$. On the contrary, the algorithm proposed in this paper selects minimum weight edge from edges incidental to each vertex and derives the minimum spanning tree (MST) so as to finally obtain the shortest-path edge of odd-degree vertices. The algorithm not only runs in simple linear time complexity $O({\mid}V{\mid}log{\mid}V{\mid})$ but also obtains the optimal Eulerian cycle, as the implementation results on 4 different graphs concur.
