  • In this paper, a practical controller for a group of USVs is proposed in order to avoid matrix inversion problems in computation. Using nonlinear mapping, a formation composed of nonholonomic agents can be stabilized even when the formation is stationary. Since there is no matrix inversion in computing the control law, the computation complexity can be resolved. A controller for stabilizing the formation errors in the presence of model uncertainty is considered using the Lyapunov redesign method. The asymptotic stability of the formation errors is shown. It is also shown that the proposed controller can be applied to guide a formation to a different shape without modification.

  • In this paper, an alternate method for state-covariance assignment for SISO(single input single output) linear systems is proposed. This method is based on the inverse solution of the Lyapunov matrix equation and the resulting formulas are similar in structure to the formulas for pole placement. Further, the set of all assignable covariance matrices to a SISO linear system is also characterized.

  • Most of the theorems of nonlinear stability is based on the Lyapunov stability theory. The Lyapunov function method is most well-known and provides precise and rigorous theoretical backgrounds. However, the conventional approach to direct stability analysis has been performed without taking account of damping effects. For accurate stability analysis of nonlinear systems, the damping effects should be considered. This paper presents a new method to derive a group of Lyapunov functions to reflect the damping effects by considering the integral relationships of the system governing equations.

  • This paper presents sliding mode control(SMC) method using target variation rate of Lypunov Function. SMC keeps the response of structure in sliding surface where structure is stable. It can design both linear controller and bang-bang controller. Linear control of previous research, however, can not make most of the performance of controller, because it is designed to satisfy the condition that the variation rate of Lyapunov function is minus. Also, incase of bang-bang controller, unnecessary large control force is generated. Presented method can utilize the capacity of controller efficiently by prescribing the target variation rate of Lyapunov function. Numerical simulation results indicate that the presented control methods can reduce the peak response larger than linear control, and it has control performance equivalent to bang-bang control.

  • A new method to solve a Lyapunov equation for a discrete delay system is proposed. Using this method, a Lyapunov equation can be solved from a simple linear equation and N-th power of a constant matrix, where N is the state delay. Combining a Lyapunov equation and frequency domain stability, a new stability condition is proposed for a discrete state delay system whose state delay is not exactly known but only known to lie in a certain interval.

  • The aim of this paper is the study of instability state of boiling water reactors with a method based in largest Lyapunov exponents (LLEs). Detecting the presence of chaos in a dynamical system is an important problem that is solved by measuring the LLE. Lyapunov exponents quantify the exponential divergence of initially close state-space trajectories and estimate the amount of chaos in a system. This method was applied to a set of signals from several nuclear power plant (NPP) reactors under commercial operating conditions that experienced instabilities events, apparently each of a different nature. Laguna Verde and Forsmark NPPs with in-phase instabilities, and Cofrentes NPP with out-of-phases instability. This study presents the results of intrinsic instability in the boiling water reactors of three NPPs. In the analyzed cases the limit cycle was not reached, which implies that the point of equilibrium exerts influence and attraction on system evolution.

  • The purpose of this paper is the derivation and development of the new definitions and methods for the new estimation of robustness for the systems having structured uncertainties. This proposition adopts the theoretical analysis of the Lyapunov direct methods, that is, the sign properties of the Lyapunov function derivative integrated along finite intervals of time, in place of the original method of the sign properties of the time derivative of the Lyapunov function itself. This is the new sufficient criteria to relax the stability condition and is used to generate techniques for the robust design of control systems with structured perturbations. The systems considered are assumed to be nominally linear, with time-variant, nonlinear bounded perturbations. This new techniques demonstrate the improvement of robustness bounds from the numerical results.

  • This study proposes that analysis and evaluation method of time series ultrasonic signal using the chaotic feature extrac-tion for degradation extent. Features extracted from time series data using the chaotic time series signal analyze quantitatively material degradation extent. For this purpose analysis objective in this study if fractal dimension lyapunov exponent and strange attractor on hyperspace. The lyapunov exponent is a measure of the rate at which nearby trajectories in phase space diverge. Chaotic trajectories have at least one positive lyapunov exponent. The fractal dimension appears as a metric space such as the phase space trajectory of a dynamical syste, In experiment fractal(correlation) dimensions and lyapunov experiments showed values of mean 3.837-4.211 and 0.054-0.078 in case of degradation material The proposed chaotic feature extraction in this study can enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from degrada-tion signals.

  • This paper provides an overview of the basics and recent studies of Lyapunov-based nonlinear adaptive control, the aim of which is to improve or maintain the performance and stability of the closed-loop system by cancelling out the presumable uncertainties in the nonlinear system dynamics. The design principles are essentially based on Lyapunov's direct method. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive overview of Lyapunov-based nonlinear adaptive control techniques with simplified effective design examples, which are to be elaborated as related recent results are gradually shown. The scope of the survey contains research on singularity problems in adaptive control, the techniques to deal with linearly and nonlinearly parameterized uncertainties, robust neuro-adaptive control, and adaptive control methodologies combined with various nonlinear control techniques such as sliding-mode control, back-stepping, dynamic surface control, and optimal/$H_{\infty}$ control.
