  • Every finite solvable group is only a subgroup of an M-groups and all M-groups are solvable. Supersolvable group is an M-groups and also subgroups of solvable or supersolvable groups are solvable or supersolvable. But a subgroup of an M-groups need not be an M-groups . It has been studied that whether a normal subgroup or Hall subgroup of an M-groups is an M-groups or not. In this note, we investigate some historical research background on the M-groups and also we give some conditions that a normal subgroup of an M-groups is an M-groups and show that a solvable group is an M-group.

  • If $m$ and $n$ are non-negative integers, then three new classes of abelian $p$-groups are defined and studied: the $m$, $n$-simply presented groups, the $m$, $n$-balanced projective groups and the $m$, $n$-totally projective groups. These notions combine and generalize both the theories of simply presented groups and $p^{w+n}$-projective groups. If $m$, $n=0$, these all agree with the class of totally projective groups, but when $m+n{\geq}1$, they also include the $p^{w+m+n}$-projective groups. These classes are related to the (strongly) n-simply presented and (strongly) $n$-balanced projective groups considered in [15] and the n-summable groups considered in [2]. The groups in these classes whose lengths are less than ${\omega}^2$ are characterized, and if in addition we have $n=0$, they are determined by isometries of their $p^m$-socles.

  • We aimed to determine the dietary myo-inositol (MI) requirements of Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. A basal diet was formulated without myo-inositol (M0) and a negative control diet (M0-) was prepared by adding tetracycline hydrochloride to the basal diet to prevent intestinal inositol synthesis. Five MI diets were prepared by adding MI at 300, 600, 900, 1,200 and 1,500 mg/kg to the basal diet (designated as, M300, M600, M900, M1200 and M1500, respectively). Triplicate groups of shrimp (initial body weight, 0.55±0.01 g) were fed one of the experimental diets for 42 days. The growth performance of shrimp in M0- group was significantly lower when compared to that of shrimp in M0, M1200 and M1500 groups. Feed efficiency was significantly improved in M1200 and M1500 groups when compared to the M0 and M0- groups. GPx activity was significantly higher in M1200 and M1500 groups compared to that in M0 and M0- groups. Therefore, a practical diet (over 240 mg/kg) meets the minimum MI requirements of Pacific white shrimp. However, the optimum dietary MI level would be potentially above 1,200 mg/kg for better feed utilization efficiency and antioxidant capacity of Pacific white shrimp.

  • To demonstrate the effect of massages on the skeletal muscles of immobilization ddY mice models induced by right side sciatic nerve neurectomy, the cross sectional histological profiles of the muscularis (M) gastrocnemius, M. tibialis cranialis and M. tibialis caudalis were observed after 28 days of treatment of massages with the changes of body weight, thickness of hind limb and individual muscle weights. In addition, changes of serum aspartate amino- transferase (AST) and creatine phosphokinase (CK) levels were also demonstrated with diameter of individual muscle fiber and muscle fasciculata, and number of muscle fiber in each of three types of muscles located in the calf. The experimental groups were divided into five groups, 1) Sham-operated group (Sham), 2) Neurectomized but not massage control group (Control), 3) Neurectomized and massage at knee joint regions (T1), 4) Neurectomized and massage at calf regions (T2), and 5) Neurectomized and massages at achilles tendon regions (T3). The experimental animals were used 5 per groups. The results are as follow: 1. No significant changes of body weight were demonstrated in this groups during whole experimental periods compared to that of Sham group. In addition, no significant changes of body weight gains during experimental periods (Day 0 - Day 27: 28 days of treatment) were also observed. 2. The thickness of intact left side hind limb was not changes in all tested groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the thickness of right side hind limb were remarkedly decreased in Control, T1, T2 and T3 groups compared to that of Sham group. In addition, the differences of thickness of hind limb between right and left sides were also significantly increased in Control and massage groups (T1, T2 and T3) compared to that of Sham group. However, the thickness of right side of hind limb were significantly increased and the differences of thickness between both sides of hind limb were dramatically decreased in massage groups compared to that of Control group in followed order: T1 > T3 > T2. 3. Absolute and relative weight of M. gastrocnemius in the intact left side of hind limb was not changes in all tested groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the weight of right side M. gastrocnemius were remarkedly decreased in Control, T1, T2 and T3 groups compared to that of Sham group. In addition, the differences of weight of M. gastrocnemius between right and left sides were also significantly increased in Control and massage groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the weight of right side M. gastrocnemius were significantly increased and the differences of weight between both sides of M. gastrocnemius were dramatically decreased in massage groups compared to that of Control group in followed order: T3 > T1 >. 4. Absolute and relative weight of M. tibialis cranialis in the intact left side was not changes in all tested groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the weight of right side M. tibialis cranialis were remarkedly decreased in Control, T1, T2 and T3 groups compared to that of Sham group. In addition, the differences of weight of M. tibialis cranialis between right and left sides were also significantly increased in Control and massage groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the weight of right side M. tibialis cranialis were significantly increased and . the differences of weight between both sides of M. tibialis cranialis were dramatically decreased in massage groups compared to that of Control group in followed order: T3 > T1 > T2. 5. Absolute and relative weight of M. tibialis caudalis in the intact left side was not changes in all tested groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the weight of right side M. tibialis caudalis were remarkedly decreased in Control, T1, T2 and T3 groups compared to that of Sham group. In addition, the differences of weight of M. tibialis caudalis between right and left sides were also significantly increased in Control and massage groups compared to that of Sham group. However, the weight of right side M. tibialis caudalis were significantly increased and the differences of weight between both sides of M. tibialis caudalis were dramatically decreased in massage groups compared to that of Control group in followed order: T3 > T1 > T2. 6. A significant increase of serum AST levels were demonstrated in Control group. However, serum AST levels of massage groups were significantly decreased compared to that of Control group in followed order: T3 > T1 > T2. In case of 73 group, the values decreased into similar levels compared to that of Sham group. 7. A significant increase of serum CK levels were demonstrated in Control group. However, serum CK levels of massage groups were significantly decreased compared to that of Control group in followed order: T3 > T1 > T2.

