BRACKET과 호선의 금속유리 (METAL RELEASE FROM BRACKETS AND ARCHWIRES)

  • The purpose of this experiment was to measure the amounts of nickel and chromium released from a simulated orthodontic appliance in artificial saliva. Simulated mandibular half-arch orthodontic appliances were composed of American Iron and Steel Institute type 304 brackets, Permachrome, Elgiloy, Australian wire, T.M.A. and Nitinol. The amounts of nickel and chromium released from sample were measured with atomic absorption spectrophotometer after 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 days. The cumulative amounts of nickel released from Permachrome, Elgiloy, Australian wire and T.M.A. reached a plateau after 6 days. But the cumulative amounts of nickel released from Nitinol increased continuously. Significant amounts of both nickel and chromium were solubilized from the simulated orthodontic appliances into artificial saliva. After 15 days, total cumulative amounts of nickel were $152.15{\mu}g$, $150.27{\mu}g$, $134.74{\mu}g$, $114.67{\mu}g$ and $93.39{\mu}$ from the Elgiloy, Australian wire, Nitinol, Permachrome and T.M.A., respectively. Total cumulative amounts of chromium from Permachrome, Australian wire, Elgiloy, Nitinol and T.M.A. were $100.83{\mu}g$, $83.64{\mu}g$, $81.61{\mu}g$, $14.90{\mu}g$ and $12.43{\mu}g$, respectively. The result showed that nickel released from Elgiloy and chromium released from Permachrome were more than any others.

Spectroscopic and Photometric Investigation of BS Cassiopeiae

  • New high-resolution spectra and multi-band photometric data of BS Cas were obtained at the Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory in 2018 and at the Jincheon Station of the Chungbuk National University Observatory in 2011, respectively. We measured the radial velocities (RVs) for both components, and the effective temperature of the more massive star was determined to be $6262{\pm}56K$. In addition, historical light curves showed strong time-dependant light variations at the total eclipse. These variations were modeled by a cool spot on the more massive component. Finally, the physical parameters of BS Cas by a simultaneous analysis of our RV curves with the photometric light curves were presented. Individual masses and radii of both components were deduced as $M_1= 0.59{\pm}0.07M_{\odot}$, $M_2=1.47{\pm}0.15M_{\odot}$, $R_1=0.94{\pm}0.03R_{\odot}$ and $R_2=1.47{\pm}0.05R_{\odot}$.

증숙 건조 방식으로 제조한 돼지감자차의 성분 및 기능성 (Components and Function of Artichoke Tea Prepared by Steaming and Drying Method)

  • 돼지감자를 9번 찌고 9번 말려서 차를 제조한 다음 M사의 돼지감자차와 성분 및 기능성을 비교 분석하였다. 개발한 돼지감자차는 칼로리 342.27kcal, 탄수화물 73.87g/100g, 유리당 32.66mg/100g, 회분 6.80g/100g, 단백질 8.21g/100g이었고 무기물 총량은 2,785.67mg/100g, 칼륨 2,563.93mg/g, 칼슘 97.52mg/g, 마그네슘 88.78mg/g 등이었다. 돼지감자차의 유리당 총량은 32.66mg/100g이고 그중 fructose 17.40mg/100g, sucrose 9.03mg/100g, glucose 6.05mg/100g이었다. 돼지감자 차의 포화지방산은 30.34mg/100g, 4 불포화지방산은 69.66mg/100g이었고 그 중 linoleic acid 47.00mg/100g, palmitic acid 25.31mg/100g, linolenic acid 8.61mg/100g이었다. DPPH 라디컬 소거력은 개발한 차 34.2%, 비교용 M사차 5.2%, 지표물질 44.0%였다. ABTS 라디컬 소거력은 개발한 차 93.0%, M사차 61.9%, 지표물질 47.6%였다. SOD 유사활성은 개발한 차 2.7%, M사차 1.6%였다. 플라보노이드 함량은 개발한 차 2.8 fold, M사차 2.0 fold, 지표물질 1.7 fold 였다. 폴리페놀 함량은 개발한 차 38.2 fold, M사차 8.92 fold, 지표물질 14.0 fold였다. ${\alpha}$-Glucosidase 저해율은 개발한 차 9.83%, M사차 8.92%였다. 기호도는 1회 우린 것과 5회 우린 것을 비교하였다. 1회 우린 것을 기준으로 할 때 5회 우린 것의 기호도 중 색은 개발한 차 83.7%, 비교용 차 50.0%, 향기는 개발한 차 78.0%, 비교용 차 42.5%, 맛은 개발한 차 66.7%, 비교용 차 37.5%, 종합적인 기호도는 개발한 차 73.3%, 비교용 차 47.5%로 나타났다. 이같이 비교용 M사차는 우릴수록 추출 성분이 감소하여 5회 후에 종합적인 기호도는 46.3%로 감소한 반면 개발한 차는 감소폭이 적어서 73.3%를 나타냈다. 이같이 개발한 돼지감자차는 비교용 M사차 및 지표물질보다 항산화 작용이 강하고 유효 물질 함량도 더 많고, 기호성도 높으므로 질병 예방 및 개선 효과가 클 것으로 생각한다.

