열전달 질량유량계 개발 (Development of Thermal Mass Flow Meter)

  • Thermal mass flow meter was developed using principle of convective heat transfer. The advantage of thermal mass flow meter is measuring mass flow directly, therefore, it is not required to use densitometer or temperature/pressure and DP gages. The final accuracy of this thermal mass flow meter is $\pm1.0{\%}$ or better, reproducibility is $\pm0.2{\%}$, and the response time is 600 ms. The thermal mass flow meter was developed from a single point to multi-points (maximum is 9 points), and the number of points is determined according to desired accuracy and size of piping/duct. Since this thermal mass flow meter adopted microprocessor based design, it is intrinsically accurate, self-error detectable, and has self-diagnosis function. The applications of this thermal mass flow meter are for measurement and control of HVAC air flow, other gas flow, and liquid flow.

  • 액체산소의 유량을 측정하기 위해 두 가지 형태의 다공성 오리피스 미터를 제작하여 물을 이용하여 $C_d$를 측정하였다. 다공 오리피스 미터와 코리올리 미터를 직렬로 연결하고 액체산소를 흘려보내는 유동시험을 수행하여 물을 이용하여 구한 $C_d$를 이용하여 질량유량을 산출하였다. 코리올리 미터를 기준으로 할 때 A 형(1/2")의 경우 0.4%, B 형(3/4")의 경우 0.8% 이하의 오차를 확인하였다.

유동 가스 온도 변화에 따른 삼각 분리 막대형 차압 유량계 유량 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flow Rate Characteristics of a Triangular Separate Bar Differential Pressure Flow Meter according to the Variation of Gas Flow Temperature)

  • Differential pressure flow meters which have a shape of triangular separate bar(TSB) were tested for investigating the flow rate characteristics of the flow meters with varying the temperature of the gas flow. Three kinds of the triangular separate bar flow meters whose aerodynamic angles are different one another are used. The mass flow rate of the flow meters are evaluated using a non-dimensional parameter which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters, and atmospheric pressure. A burner system which is similar to gas turbine was used for raising the gas flow temperature. The burner system was operated with varying the air/fuel ratio by controlling both the fuel injection rate from the fuel nozzle and air flow rate from a blower. An empirical correlation between the mass flow rate at the TSB flow meter and the non-dimensional parameter was obtained. The empirical correlation showed linear relationship between the mass flow rate and the non-dimensional parameter H. Also, the mass flow rate characteristics at the TSB flow meter was affected by the gas temperature.

삼각 분리 막대형 차압유량계 압력탭 조건이 유량 측정에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Pressure Tapping Conditions on Flow Rate Measurement of Triangular Separate Bar Differential Pressure Flow Meter)

  • Flow characteristics of differential pressure flow meters which have a shape of triangular separate bar (TSB) was investigated according to the machining conditions in pressure tapping holes. Diameter of the pressure taping holes is either 1.0 mm or 1.5 mm. Also, number of the pressure tapping holes are drilled either 9 or 17. The mass flow rate of the TSB flow meters are calibrated with a laminar flow meter by connecting them in line. The mass flow rate in the TSB flow meters are plotted with a non-dimensional parameter H which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters. An empirical correlation between the mass flow rate at the TSB flow meter and the non-dimensional parameter H was obtained. The empirical correlation showed highly linear relationship between the mass flow rate and the non-dimensional parameter H. The hole size of the pressure tapping holes has a bigger effect on the flow rate than the number of the tapping holes.

  • Three-way catalyst converter, cleaning up the exhaust gas contamination of SI engine, has the best efficiency when A/F ratio is near the stoichiometry . The feedback control using oxygen sensors in the exhaust manifold has limits caused by the system delays. So the accurate measurement of air flow rate to an engine is essential to control the fuel injection rate especially on transient condition like the rapid throttle opening and closing. To measure the rapid change of flow rates. the air flow meter for the engine requires quick response, flow reversal detection, and linearity . Tjhe proposed integration type air flow meter (IFM), composed of an ultrasonic flow meter with an integration circuit, has significantly improved the measurement accuracy of air mass inducted through the throttle body. The proposed control method estimated the air mass at the cylinder port using the measured air mass at the throttle . For the fuel dynamic model, the two constant fuel model is introduced . The control parameters from air and fuel dynamics are tuned to minimize the excursion of the air fuel ratio. As a result A/F ratio excursion can be reduced within 5% when throttle rapidly opens and closes at the various engine conditions.

