  • Purpose: This study was to explore family member's caregiving stress and satisfaction of care for patients with dementia in long term care facilities and day care centers. Methods: The subjects were 129 family members of elders with dementia from ten long term care facilities and eight day care centers in Daegu and Kyungsangbukdo. Data were collected from August to October, 2007. The instruments were self administered questionnaires and included. The Family Perceptions of Caregiving Role (FPCR) and the Family Perceptions of Care Tool (FPCT) which were developed by Maas and Buckwalter (1990) and translated by Park (2002). Results: Family member's care giving stress in day care centers were higher than that of long term care facilities (t=-2.89, p=.005) especially in the categories of captivity (t=-3.27, p=.001), guilty (t=-2.93, p=.004), and loss (t=-2.44, p=.016). Family member's satisfaction of care in day care centers was higher than that of long term care facilities (t=-3.21, p=.002) in the (use - categories or measures since you are referring to the instrument and delete aspects) aspects of effective management (t=-3.69, p=.000) and activity (t=-2.00, p=.045). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that family members' perceptions toward their care giving roles and satisfaction of care differ whether the facilities are long term care or day care centers. This study provides baseline data that could be used for improving the quality of long term care services.

  • The combined bundle block adjustment with projection center coordinates determined by kinematic DGPS-positioning has reached a high level of accuracy. Standard deviations of the ground coordinates of $\pm{10cm}$ or even better can be reached. On this accuracy level also smaller error components are becoming more important. One major point of this is the interpolation of the projection centers as a function of time between the GPS-antenna locations. A just linear interpolation is not respecting the not linear movement of the aircraft. Based on a least squares polynomial fitting the aircraft maneuver can be estimated more accurate and blunders of the GPS-positions caused by loss of satellite and cycle slips are determinable. The interpolation with a time interval of 3sec in the study area RHEINKAMP is quite different to the interpolation with a time interval of 6-7sec in the study area MAAS. The GPS-positions of the study area are identified as blunders based on a local polynomial regression. This cannot be neglected for precise block adjustment.

  • Objectives The Behavioral Activation of Depression Scale (BADS) has been reported to be a valid tool for assessing the different behavioral aspects of depression, such as activation, rumination or avoidance, and functional impairment. The aim of this study was to assess the reliability and validity of the Korean version of BADS (K-BADS). Methods A sample of 196 outpatients completed the K-BADS and the data were analyzed for internal consistency and factor structures. An additional 51 outpatients re-filled the K-BADS after two weeks for the test-retest reliability. To test for the validity, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Working Alliance Inventory (WAI), Drug Attitude Inventory-10 (DAI-10), and Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) were administered. Results Internal consistency of K-BADS was good (Cronbach's alpha=0.843) and principal component factor analysis revealed the four-factor structure. The K-BADS showed a reasonable test-retest reliability (r=0.863, p<0.001). The total score of K-BADS correlated significantly with the total scores of the HADS depression (r=-0.694) and HADS anxiety (r=-0.681). No correlations were found between the K-BADS and the K-WAI (r=0.170) and between the K-BADS and the K-DAI-10 (r=0.311). Conclusion The K-BADS is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring the behavioral activation for depression in Korean patients with depressive symptoms.

  • In the experiment I for maas production of bovine early embryos, 18~20hpi fertilized eggs (756 eggs) and parthenogenic eggs (618 eggs) which were treated by 10% ethanol were cultured in both TGM and CZB. In the experiment II, suppiment effects each in CZB and CRlaa were tested by matured and fertilized oocytes which were after 18~20hpi. In the case of experiment I after 48hr, the cleavage rates of normally fertilized eggs were 66.6% in TCM treatment and 77.7% in CZB treatment, and after 240h the blastocysts were 7.5% in TCM and 14.1% in CZB. In the parthenogenic eggs, the deavage rates at 48hr were 39.6% in TCM and 57.5% in CZB, and at 240h, the blastocysts were 0.9% in TCM and 4.4% in CZB. These results showed that the effects of CZB on developmental ability to parthenogenic eggs as well as nomally fertilized eggs are relatively high. In experiment W, the effect of exposing the cleaved embryos to CZB for 30h on the blastocyst formation was examined. Similar rates of blastocyst formation were obtained both in TCM and CZB, suggesting that CZB exposure. during ealry development is critical. In experiments III ~ V, the effects of supplements were examined. The cleavage rates of CZB treatments at 48h were 83.8% in control, 78.1% in BSA+A.A+SIT, 75% in 5% FCS+A. A+SIT, 88.6% in BSA+A.A+SIT and not co-cultured BSA+A.A+SIT had 85.7% and in the case of 240h blastocysts showed 22.6, 0.0, fl.1, 6.5 and 0%, respectively. As a result, this study showed that CZB was effective culture system for in vitro development, and that CZB and CR$_1$aa had no significant differences and effects between them. It may be concluded that in the simple media containing supplements could replace the co-culture systems of bovine early embryo development.

  • Growth and pigment responses to different levels of solar radiation with or without ultraviolet (UV)-B component $({\lambda}=280-315nm)$ were investigated in Antarctic rhodophytes, Kallymenia antarctica and Palmaria decipiens, collected around King George Island during the summer of 2000. In K. antarctica specific growth rate, based on thallus area or fresh weight, decreased with increasing solar irradiances while P. decipiens were relatively insensitive to the effects of light. It is noticeable that the presence or absence of UV-B had no significant effect on growth for either species. However, K. antarctica showed a more pronounced reduction in chlorophyll (Chl a) concentrations at higher irradiances in the presence of UV-B. In P. decipiens, Chl a concentrations did not differ despite radiation level fluctuations being lower albeit than initial measurements. Thallus thickness was greater in K. antarctica than in P. decipiens. There were higher relative amounts of UV-absorbing pigments (UVAPs) in P. decipiens than in K, antarctica. The single absorbance peak obtained from the methanol extracts was resolved into three (316,332 and 346nm) in K. antarctica and four peaks (315,326,333 and 349 nm) in Palmaria as a result of the fourth-derivative. After 7 days exposure to solar radiation, the amount of UVAPs in K. antarctica was significantly reduced to a similar degree at all light levels, whereas that of P. decipiens remained unchanged except at 5% of surface irradiance. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of purified extracts indicated that P. decipiens possesses porphyra-334 in addition to three other mycosporine-like anlino acids (MAAs; asterina-330, palythine, shinorine), which are commonly present in K. antarctica. Significantly lower tolerance of K. antarctica to high levels of solar radiation may be connected with its usual absence in the eulittoral, while the active growth and elastic pigment responses of P. decipiens over a wide range of solar irradiance levels up to full sunlight seems to correspond well with its wide vertical distribution from rock pools down to 25-30m.

  • With commercial apps popular in EU, MaaS has been emerging around the globe as a new approach to worsening urban traffic problems. In contrast, it is still mainstay in Korea simply discussing the concept and necessities of MaaS, rather than seeking for real-world solutions for the commercialization. The purpose of this research is to analyze the demand-side i1mpacts of travel time and cost changes according to MaaS adoption, and to see its commercial feasibility in Korea. The 2010 KTDB traveler's nationwide OD data is used to estimate the level of fare discount for balancing the mode shift and fare revenue changes followed by MaaS implementation. The analysis results show that MaaS leads to the increase of public transport ridership as a result of the diminishing travel cost and time, and that the time saving works more positively for ridership increase. Also, the optimum level of fare discount is estimated 2.56% without damaging the revenue. This finding reveals that MaaS impact is superior to the other single-sided public transport inventive measures since it can affect both travel cost and time reduction at the same time.