Morphological Analysis of the Myelinated Parent Axons that Innervate Rat Upper Molar Pulps in the Trigeminal Ganglion

  • Previous studies suggested that myelinated axons innervating rat molar pulps undergo morphological changes in their peripheral course. However, little information is available on the morphological feature of the parent axons at the site of origin. We therefore investigated the size of the myelinated parent axons and their morphological features at the proximal sensory root of the trigeminal ganglion by horseradish peroxidase (HRP) injection into rat upper molar pulps and subsequent light and electron microscopy. A total of 248 HRP-labeled myelinated axons investigated were highly variable in the size. Fiber area, fiber diameter, axon area (axoplasm area), axon diameter (axoplasm diameter), and myelin thickness were $11.32{\pm}8.36{\mu}m^2(0.80{\sim}53.17{\mu}m^2)$, $3.99{\pm}1.53{\mu}m(1.08{\sim}9.26{\mu}m)$, $8.70{\pm}6.30{\mu}m^2(0.70{\sim}41.83{\mu}m^2)$, $3.13{\pm}1.13{\mu}m(0.94{\sim}7.20{\mu}m)$ and $0.43{\pm}0.23{\mu}m(0.07{\sim}1.06{\mu}m)$, respectively. The g-ratio (axon diameter / fiber diameter) of the labeled axons was $0.79{\pm}0.05$ (0.61~0.91). Axon diameter was highly correlated with myelin thickness (correlation coefficients, r=0.83) but little correlated with g-ratio (r=-0.33) of individual myelinated parent axons. These results indicate that myelin thickness of the myelinated parent axons innervating rat molar pulps increase with increasing axon diameter, thus maintaining a constant g-ratio.

전뇌 허혈성 흰쥐 모델에서 mBHT의 신경보호효과 연구 (Neuroprotective effect of modify Bo-Yang-Hwan-O-Tang on global ischemia in rat)

  • Objectives : Modified Bo-Yang-Hwan-O-Tang (mBHT) is a polyherbal medicine of twelve herbs traditionally used in the treatment of cerebral and cardiac stroke and vascular dementia. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the neuroprotective effect, pyramidal neuronal cell, inflammation and apoptosis of mBHT against global ischemia in rats. Methods : Global ischemia was produced by two-vessel occlusion(2-VO) in SD male rats. mBHT at dose of 500 mg/kg was orally administrated for 2 weeks or 6 weeks after global ischemia. The histopathological changes of ischemic brain were observed by staining of hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and Nissl and immunohistochemisty with anti-GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) antibody as a astrocyte marker. The expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and apoptotic proteins such as Bax, Bcl-2 and caspase-3 was determined by western blot. Results : mBHT treatment significantly inhibited the pyramidal neuronal loss in CA1 of hippocampus of global ischemic rats by 2-VO. mBHT also suppressed the activation of astrocytes in the CA1 at 6 weeks after ischemia. In addition, mBHT significantly increased the expression of anti-apoptotic protein, Bcl-2 on iscemic brain, and significantly attenuated the expression of apoptotic proteins, Bax and caspase-3. Conclusions : These results indicate that mBHT inhibits neuronal cell damage induced in global ischemia by 2-VO, suggesting that mBHT may be a potential candidate for the treatment of vascular dementia.

모데미풀 자생지의 환경특성과 식생 (Environmental Characteristics and Vegetation of Megaleranthis saniculifolia Ohwi Habitats)

  • 특산속 식물인 모데미풀의 자생지 식생을 비롯해 환경 및 토양 특성을 조사하여 보존 및 복원 시 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 모데미풀의 자생지는 770~1,440m에 위치하고, 경사는 $0{\sim}20^{\circ}$로 완만하였으며, 주로 계곡부 북사면에 불연속적인 군락을 형성하고 있었다. 식생분석결과 78개 방형구 내에서 조사된 분류군은 총 111종류였다. 중요치는 모데미풀이 27.05%로 가장 높았으며, 모데미풀과 비슷한 환경을 선호하는 분류군으로는 박새 (5.67%), 현호색 (5.32%), 눈개승마 (4.35%), 벌깨덩굴(4.06%), 홀아비바람꽃(3.91%) 등으로 나타났다. 자생지 상층 수목 중 교목층은 층층나무, 가래나무, 신갈나무, 당단풍나무, 고로쇠나무 등이 우점종으로 나타났고, 아교목층은 당단풍나무와 까치박달이 높은 빈도를 보였으며, 관목층은 물참대와 귀룽나무가 우점하였다. 종다양도는 평균 1.16이었고, 우점도와 균등도는 각각 0.12와 0.81로 나타났다. 토양의 포장용수량은 평균 26.41%이었으며, 유기물 함량은 7.83%로 나타났고, pH는 5.83으로 확인되었다. 환경특성과 식생 및 토양 분석 결과에 기초한 상관분석에서는 경사와 pH, 경사와 유기물함량, 우점도와 중요치, 종다양도와 종풍부도가 정의 상관관계를, 우점도와 종다양도, 종다양도와 중요치는 부의 상관관계를 보였다.