  • Experiments were performed on mice to investigate the effect of methionine diets (MET) on the immunotoxicity of ethanol. ICR female mice were divided into 5 groups, Met (Basal (B)+0.19% methionine(M), B+1.71% M and B+5.13%W) and ethanol(4%) were administered ad libitum for 21 days. The mice were evaluated for changes in immune status as measured by antibody titer, Arthus reaction, delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), rosette forming cell(RFC) and plaque forming cell (PFC) to sheep red blood cells (S-RBC). To investigate the change of the non-specific immune response, the number of leukocytes in peripheral blood and phagocyte activity were measured. The results were summarized as follows: (1) The weight ratios of spleen and thymus to body weight were significantly increased by the B+0.19% M, B+0.57% M and B+1.71% M groups in comparison with control group(B), but B+5.13% M group was significantly decreased. (2) Humoral immune responses were significantly increased by the B+0.19% M and B+0.57% M groups in comparison with control group, but B+5.13% M group was significantly decreased. (3) Cellular immune responses were significantly decreased by the B+1.71% M and B+5.13% M groups in comparison with control group. (4) Phagocyte activities were significantly increased by the B+0.19% M, B+0.57% M and B+1.71% M groups in comparison with control groups, but B+5.13% M group was significantly decreased. (5) The number of circulating leukocyte was significantly increased in the B+0.19% M and B+0.57% M groups in comparison with control group, but B+5.13% M group was significantly decreased.

  • For given spaces X and Y, let map(X, Y) and map*(X, Y) be the unbased and based mapping spaces from X to Y, equipped with compact-open topology respectively. Then let map(X, Y ; f) and map*(X, Y ; g) be the path component of map(X, Y) containing f and map*(X, Y) containing g, respectively. In this paper, we compute cohomotopy groups of suspended complex plane πn+mnℂP2) for m = 6, 7. Using these results, we classify path components of the spaces map(ΣnℂP2, Sm) up to homotopy equivalence. We also determine the generalized Gottlieb groups Gn(ℂP2, Sm). Finally, we compute homotopy groups of mapping spaces map(ΣnℂP2, Sm; f) for all generators [f] of [ΣnℂP2, Sm], and Gottlieb groups of mapping components containing constant map map(ΣnℂP2, Sm; *).

  • We investigated the effect of various concentrations of taurine during in vitro fertilization (IVF) on the embryonic development up to the blastocyst stage of bovine oocytes fertilized with three different Japanese Black bulls (Bull A, B and C). In vitro matured oocytes were fertilized with various concentrations of taurine (0, 1, 10, 50 and 100 mM) in the presence of 2.5 or 5.0 mM caffeine plus $25{\mu}g$/ml heparin (CH) for 6 hr or $100{\mu}g$/ml heparin (H) for $24{\pm}2$ h. After IVF, the cleavage rates from the 2 to 16 cell stage determined at 3 days and the development rates up to the blastocyst stage determined at 7-8 days from the onset of IVF were assessed. Although the cleavage rates for the taurine concentration groups were not significantly increased in any of the three bulls in the CH groups, the development rates up to the blastocyst stage of the 50 mM taurine group of Bulls A and B, and of the 1 to 50 mM groups of Bull C were increased (p<0.05) compared to those of the control (0 mM taurine) groups. On the other hand, none of the bulls in the H groups showed any significant increase either in the cleavage rates or blastocyst formation rates in any taurine concentrations groups compared with those of the control groups. These results indicate that the addition of 50 mM taurine to a fertilization medium containing caffeine and heparin may stimulate embryonic development up to the blastocyst stage when fertilized with different bull semen.

  • Bis-GMA is an important component in commercial dental restorative composites, but its hydroxy groups are considered to promote water absorption of the cured composite in a mouth. In this work, multifunctional methacrylates were prepared by blocking the hydroxy groups in bis-GMA with methacryloyl groups. Comparing to bis-GMA, new prepolymers having three methacryloyl groups (BPA-3M) and four methacryloyl groups (BPA-4M) showed much lower viscosities. Photopolymerization conversion of BPA-3M was slightly higher than that of bis-GMA. Water absorption of the photo-cured composite containing BPA-3M was measured for one month and found to be much lower than that of bis-GMA.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of somatotype on the $VO_2max$ and hormone (adrenaline and noradrenaline) during treadmill walking. Forty healthy men participated and were randomized to four groups: Male 1 (M1) group, Male 2 (M2) group, Male 3 (M3) group, and Male 4 (M4) group. M4 group is the largest body type, and M1 group is the smaller the body type. Participants walked at a speed of 3.5 km/h for five minutes at an incline angle of $0^{\circ}$, $5^{\circ}$, and $10^{\circ}$ in the treadmill. Maximum oxygen consumption and hormone (adrenaline and noradrenaline) were measured. In the results, $VO_2max$ has significantly increased according to the degree of the treadmill inclination, and M4 group (larger body type) consumed more oxygen than the M1 group (smaller body type). In the hormone, there was a significant increase in adrenaline concentration after walking in all groups, and there was a significant difference in M1-M4, M2-M4 and M3-M4. The noradrenaline concentration significantly increased after treadmill gait in all groups, and there was no significant difference in noradrenaline between groups. This study suggests that the larger body type consumes more oxygen during walking, and treadmill walking contributes to an increase in the concentration of adrenaline and noradrenaline.
