Let (M, p) denote a noncompact manifold M together with arbitrary basepoint p. In [7], Kondo-Tanaka show that (M, p) can be compared with a rotationally symmetric plane M_m in such a way that if M_m satisfies certain conditions, then M is proved to be topologically finite. We substitute Kondo-Tanaka's condition of finite total curvature of M_m with a weaker condition and show that the same conclusion can be drawn. We also use our results to show that when M_m satisfies certain conditions, then M is homeomorphic to ℝⁿ.

We fabricated the high speed 1.55${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ distributed feedback laser diodes (DFB-LD) using both two-step mesa etching process and semi-insulating InP current blocking layers. The devices characteristics were threshold current of ~15mA, slope efficiency of ~0.13mW/mA, and dynamic resistance of ~6.0Ω, with as-cleaved facets. The fabricated DFB-LD showed the single longitudinal mode with more than 40dB up to 6 $I_{th}$(CW condition), emitting at the wavelength of 0.546${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The -3dB bandwidth was >10㎓ at the driving current of 27mA, and the maximum -3dB bandwidth was ~18㎓ at 90 mA current, showing the superior frequency response of SI-PBH DFB-LD. In the 10Gb/s transmission experiment for 1.55${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ DFB-LD module, maximum 10 km of single mode fiber(SMF) or 80 km of dispersion shifted fiber (DSF) could be transmitted with error free.

Since 1993, M&A activities have been frequent in Liner shipping market. This study examines the effect of M&A on stock price reaction for acquiring firms listed on the market. The study covers the period from 1993 to 2009 and uses 61 daily closing prices of the acquiring firms before and after the M&A announcement day and is analyzed through the market-adjusted model in an event study. After calculating short-term performance using abnormal returns(AR) and cumulative average abnormal returns(CAR) before and after 30 days from the day of event, the results on the test show that the firm's values slightly increased through the M&A, but it does not attest to the statistical significance. In addition, this study investigates the AR difference between estimating windows and post-event windows for the 3 cases of each period before and after 30 days, 15 days, and 7 days from the event day to analyse the impact of M&A on the addition of acquiring firm's value. Our findings suggest that the M&A between Liner shipping companies is targeted for the long-term business strategy instead of the instant rise in the value of the firm involved.

In this paper, for a positive integer M and a prime p such that $M|p^n-1$, families of M-ary sequences using the M-ary Sidel'nikov sequences with period $p^n-1$ are constructed. The family has its maximum magnitude of correlation values upper bounded by $3\sqrt{p^{n}}+6$ and the family size is $(M-1)^2(2^{n-1}-1)$+M-1 for p=2 or $(M-1)^2(p^n-3)/2+M(M-1)/2$ for an odd prime p.

This paper presents the transient-response improved LDO regulator based on parallel error amplifiers. The proposed LDO regulator consists of an error amplifier (E/A1) which has a high gain and narrow bandwidth and a second amplifier (E/A2) which has low gain and wide bandwidth. These amplifiers are in parallel structure. Also, to improve the transient-response properties and slew-rate, some circuit block is added. Using pole-splitting technique, an external capacitor is reduced in a small on-chip size which is suitable for mobile devices. The proposed LDO has been designed and simulated using a Megna/Hynix $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS parameters. Chip layout size is $500{\mu}m{\times}150{\mu}m$. Simulation results show 2.5 V output voltage and 100 mA load current in an input condition of 2.7 V ~ 3.3 V. Regulation Characteristic presents voltage variation of 26.1 mV and settling time of 510 ns from 100mA to 0 mA. Also, the proposed circuit has been shown voltage variation of 42.8 mV and settling time of 408 ns from 0 mA to 100 mA.

