In this paper, we study mobile data collector (MDC) based data-gathering schemes in wireless sensor networks. In Such networks, MDCs are used to collect data from the environment and transfer them to the sink. The majority of existing data-gathering schemes suffer from high data-gathering latency because they use only a single MDC. Although some schemes use multiple MDCs, they focus on maximizing network lifetime rather than minimizing packet delay. In order to address the limitations of existing schemes, this paper focuses on minimizing packet delay for given number of MDCs and minimizing the number of MDCs for a given delay bound of packets. To achieve the minimum packet delay and minimum number of MDCs, two optimization problems are formulated, and traveling distance and traveling time of MDCs are estimated. The interior-point algorithm is used to obtain the optimal solution for each optimization problem. Numerical results and analysis are presented to validate the proposed method.

The comparison work was conducted for the methanol steam reforming among commercial Cu-based catalysts, viz. ICI-M45, which is for the methanol synthesis, MDC-3 and MDC-7, which are for the water-gas shift reaction. The catalytic activity for the water-gas shift reaction was also compared over three catalysts. Among them, MDC-7 showed the highest methanol conversion and formation rate of hydrogen and carbon dioxide at 473 K for the methanol steam reforming. To find out any promotional effect between ICI-M45 and MDC-7, three different packing methods with these two catalysts were examined. However, no synergistic effect was observed. The catalytic activity for watergas shift reaction decreased in the following order: MDC-7 > MDC-3 > ICI-M45. The highest activity of MDC-7 for the methanol steam reforming as well as the water-gas shift reaction can be due to its high surface area, copper dispersion, and an adequate Cu/Zn ratio.

An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the reinforcing effect of marine dredging clay(MDC) mixed with the Micro-Fiber(MF). A series of laboratory tests was performed using specimens of MDC alone and MDC with MF by means of uniaxial and triaxial compression test. In the test programme, three stages of water content of MDC were chosen according to the elapsed time after dredging, and content and length of MF were considered as important factors for reinforcing effect. And the developed strength due to curing was measured both in MDC and composite. The enhancement of strength of composite was found to be increased with the increasing content and length of MF, and curing time, and with decreasing water content of MDC. An additional study has been made for in-situ trafficability on the soft reclaimed ground by MDC due to high water content. It was found that the waste lime was to be applicable for this purpose to get a reinforcing effect of MDC. A further study would lead to the better understanding of the reinforcing mechanism of the composite.

This paper proposes the Minimum-Distance Classification(MDC) processor using the Residue Number System(RNS). The proposed MDC Processor in this paper is efficient for real-time pattern clustering application and illustrate satisfiable error rate in application experiments of image segmentation but error rate increase as cluster number do.
The effects of adding mechanically deboned chicken (MDC) hydrolysates on the quality characteristics of imitation crab stick (ICS) during storage were investigated. ICS was prepared from Alaska Pollack, chicken breast surimi, and protein hydrolysates enzymatically extracted from MDC. ICS samples were divided into 4 groups: without protein hydrolysate (control), added with 0.5% protein hydrolysate (T1), added with 1.0% protein hydrolysate (T2), and added with 1.5% protein hydrolysate (T3). Results showed that crude protein content did not differ significantly among the ICS samples (p>0.05). ICS sample added with MDC hydrolysates had higher crude fat and ash content but lower moisture content than the control (p<0.05). Lightness was significantly lower in T2 and T3 than in the other groups at 0 and 4 wk of storage. Also, whiteness decreased in the groups contained MDC hydrolysates. Breaking force and jelly strength were higher in samples containing MDC hydrolysates compared to control samples (p<0.05). Additionally, saturated fatty acid contents were lower in the groups containing MDC hydrolysates than in control sample groups (p<0.05). Polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) and essential fatty acids (EFA) were significantly higher in T2 and T3 than the control samples. In particular, all samples containing MDC hydrolysates had reduced thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) values at 4 wk. Free radical scavenging activity also was increased with addition of MDC hydrolysates.
Citrus fruit contain various flavonoids that have multiple biological activities. However, the content of these flavonoids are changed during maturation and immature Citrus is known to contain larger amounts than mature. Chemokines are significant mediators for cell migration, while thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC/CCL17) and macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC/CCL22) are well known as the typical inflammatory chemokines in atopic dermatitis (AD), a pruritic and chronic inflammatory skin disease. We reported recently that the EtOH extract of immature Citrus unshiu inhibits TARC and MDC production. Therefore, we investigated the activity of flavonoids contained in immature Citrus on TARC and MDC levels. As a result, among the various flavonoids, quercetagetin has stronger inhibitory effects on the protein and mRNA expression of TARC and MDC than other flavonoids. Quercetagetin particularly has better activity on TARC and MDC level than quercetin. In HPLC analysis, the standard peak of quercetagetin matches the peaks of extract of immature C. unshiu. This suggests that quercetagetin is an anti-inflammatory component in immature C. unshiu.