  • 가열식 액체용 질량유량계측기(LMFM, Liquid Mass Flow Meter)에 대하여 수치해석적으로 분석하였으며 실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 기존의 기체용 질량유량계측기(GMFM, Gas Mass Flow Meter)와 동일한 구조로 설계하였으나 계측온도차는 기체용에 비하여 정 반대의 특성을 나타낸다. 기체는 열용량이 작아서 계측관벽을 통한 전도열전달이 기체의 유동에 따른 대류열전달에 대응할 정도이므로 이들 상호작용의 결과 상 하류 써미스터의 온도차가 질량유량에 비례한다. 반면, 열용량이 큰 액체의 경우 대류열전달이 지배적이 되어 계측관벽을 통한 전도열전달이 무시되며, 결과적으로 온도차가 질량유량에 반비례한다. 계측관경과 히터의 권선폭은 LMFM 의 중요한 설계인자로서 각각 최적화가 필요하다. 최적화 설계를 통하여 제작한 계측기는 반도체 생산장비의 극소유량 정밀제어 및 공급용으로 사용할 수 있다.

SI엔진의 정상상태 유량 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of the Air Flow Rate Characteristics at Steady State in an SI Engine)

  • In an SI engine, the characteristics of the air flow is important not only for the design of the intake system geometry but also for the accurate measurement of the induction air mass. In this study, an air flow rate measurement using the ultrasonic flow meter and hot wire flow meter was conducted at the upstream of the intake port and the throttle. At the upstream of the intake port, the pulsating flow into the cylinder affected by the pressure wave was detected directly with the flow meters instead of pressure sensors. At the upstream of the throttle, the reverse flow phenomena were showed by comparing the flow pattern measured by the hot wire air flow meter and the ultrasonic air flow meter. The results of this study can be used for the analysis of the tuning effect in the intake manifold and estimation of the error in real time measurement for the air flow rate.

릴리프밸브 쿠션기구 내장형 공기압 실린더의 구동 특성 (Driving Characteristics of Pneumatic Cylinder with Relief Valve Cushion Devices)

  • This paper presents the meter-out and meter-in speed control characteristics of a pneumatic cylinder with relief valve type cushion device. The piston displacement and velocity are measured to investigate high speed driving performance with variation of the pressure setting in relief valve, air supply pressure, load mass, the supply and exhaust flow rate from the cylinder. Also, the internal pressures and temperatures driving pressure and cushion chamber are measured. The piston displacements and velocities of meter-out and meter-in control are compared experimentally determined data. A comparison experimental data meter-out and meter-in control show that a relief valve type cushion device is suitable for high speed pneumatic cylinders. The desired response characteristics of piston displacement and velocity are satisfactory adjust the pressure setting of a relief valve with varying system parameters such as air supply pressure, load mass and controlled flow rate.

열량형 질량 유량계의 성능 평가 (A Study on the Performance of Thermal Mass Flowmeter)

  • Thermal mass flow meter(TMF) and thermal mass flow controller(MFC) were used to measure and to control the mass flow rate of gases. TMF and MFC were designed for specified working pressure and gas. For the case of different working pressure and gases, the flow rate measurement accuracy decreased dramatically. In this study, a TMF and MFC was tested with three different gases and pressure range from 0.2 MPa up to 1.0 MPa. Effect of specific heat causes to increase flow measurement error as much as ratio of specific heat compared with reference gas. Changing of pressure causes to increase flow rate measurement error about -0.2% as the working pressure decreased 0.1 MPa. Response time of MFC was below 3.12 s for the case of increasing of flow rate. But the response time was increased up to 6.92 s for the case of decreasing of flow rate. When the solenoid valve was fully closed, a initial delay time of output of MFC was increased up to 1.36 s.

$Annubar^{(R)}$형 차압유량계 형상 개선에 따른 유량 특성 연구 (A Study on Flow Rate Characteristics of a $Annubar^{(R)}$ Type Differential Pressure Flow Meter with a Shape Improvement)

  • The inner structure of the triangular separate bar (TSB) was improved to enhance the productivity of the TSB flow meter by simplifying the machining process for making the flow meter. The cross section of upstream and downstream pressure chamber in the TSB was changed from triangle to circle, which make it possible to substitute the wire cutting by drilling in the process of machining the pressure chamber. The flow rate characteristics of the flow meters was calibrated with a laminar flow meter. Six kinds of flow meters whose diameters of pressure tap for measuring pressure of both upsteam and downstream pressure chamber were different one another were made. The effects of the pressure tap diameter on the flow rate characteristics of the TSB flow meter was little. The mass flow rate characteristics of the flow meters with increasing a non-dimensional parameter which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters and atmospheric pressure shows nearly linear relationship with a correlation coefficient of R=0.998.
