It is described that the proton beam induces micro-size defects and electronic deep levels in luminescence Thin Film. Coincidence Doppler Broadening Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy (CDBPAS) and Positron lifetime Spectroscopy were applied to study of characteristics of a poly crystal samples. In this investigation the numerical analysis of the Doppler spectra was employed to the determination of the shape parameter, S-parameter value. The samples were exposed by 3.0 MeV proton beams with the intensities ranging between 0 to ${\sim}10^{14}$ particles. The S-parameter values decreased as increased the proton beam, that indicates the protons trapped in vacancies. Lifetime ${\tau}_1$ shows that positrons are trapped in mono vacancies. Lifetime ${\tau}_2$ is not changed according to proton irradiation that indicate the cluster vacancies of the grain structure.

Perdeuterated hexaflouroacetylacetonato-ytterbium [Yb(HFA-D)$_3$]complexes were synthesized by the keto-enol tautomerism reaction of Yb(HFA-H$_3$) in methanol-d$_4$in rder to reduct the radiationless transition to the ligands. The luminescence properties of Yb(HFA-D)$_3$complex were measured in the following anhydrous deuterated organic solvents ; Methanol-d$_4$, THF-d$_{8}$, PO(O$CH_3$)$_3$and DMSO-d$_{6}$. The intensity, lifetime and quantum efficiency of the luminescnce in DMSO-d$_{6}$ were superior to those in other deuterated solvents. It was suggested that the anhydrous DMSO-d$_{6}$ might be the most appropriate solvent for the liquid laser material of Yb(HFA-D)$_3$complex.complex.
Picosecond time-correlated single photon counting system and time-resolved luminescence spectrometer were constructed, employing a mode-locked picosecond laser, fast electronics, and microchannel plate tube. It has been shown that the instrument response function critically depends on laser pulse shape, timing jitter and walk of the electronics, and characteristics of detector and amplifier. Correcting time dispersion in the optical system, the best instrument response function obtained appears to be 25 ps, which made it possible to measure the luminescence lifetime with less than 10 ps resolution in the picosecond to microsecond range. range.
Luminescence properties of anthracene chromophores were investigated. Anthracene chromophores were incorporated in cyclosiloxane-based hybrid polymers through one-pot hydrosilylation reaction. Using four-armed cyclosiloxanes, divinylterminated siloxane monomers, and 9-vinylanthracenes, anthracene-labeled hybrid polymers were prepared. Free-standing hybrid polymer films were prepared successfully by doctor-blade method and thermal treatment. The polymer films exhibit strong blue fluorescence from anthracene and its fluorescence lifetime was not influenced by the temperature, indicating that the movement of anthracene chromophores was restrained in cyclosiloxane-based hybrid polymer films.
The addition of organic ligand (${\beta}$-diketone or heterocyclic compound) to the europium (III)-containing ionic liquid resulted in bright luminescent soft materials with the molar ratio of europium/ionic liquid (IL)/ligand being 1:3:1 that exhibit bright red light under UV lamp. The luminescent properties such as emission features and lifetime of $^5D_0$$Eu^{3+}$ excited level are dependent on the organic ligands. The materials were characterized by FT-IR and luminescence spectroscopy. The data shows that at least parts of the ILs (carboxylic acid) are replaced with ${\beta}$-diketone ligand rather than the formation of europium complex with the molar ratio of $Eu^{3+}$:IL: ligand being 1:3:1, while no ILs could be replaced by the heterocyclic ligand such as Bpy and Phen.
The recent development of InGaN-based white light emitting diodes (LEDs) has expanded their potential applications in areas such as white electric home appliances, backlight for mobile phone or notebook PC, and indoor lightings. In this lecture, recent researches related to the phosphors for LEDs applications and their luminescent properties were reviewed. PDPs are considered as the most potential flat panel displays with a large-screen size. Phosphors in PDPs directly affect the brightness and lifetime. So, many researchers have tried to improve the luminescence characteristics of the phosphors especially under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation. We overviewed recent research trends and conclusive achievements for the PDP phosphors.

We have successfully synthesized $AgInS_2$ core and $AgInS_2$/ZnS core/shell nanoparticles by the sonochemical method. The ultrasonic based $AgInS_2$ and $AgInS_2$/ZnS nanoparticle synthesis can be utilized as a simple and rapid method. The $AgInS_2$/ZnS nanoparticles show the higher fluorescence intensity and quantum yield than $AgInS_2$ nanoparticles. Fluorescence wavelength of $AgInS_2$/ZnS shows blue shift from 635 nm to 610 nm against $AgInS_2$ because of reducing the defect sites and increasing spatial confinements. For the fluorescence lifetime, $AgInS_2$/ZnS (124.8 ns) has longer lifetime than $AgInS_2$ (54.8 ns).

The interaction of U(VI) (hexavalent uranium) species with natural organic matter (NOM) in KURT (KAERI Underground Research Tunnel) groundwater is investigated using a laser spectroscopic technique. The luminescence spectra of the NOM are observed in the ultraviolet and blue wavelength regions by irradiating a laser beam at 266 nm in groundwater. The luminescence spectra of U(VI) species in groundwater containing uranium concentrations of $0.034-0.788mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ are measured in the green-colored wavelength region. The luminescence characteristics (peak wavelengths and lifetime) of U(VI) in the groundwater agree well with those of $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$ in a standard solution prepared in a laboratory. The luminescence intensities of U(VI) in the groundwater are weaker than those of $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$ in the standard solution at the same uranium concentrations. The luminescence intensities of $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$ in the standard solution mixed with the groundwater are also weaker than those of $Ca_2UO_2(CO_3)_3(aq)$ in the standard solution at the same uranium concentrations. These results can be ascribed to calcium-U(VI)-carbonate species interacting with NOM and forming non-radiative U(VI) complexes in groundwater.
Cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanorods were prepared by a single precursor thermal decomposition (SPTD) method. The formation of CdS nanorods and their structure, morphology and elemental composition were studied by means of FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, HR-TEM and EDAX analysis. Photoluminescence (PL) and lifetime measurements were recorded to study the luminescence properties of the material. The PL spectrum of the CdS nanorods showed one broad peak and four shoulders and the cause for this emission was discussed. The PL emissions from the band edge and deep trap state of the CdS nanorods were studied by lifetime measurements. Further, the synthesized CdS nanorods showed an increase in efficiency of photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB). The increase in the photocatalytic activity was attributed to the mixed phase of the CdS nanorods.

[ $Y_2O_3:Eu$ ] powder was synthesized using a solution-combustion method by dissolving $(CH_3CO_2)_3Y$ and $(CH_3CO_2)_3$ Eu in methyl-alcohol solution. Results from X-ray diffractometery (XRD), thermogravimetry (TG)-differential thermal analysis (DTA) show that $Y_2O_3:Eu$ crystallizes completely when the dry powder is sintered at $500^{\circ}C$. The investigated optical properties were the photoluminescence emission spectra, the excitation spectra and luminescence decay curve. Europium (Eu) concentration had no observable effect on the optical spectrum which depended on the emission intensity. The mean lifetime of synthesized phosphors was $2.3\~2.6 ms$.