We have investigated the novel function of tissue transglutaminase (tTG) in the germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) of mouse oocyte. tTG was identified in ooplasm and germinal vesicle by immunostaining assay. Spontaneous maturation of the oocytes elevated in situ activity of tTG by over 2.5 fold at 3 hr, which was determined by a confocal microscopic assay. However, incubation with monodansylcadaverine (MDC), a tTG inhibitor, blocked the activation of tTG. The possible role of tTG in GVBD was investigated by the use of two tTG inhibitors, MDC and cystamine. MDC largely inhibited the GVBD by a concentration dependent manner. GV-stage oocytes were matured to the GVBD stage by 78% at 3 hr in BWW culture medium. However, in the oocytes incubated with MDC for 3 hr, the GVBD rates were 43 and 11% by 50 and 100 mM, respectively. MDC also blocked the entry of 70 kDa TRITC-dextran from the ooplasm to the compartment of germinal vesicle, indicating a possible inhibition of nuclear pore disassembly by MDC. The role of tTG in GVBD was further investigated by microinjection with cystamine. The control oocytes, injected with DPBS, showed about 80 % of GVBD at 3 hr. But the oocytes injected with cystamine showed 15% of GVBD at 3 hr and a little higher rate at 6 hr. In addition, the inhibition of GVBD maturation by MDC was reversible by washing. These results suggested that tTG was involved in the early event of mouse oocyte maturation

This paper proposed the new eight-parallel MDC FFT processor using the eight-parallel MDC architecture and the efficient scheduling scheme. The proposed FFT processor supports the 256-point FFT based on the modified radix-$2^6$ FFT algorithm. The proposed scheduling scheme can reduce the number of complex multipliers from eight to six without increasing delay buffers and computation cycles. Moreover, the proposed FFT processor can be used in OFDM systems required high throughput and low hardware complexity. The proposed FFT processor has been designed and implemented with a 90nm CMOS technology. The experimental result shows that the area of the proposed FFT processor is $0.27mm^2$. Furthermore, the proposed eight-parallel MDC FFT processor can achieve the throughput rate up to 2.7 GSample/s at 388MHz.
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory skin disease commonly characterized by infiltration of inflammatory cells into skin lesions. Keratinocytes produce many chemokines that are involved in the pathogenesis of skin disorders. In particular, macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC/CCL22) and thymus and activationregulated chemokine (TARC/CCL17) are Th2-type cytokines. Serum MDC and TARC levels are increased in AD patients. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effect and mechanism of action of the active fraction from Prunus yedoensis bark. We evaluated their inhibitory effects on the AD-like inflammatory markers (MDC and TARC) and JAK-STAT pathway (STAT1) in HaCaT keratinocytes. The EtOAc fraction of the crude extract (80% EtOH) and the E5 sub-fraction potently inhibited the induction of MDC and TARC mRNA and protein at 50 ${\mu}g$/mL in HaCaT cells. In addition, the E5 sub-fraction inhibited the phosphorylation of STAT1 protein associated with IFN-$\gamma$ signaling transduction in a dose-dependent manner. Thus, P. yedoensis may have antiatopic activity by suppressing the inflammatory chemokines (MDC and TARC).