상어 껍질과 육으로부터 산 및 Pepsin 가용성 콜라겐의 추출과 탈색조건 (Extraction and Bleaching of Acid- and Pepsin-Soluble Collagens from Shark Skin and Muscle)

  • 상어의 껍질과 육 조직으로부터 산 (citric acid) 가용성 콜라겐 (ASC)과 pepsin 가용성 콜라겐 (PSC)의 추출 및 탈색조건을 조사하였다. 비 콜라겐 단백질을 제거하기 위한 적정 NaOH 농도는 0.3 N이었으며 처리시간은 9시간이었다. 상어껍질의 탈색은 생 원료에 대하여 10배량의 0.48% sodium hypochlorite로 60분간 처리하는 것이 적절하였다. ASC 및 PSC의 추출시 산의 적정농도는 각각 0.3 M 및 0.1 M이었고, 추출시간은 각각 72시간 및 24시간 이었다. 산가용성 콜라겐인 ASSC (citric acid soluble shark skin collagen)와 ASMC (citric acid soluble shark muscle collagen), pepsin 가용성 콜라겐인 PSSC(pepsin and citric soluble shark skin collagen)와 PSMC (pepsin soluble shark muscle collagen)에 함유된 총 단백질 함량은 각각 88.66, 83.09, 90.33 및 84.81% (dry basis)이었으며 시판 표준 콜라겐의 88.86%와 대등하였다. Hydroxyproline의 함량으로부터 산출한 순 콜라겐 함량은 ASC에서는 25.70~70.31%, PSC에서는 32.94~83.09%이었다. 상어육과 껍질 (dry basis) 100 g으로부터 얻을 수 있는 콜라겐의 수율은 ASC는 53.85~57.22%, PSC는 20.81~23.28%이었다.

Angle I 급 부정교합자의 제2대구치 석회화 과정에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON CALCIFICATION OF THE SECOND MOLARS IN ANGLE CLASS I MALOCCLUSION)

  • To study the calcification of second molars in Class I malocclusion with normal craniofacial structure, the author examined cephalograms, orthopantomograms, periapical films of 538 children from 7 y 0 m to 15y 11m old who had Class I malocclusion with normal craniofacial structure, and observed the calcification stage of upper and lower second molars. The results are as follows. 1. The mean ages of crown completion of upper and lower second molars are $8.82{\pm}1.14,\;8.72{\pm}0.75$ in boys, and $8.60{\pm}1.46,\;8.22{\pm}0.92$ in girls. 2. The mean ages of root completion of upper and lower second molars are $14.25{\pm}1.46,\;14.15{\pm}0.83$ in boys, and $14.12{\pm}0.93,\;14.15{\pm}0.83$ in girls. 3. There are no difference between the calcification stages of upper second molars and those of lower second molars in both sexes.

진동(振動)을 이용(利用)한 감자수확기계(收穫機械)의 개발(開發) (Development of an Oscillating Potato Harvester)

  • An oscillating potato digger for power tillers was designed and constructed to evaluate the effects of vibration on potato digging. Changing the levels of amplitude, frequency, and travel speed, 16 combinations of such parameters were tested in the potato field. The measured variables were harvesting loss and damage, and storing loss of the mechanically harvested potatoes. It was observed that the operation of the digger blade was good with amplitude of 12 mm, frequency of 9.67 Hz, and travel speed of 0.87 km/hr. Under these conditions the harvesting loss and damage were 3.18 % and 0.67 % that are very lower than those of 6.83 % and 9.83 % of traditional harvesting method. The operating efficiency of the experimental digger under optimum operating conditions was about 552 $m^2$ per hour which was about 20 times higher than 27.2 $m^2$ per man per hour of traditional harvest.

Annealing Effect of Permeability Spectra in Amorphous Fe83Zr7B8Cu2

  • The frequency spectra of complex permeability have been measured as a function of ac field amplitude in the annealed amorphous $Fe_{83}Zr_7B_8Cu_2 $ ribbons. The longitudinal permeability results from the rotational magnetization at small fields, $h_o$<5 mOe in as-quenched samples. However, at the further increase of ho, the wall motion begins to be involved in the low frequency region. The permeability from the wall motion drastically decreases in the annealed sample, while that from the rotational magnetization increases up to annealing temperature of 50$0^{\circ}C$ and then drops there after.