This study was carried out to investigate the antioxidative capacity of Ampelopsis brevipedunculata 95% ethanol extracts. The concentration of A. brevipedunculata extract at which DPPH radical scavenging activity was inhibited by 50% was 0.42 mg/mL as compared to 100% by pyrogallol as a reference. Total antioxidant status was examined by total antioxidant capacity against ABTS radical reactions. Total antioxidant capacities of A. brevipedunculata extract at the concentrations of 0.1 and 1 mg/mL were 0.65 and 3.71 mM Trolox equivalents, respectively. Oxygen radical absorbance capacities of A. brevipedunculata extract at the concentrations of 5 and $100\;{\mu}g/mL$ were 22.75 and $131.25\;{\mu}M$ gallic acid equivalents, respectively. Superoxide scavenging activities of A. brevipedunculata extract at the concentrations of 0.1 and 1 mg/mL were 27.7 and 56.0%, respectively. Total phenolic contents of A. brevipedunculata extract at the concentrations of 0.5 and 2.0 mg/mL were 0.55 and 2.06 mM gallic acid equivalents, respectively. A. brevipedunculata extract at the concentration of 0.1 mg/mL inhibited 0.2 mM and 0.5 mM tert-butyl hydroperoxide induced cyototoxicity by 36.2 and 23.3%, respectively, in HepG2 cell culture system. Thus strong antioxidant and cytotoxicity-inhibiting effects of A. brevipedunculata extract seem to be due to, at least in part, the prevention from free radicals-induced oxidation as well as high levels in total phenolic contents.

This research explores how different corporate cultures can influence the post-M&A performance of the airlines undergoing strategic M&A in Korea. The sample size of this research is 214 respondents that is strictly limited to the employees of airlines under M&A process, and CFA and SEM were employed for the statistical analysis. This research investigated that corporate cultures including group-oriented, development-oriented, and rationale-oriented will positively influence the post M&A performance of both efficiency and effectiveness through a mediation of collaboration during M&A process. In contrast, relations between grouporiented culture and interaction, interaction and effectiveness were not revealed positive influences. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights into the potential risks that can impede successful M&A within the M&A process, specially focusing on the conflicts between organizations stemming from different organizational cultures, which can have an adverse impact on M&A performance.

We here investigate an existence and uniqueness of the nontrivial, nonnegative solution of a nonlinear ordinary differential equation: $$[\mid(w^m)]'\mid^{p-2}(w^m)']'\;+\;{\beta}rw'\;+\;{\alpha}w\;+\;(w^q)'\;=\;0$$ satisfying a specific decay rate: $lim_{r\rightarrow\infty}\;r^{\alpha/\beta}w(r)$ = 0 with $\alpha$ := (p - 1)/[pd-(m+1)(p-1)] and $\beta$:= [q-m(p-1)]/[pd-(m+1)(p-1)]. Here m(p-1) > 1 and m(p - 1) < q < (m+1)(p-1). Such a solution arises naturally when we study a very singular solution for a doubly degenerate equation with nonlinear convection: $$u_t\;=\;[\mid(u^m)_x\mid^{p-2}(u^m)_x]_x\;+\;(u^q)x$$ defined on the half line.

The effect of nicotine on the secretion of $[Met^{5}]-enkephalin$ (ME) in addition to proenkephalin A (proENK) mRNA levels and effects of indomethacin, nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), and captopril on nicotine-induced responses were studied in bovine adrenal medullary chromaffrin (BAMC) cells. Long-term exposure of BAMC cells to nicotine at a concentration of $10{\mu}M$ significantly increased proENK mRNA level and the secretion of ME into the medium. Treatment of BAMC cells with NDGA (a lipoxygenase inhibitor, $10{\mu}M$), indomethacin (a cycloooxygenase inhibitor) or captopril (an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor) alone did not affect ME secretion and proENK mRNA levels. The pretreatment of BAMC cells with NDGA inhibited the increased ME secretion and proENK mRNA level induced by nicotine. However, indomethacin and captopril did not affect nicotine-induced responses. Our results indicate that neuronal regulations of ME secretion and proENK mRNA level induced by nicotine in BAMC cells are in part mediated by a lipoxygenase-but not cyclooxygenase-and endogenous renin-angiotensin pathway.

Recently, the national carrier of the next-generation growth engine of M2M (machine to Machine) is attracting attention. Therefore, its uses and utilization of the various disciplines is getting wider, and the increasing number of terminals to be used compared to the existing communication of the information that is sent in every object may have increased. Each data transfer from the bulk terminal to a mobile network, if the traffic situation reaches this limit does not facilitate the processing of M2M communication services, this situation can occur. This study measures the mobile networks will be used in M2M communications when it reaches the breaking point for the smooth processing of M2M services are presented. Things grows increasingly smaller the further development of M2M technology, the explosion in mobile communication network, the data traffic will reach the limitations of these methods will be used in determining the ranking of the M2M communication services should be treated as a priority, to beM2M services to mobile networks will help to facilitate.
