  • FEM analysis is essential to shorten the development time and reduce the cost for developing high-performance machine tools. Mount joint parts play important role to ensure static and dynamic stability of machine tools. This paper suggests a computational modeling of mount joint part of machine tools. MATRIX27 element of ANSYS is adopted to model mount joint parts. MATRIX27 allows the definition of stiffness and damping matrices in matrix form. The matrix is assumed to relate two nodes, each with six degrees of freedom per node. Stiffness and damping values of commercial mount products are measured to build a database for FEM analysis. Jack mounts with rubber pad are exemplified in this paper. The database extracted from the experiments is also used to estimate of stiffness and damping of untested mounts. FEM analysis of machine tools system with the suggested mount computational model is performed. Static and dynamic results prove the feasibility of the suggested mount model.

  • An analytical solution for the tensile ductility in porous ductile materials was derived based on an Irwin's approach of the elastic-plastic deformation in fracture mechanics. This was in good agreement with the experimental results of a tensile ductility in a sintered pure Al, and could solve the discrepancies in the Brown and Embury, or the McClintock models. This model was also offered as an advanced analytical solution considering the effect of stress triaxiality of pore tip in addition to pore interactions, material properties of matrix, and local deformation effect around pore. The evaluation of an analytical solution in the sintered pure Al powder compacts showed that the tensile ductility depends not only on the volume fraction of pores, but also on the pore size and on the mechanical properties of the matrix. The tensile ductility of the sintered pure Al compacts decreased rapidly with the increasing of a pore volume fraction, despite of the excellent tensile ductility of the matrix. This significant decrease in the tensile ductility was mainly attributed to the low yield strength of the matrix and small pore size. Particularly, the effects of the large radius and high volume fraction of the pore on the tensile ductility in Al-Form, were thus reasonably predicted by this analytical equation.

  • A simplified rotary heat-exchanger model was developed with an assumption of a linear temperature distribution along the flow direction. Based on the model, the exact fluid solution and solid temperature variations were obtained and verified from a comparison with previous numerical studies. The heat transfer in the rotary heat exchanger was investigated using the theoretical solutions. The heat exchanger's effectiveness was shown to be saturated, with a rotational-speed increase that is higher than a critical value that is solely dependent on the thermal capacity of the solid matrix but independent of the fluid flow rate; the saturated value of the effectiveness was determined only by the NTU of the heat exchanger. Where the thermal diffusivity of the solid matrix is so slight that the thermal penetration depth becomes smaller than the matrix thickness, the effective thermal capacity of the solid matrix decreased according to the penetration depth.

  • We consider the nonlinear matrix equation (NMEs) of the form 𝓤 = 𝓠 + Σki=1 𝓐*iℏ(𝓤)𝓐i, where 𝓠 is n × n Hermitian positive definite matrices (HPDS), 𝓐1, 𝓐2, . . . , 𝓐m are n × n matrices, and ~ is a nonlinear self-mappings of the set of all Hermitian matrices which are continuous in the trace norm. We discuss a sufficient condition ensuring the existence of a unique positive definite solution of a given NME and demonstrate this sufficient condition for a NME 𝓤 = 𝓠 + 𝓐*1(𝓤2/900)𝓐1 + 𝓐*2(𝓤2/900)𝓐2 + 𝓐*3(𝓤2/900)𝓐3. In order to do this, we define 𝓕𝓖w-contractive conditions and derive fixed points results based on aforesaid contractive condition for a mapping in extended Branciari b-metric distance followed by two suitable examples. In addition, we introduce weak well-posed property, weak limit shadowing property and generalized Ulam-Hyers stability in the underlying space and related results.

  • This work sought to examine the suitability of twin roll strip casting for Ag-27%Cu-25%Zn-3%Sn brazing alloy (BAg-7A) and to investigate the mechanical properties and microstructure of the strip. The effect of aging heat treatment on the properties was also studied,. This new manufacturing process has applications in the production of the brazing alloy. XRD and microstructural analysis of the Ag-27%Cu-25%Zn-3%Sn strip represented eutectic microstructure of a Cu-rich phase and a Ag-rich matrix regardless of heat treatment. The results of mechanical tests showed tensile strength of 470MPa, a significant enhancement, and an 18% elongation of the twin roll casted strip, due mainly to the solid solution strengthening of Zn atoms (${\sim}20%$) in the Cu-rich phases. Tensile results showed gradually decreasing strengths and increasing elongation with aging heat treatment. Microstructural evolution and fractography were also investigated and related to the mechanical properties.

  • A portfolio matrix analysis was conducted to improve R&D productivity of the government-funded R&D projects in the energy sector. 27 projects (42 detailed technologies) in 2018 were evaluated on a 5-point scale in terms of availability and technology competitiveness, and portfolio matrix analysis was conducted twice. The results of the portfolio matrix analysis could provide the landscape of on-going R&D projects at a time and could be utilized as feedback data to establish development strategies for individual projects, while establishing differentiated management directions to improve R&D productivity in each of the four areas of the portfolio matrix.

  • A word cloud is a visualization of word frequency in a given text. The importance of each word is shown in font size or color. This plot is useful for quickly perceiving the most prominent words and for locating a word alphabetically to determine its relative prominence. With dynamic graphics, we can find the changing pattern of prominent words and their frequencies according to the changing selection of chapters in a given text. We can define the word frequency matrix. In this matrix, rows are chapters in text and columns are ranks corresponding to word frequency about the words in the text. We can draw the word frequency matrix plot with this matrix. Dynamic graphic can indicate the changing pattern of the word frequency matrix according to the changing selection of the range of ranks of words. We execute an English Bible text visualization using word clouds and dynamic graphics technology.

  • Jacket matrices which are defined to be $n{\times}n$ matrices $A=(a_{jk})$ over a field F with the property $AA^+=nI_n$ where $A^+$ is the transpose matrix of elements inverse of A,i.e., $A^+=(a_{kj}^-)$, was introduced by Lee in 1984 and are used for signal processing and coding theory, which generalized the Hadamard matrices and Center Weighted Hadamard matrices. In this paper, some properties and constructions of Jacket matrices are extensively investigated and small orders of Jacket matrices are characterized, also present the full rate and the 1/2 code rate complex orthogonal space time code with full diversity.

  • For real generalized reflexive matrices R, S, i.e., $R^T$ = R, $R^2$ = I, $S^T$ = S, $S^2$ = I, we say that real matrix X is (R,S)-symmetric, if RXS = X. In this paper, an iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the least-squares problem of matrix equation AXB = C with (R,S)-symmetric X. Furthermore, the optimal approximation solution to given matrix $X_0$ is also derived by this iterative algorithm. Finally, given numerical example and its convergent curve show that this method is feasible and efficient.

  • A mixed powder of electrolyte and matrix support materials with a proper proportion was used for the fabrication of an electrolyte matrix sheet. The purpose of this study is to reduce the large change in MCFC cell thickness occurring in the initial start-up period when separate sheets of electrolyte and support are used. A focus was put on how small the carbonate particles could be made. The particle size of the carbonate powder was controlled by ball milling and the distribution was measured using a particle size analyser. The thickness change was reduced to 20% by this approach, which could be compared to 27% observed in a conventional cell. The thickness changes of electrolyte matrix have linear relation sizes of carbonate powders.
