THE BRAIDINGS IN THE MAPPING CLASS GROUPS OF SURFACES

  • The disjoint union of mapping class groups of surfaces forms a braided monoidal category $\mathcal{M}$, as the disjoint union of the braid groups $\mathcal{B}$ does. We give a concrete and geometric meaning of the braidings ${\beta}_{r,s}$ in $\mathcal{M}$. Moreover, we find a set of elements in the mapping class groups which correspond to the standard generators of the braid groups. Using this, we can define an obvious map ${\phi}\;:\;B_g{\rightarrow}{\Gamma}_{g,1}$. We show that this map ${\phi}$ is injective and nongeometric in the sense of Wajnryb. Since this map extends to a braided monoidal functor ${\Phi}\;:\;\mathcal{B}{\rightarrow}\mathcal{M}$, the integral homology homomorphism induced by ${\phi}$ is trivial in the stable range.

  • In this paper, an active magnetic bearing-based motor-generator(M-G) system is designed and controlled using a digital PID control concept. The plant dynamics consisting of actuator and rigid rotor dynamics are described. And some experiments are conducted with each global control and local control concept. From the whirl test, the M-G set can be controlled within about ${\pm}10{\mu}m$ gap variation at the rotational speed of 6000rpm.

G+C 함량이 높은 Primer를 사용하는 중합효소 연쇄반응에서 변성제가 미치는 영향 (Effects of Denaturants on the Conditions of Polymerase Chain Reactions with G+C-rich Primers)

  • G+C 함량이 높은 primer를 이용한 중합효소 연쇄반응을 실시하는 경우 높은 annealing 온도로 인하여 특이 염기서열의 합성정도가 매우 미약하게 나타나는 경우가 많이 있다. 이와 같은 문제점을 보완하기 위하여 glycerol, formamide 및 dimethyl sulfloxide (DMSO) 등의 변성제를 반응용완충액에 첨가하고 중합효소 연쇄반응을 실시하여 그 결과를 비교 검토하였다. G+C 함량이 낮은 Borrelia burgdorferi의 Lyl 유전자의 primer set인 Bb 679와 Bb 680를 이용한 중합효소 연쇄반응에서는 변성체 첨가에 따른 합성 DNA의 양의 변화가 뚜렷하지 않았다. 그러나 G+C 함량이 높은 primer set인 Mycobacterium paratuberculosis의 IS900 유전자의 IS900/150C와 IS900/921를 이용한 중합효소 연쇄반응을 유도한 경우에는 변성제를 첨가함에 따라 합성된 DNA의 양의 증가가 뚜렷하였으며, 2.5% glycerol과 1.25% formamide를 혼합 첨가한 경우와 또는 2.5% DMSO를 반응용 완충액에 첨가하였을 때 비특이적인 증폭비율이 낮아 특이 염기서열의 합성 결과가 양호한 것으로 나타났다.

In this paper, we investigate the pair mean cordial labeling of graphs which are obtained from path and cycle.

가시오가피 추출물이 마크로파지 활성과 우유의 발효 중 젖산균 성장에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Acanthopanax senticosus Extract on Macrophage Activity and the Growth of Lactic Starter Culture during Fermentation)

  • 가시오가피의 마크로파지 활성 효과를 평가하고, 발효유에 첨가할 경우 젖산균 성장에 미치는 영향에 대하여 실시하였다. 가시오가피 추출물 농도가 증가할수록 마크로파지 활성은 증가하였고, 특히 $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$ 첨가하였을 때 유의성 있게 증가하였다. 열수추출물은 70% 알콜추출물보다 NO 분비능이 더 높은 반면, $IL-1{\alpha}$$TNF-{\alpha}$는 알콜추출물이 더 높은 활성을 보였다. 가시오가피 열수추출물이 젖산균에 미치는 영향을 조사한 결과, 가시오가피 첨가량이 증가할수록 젖산균 성장이 억제되었고, pH는 완만히 감소됨에 따라 발효유에 가시오가피열수추출물을 첨가할 경우 Set type보다는 Stirred type 이나 Drink type으로 해야 발효유 제조에 적합할 것으로 보인다.

HARMONIC KAHLER FORMS ON HYPERKAHLER MANIFOLDS

  • Let M be a hyperkahler manifold with the hyperkahler structure (g, I, J, K). In [5], D. Huybrechts suggests that it is an open and interesting question whether any Kahler class that stays Kahler in the twister family can actually be represented by an harmonic Kahler form. In this paper we will consider both this problem and the set of all the primitive harmonic Kahler forms on M.

Nd:YAG 레이저빔을 이용한 SCP 강판과 STS304강판 용접시 오프셋(off-set) 위치 결정에 관한 연구 (A study of the determination of off-set position for Nd:YAC laser welding between SCP steel sheet and STS304 sheet)

  • This work was attempted to join SCP sheet and STS304 sheet by using Nd:YAC laser beam. SCP sheet has good formability and low cost, while STS304 has excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties in high temp. In this experiment, butt joint type was used to develop the tailored blank welding for dissimilar steel. Sheets which have different thermal properties. Computer simulation was conducted to obtain the off-set position for efficient welding by considering laser power, scanning speed, focal length and basic properties. The result showed that the optimum thermal distribution was obtained when the laser beam was irradiated at $0.05{\sim}0.1$ mm off-set toward the SCP sheet side. The experiment was conducted based on the result of computer simulation to show the same optimum conditions. Optimum conditions were 3KW in laser beam power, 6m/min in scanning speed, -0.5mm in focal position, 0.1mm off-set toward SCP. Microhardness test, tensile test, bulge test, optical microscopy, EDS, and XRD were performed to observe the microstructure around fusion zone and to evaluate the mechanical properties of optimum conditions, The weld zone had high microhardness values by the formation of the martensitic structure. Tensile test measured the strength of welded region by vertical to strain direction and the elongation of welded region by parallel to strain direction. Bulge test showed $52\%$ formability of the original materials. Bead shape, grain size, and martensitic structure were observed by the optical microscopy in the weld zone. Detailed results of EDS, XRD confirmed that the welded region was connected of martensitic structure.

강릉시 연안 문어어업에 관한 연구- I - 통발어업 - (Octopus fisheries in the coastal waters of Gangneung - I - Pot fishery -)

  • In order to study the catch situation of the octopus pot fishery in the coastal waters of Gangneung, catch quantities and weight per month and depth, the soaking time & loss of fishing gear were studied based on 62 fishing times (1 set consisted of 150 pots which is equivalent to 1 fishing time) over a period of 10 months from February to December 2003 using commercial fishing vessels and training ships. The monthly CPUE was generally high in the months of june - September, and during this period July showed the highest quantity (134g/pot, 19.21kg/haul). In consideration of the fact that octopus below the weight of 2kg is protected in foreign countries, the majority of the catch was small with 76% (486 octopuses) below 1kg. The octopus catch quantity was high in depth of more than 40m, and the average catch number per set of pots in depths of over 50m was the highest with 13 octopuses. CPUE(g/pot) was the highest at a depth of over 60m recording 101. In terms of catch quantity per soaking time (4-18 days) the highest was on the 7th day, and 13-18 days also recorded high catches, and this suggests the possibility of ghost - fishing with the loss of fishing gear. Loss of fishing gear was the highest in terms of loss frequency and amount at depths of 20-30m. Consequently, it seems that octopus pot fishing at depths of more than 30m would relieve friction with other types of fishing and increase fishing efficiency.
