  • This paper presents a method of landmark recognition in indoor environments using a neural-network for an autonomous mobile robot. In order to adapt to image deformation of a landmark resulted from variations of view-points and distances, a multi-labeled template matching(MLTM) method and a dynamic area search method(DASM) are proposed. The MLTM is. used for matching an image template with deformed real images and the DASM is proposed to detect correct feature points among incorrect feature points. Finally a feed-forward neural-network using back-propagation algorithm is adopted for recognizing the landmark.

  • Blasting is necessary for excavation processes since more than 70% of korean land is consist of mountains. The vibration and noise accompanied by blasting processes usually bring about public complaints. Blasting patterns are chosen by economical efficiency, stability and construction conveniency. However, there are many alternatives without control to settle the popular complaint. To prevent those alternatives, standard blasting method for design and construction were suggested by MLTM (Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs) in 2006. However, standard blasting pattern of MLTM was designed in a lump irrespective of types of rocks. Economical loss may occur by ignoring the characteristics of rocks for the applications to the rocks with low intensity, such as shale, or containing many joint. We deduced some economical progresses by performing test blasting with adjusted drilling spacing and length of burden considering the characteristics of local rock. This paper suggests the start of case studies for different applications. Economic improvement can be expected by applying those results deduced from case studies to design and construction.

Ship Sewage Treatment Using Fixed Media Method (고정식 메디아법을 이용한 선박의 오폐수 처리)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop Sewage Treatment Plant that treat sewage which occurred in ship using fixed media method and to consider applicable to the Pilot Scale device of the STP regulations in MLTM(Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs) and MEPC(Marine Environment Protection Committee). In test results, pH geometric mean was 7.68, $BOD_5$(Biochemical Oxygen Demand) geometric mean was 7.28 mg/l, $COD_{cr}$(Chemical Oxygen Demand) geometric mean was 48.39 mg/l, TSS(Total Suspended Solid) geometric mean was 18.00/l, Residual chlorine geometric mean was 0.19 mg/l, and E. coli geometric mean was 1CFU/100 ml. In addition, about 97.4% of $BOD_5$ was reduced, the $COD_{cr}$ reduction averaged 96.4%and the TSS reduction averaged 97.6%. STP have been determined by the MLTM and MEPC regulation of the marine pollution prevention equipment for performance testing product.

A Study on Development of Remote Site Monitoring System in Public Road Construction Projects (공공 도로건설사업에서의 원격 현장모니터링 체계 구축에 관한 연구)

  • PURPOSES : Efficiency Improvement of a public road construction project management work using the development of a real-time remote site monitoring system METHODS : In this study, we developed the remote site monitoring system using a web camera for road construction projects in the RCMA(Regional Construction Management Administration). We can be monitored a construction progress and a weak point of the situation in real time using this. To achieve this, we tested about 10 road construction projects ordered by RCMA. Then, we verified a applicability for the site monitoring system in future. RESULTS : Take advantage of the remote site monitoring system consists of the Construction CALS System, one of the business systems used in the part of the MLTM(Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs) institution-agencies. Was configured to be served through the "Construction CALS System" of "Construction Management System(Contractors)" and the "Construction CALS Portal System". Through this, Benefit analysis through a pilot application of the 10 road construction sites and developing considerations and "Guide for visual information processing equipment installation-operating in construction sites"are presented. CONCLUSIONS : Through the establishment of remote site monitoring system can improve the efficiency of construction management services. In addition, Various disasters and calamities, accidents and illegal construction will be prevented in advance is expected. This is expected to further improve the quality of the facilities.

  • In this paper, we investigate the scheme to improve the position accuracy using GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System). Then we configure the real-time DGPS environment with use of NTRIP currently being in service on the DGNSS central office of MLTM(Ministry of Land and Transportation). And we verify the improvement of position accuracy and the continuity of GPS correction data through the DGPS test in Chungbuk line and Joongang line.

  • This paper presents a method of navigation sign recognition in indoor environments using a fuzzy inference for an autonomous mobile robot. In order to adapt to image deformation of a navigation sign resulted from variations of view-points and distances, a multi-labeled template matching(MLTM) method and a dynamic area search method(DASM) are proposed. The DASM is proposed to detect correct feature points among incorrect feature points. Finally sugeno-style fuzzy inference are adopted for recognizing the navigation sign.

  • According to national regulations and its commentary, such as Rivers Design Criteria & Commentary (KWRA, 2009), Foundation Structure Guideline and its Commentary(MLTM, 2014 and KGS, 2009), the integrity evaluation of river levee includes slope stability evaluation of both riverside/protected low-land and piping stability evaluation with respect to foundation and levee body along with water level conditions. In this case the design hydro-graph can be the most important input factor for the integrity evaluation, however it is fact that the national regulations do not provide any proper determination methods regarding hydro-graph. The authors thus executed an integrity evaluation of sluice gate in levee by changing each hydro-graph factor, including rising ordinary water level, lasting flood water level, falling water level, and flood frequency, in order to suggest a determination method of reasonable hydro-graph. As a result, the authors suggested that at least over 57 hours of rising ordinary water level and over 53 hours of lasting flood water level should be considered for the design hydro-graph of sluice gate in levee at Mun-san-jae.

  • This research adopted a Robust Decision Making framework to re-evaluate four alternative strategies proposed by the Comprehensive Flood Management Plan for the Yeongsan River Basin report (MLTM, 2005) considering uncertainties of future floods under condition of climate change. To reflect the uncertainties, multiple sets of future flood scenarios were used with three uncertainty factors: the change in rainfall intensity based on the RCP climate change scenarios and the changes in the temporal and the spatial flood distributions. With combinations of these factors, 216 plausible flood scenario sets were generated and the performances of the four alternatives under different future states were evaluated. From the results, the most robust alternative among the strategies was identified. Moreover, the key factors which made the tested alternatives poor were discovered through assessment of the uncertainty factors. This information can provide detailed insights to decision makers and can be utilized to overcome alternatives' potential vulnerabilities by modifying the strategy to be more robust.
