This study deals with characteristics and risk of a PM based on user survey result, road driving test and data analysis of PM accident. Text mining method is applied to extract PM accident data from Big Data, which are claim data of private insurance company. Road driving test and survey on safety, convenience, noise, overtake ability, steering ability, and climbing ability of PM are performed to evaluate user's safety and convenience considering domestic road condition. As the result of claim data analysis, annual average increase rate of PM accident is 47.4% and average compensation of personal mobility is higher than that of bicycle by maximum 1.5 times. 79.8% of PM accident is self-caused accident due to unskilled driving and age-specific diagnosis rate of driver over 60 is higher than that of under 60. Diagnosis rate of over 60 at lower limb, foot, rib and spine is especially higher than that of under 60. As the result of road driving test and user survey, satisfaction level on safety and convenience of PM is evaluated as close to that of bicycle and satisfaction level of PM is increased after boarding. Overtake ability, steering ability, and climbing ability of PM are evaluated as same or better than that of bicycle but warning equipment to pedestrian or bike such as horn is required because noise level of PM during driving is too low. Finally, user survey result shows that bicycle road is suitable for PM and safety standard, advance-education and insurance are required for PM. It is suggested that drivers' license for PM can be replaced by advance-education. Results of this study can be used to prepare safety measures and legal basis for PM operation.

The purpose of this study was to obtain data to support applied motions of bench press and to provide basic data for the efficient execution of the exercise by analyzing muscular activation through measuring electromyogram of pectoralis major and erector spinae when flat bench pressing with feet on the ground versus feet on the bench. For this study, 4 amateur bodybuilders and 2 health trainers were chosen as subjects. Surface electrodes were attached on the measuring muscles; pectoralis major and erector spinae. Motion phases were defined for the flat bench press and each subject, with a 10RM load, performed a set with feet on the ground and another set with feet on the bench. Data was analyzed in SPSS 20.0 and the following results were obtained. The placement of the feet did not affect the muscular activation of the pectoralis major during the flat bench press. however, the muscular activation of the erector spinae was different between the two positions.
After emerging of Microsoft Kinect, the interest in three-dimensional (3D) depth image was significantly increased. Depth image data of an object can be converted to 3D coordinates by simple arithmetic calculation and then can be reconstructed as a 3D model on computer. However, because the surface coordinates can be acquired only from the front area facing Kinect, total solid which has a closed surface cannot be reconstructed. In this paper, 3D registration method for multiple Kinects was suggested, in which surface information from each Kinect was simultaneously collected and registered in real time to build 3D total solid. To unify relative coordinate system used by each Kinect, 3D perspective transform was adopted. Also, to detect control points which are necessary to generate transformation matrix, 3D randomized Hough transform was used. Once transform matrices were generated, real time 3D reconstruction of various objects was possible. To verify the usefulness of suggested method, human arms were 3D reconstructed and the volumes of them were measured by using four Kinects. This volume measuring system was developed to monitor the level of lymphedema of patients after cancer treatment and the measurement difference with medical CT was lower than 5%, expected CT reconstruction error.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between physical characteristics and walking ability in the elderly population. Subjects were 77 elderly (38 men and 39 women) who are capable of walking independently with and without walking aids. Correlation and stepwise multiple linear regression analyses were used to analyze the relationship between physical characteristics (age, gender, height, weight, body mass index, muscle mass, waist/hip ratio, heart rate, vital capacity, flexibility, maximum oxygen consumption, one-leg standing time, and strength of knee flexor and extensor) and walking velocity of subjects. Age, height, vital capacity, one-leg standing time, and strength of knee flexor and extensor showed significant correlations with walking velocity of subjects (p<.05). Further, the strength of knee flexor explained 27% of the variance, and up to 32% of the walking velocity could be explained when the strength of knee extensor were added to the model. The findings suggest that walking velocity of elderly depends on the strength of lower limb's strength and a variety of physical characteristics.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyse and comparison the differences of kinematic variables for Fente skill in Fencing. Method: For this, 15 people were selected as 5 beginners with less than 2 years of experience, 5 intermediate-class people with more than 2 years and less than 4 years, and 5 experts-class people with more than 4 years. Through the comparison of Marche Fente motion according to proficiency, for the necessary time, travel distance, the kinematical factor of joint angle, oneway ANOVA was performed in order to identify differences according to variables by phase. Results: The time required for each phase was shown to be shorter for all phases experts than for beginners and intermediates. At the horizontal displacement of the foot, the right foot left out the last phase and the experts appeared long. The left foot showed short beginners in all phases. The angle of forward lean showed that the angle of forward lean was tilted forward by the experts of all phases. There was a difference between the left and right joint angles of the lower limb, both of the ankle, knee and hip joints. Conclusion: In overall, Beginners should quickly widen the distance of their feet when they make a Fente movement. The beginner shall tilt the upper body forward in order to increase the angle of forward lean. The beginner shall, in the last phase, have a smaller angle on the hip joint.
Background: The aim of this study was to assess the change in radiating leg pain after traffic accidents in patients with and without herniated intervertebral disc (HIVD) and improvement of radiating leg pain after traffic accidents. Methods: This was an retrospective study of 188 patients. Patients who had been admitted to the Hospital of Korean Medicine with the complaint of radiating leg pain after traffic accidents, and who had undergone lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging to determine the presence or absence of HIVD were observed from April to June 2016. We analyzed sex, age, length of admission, direction (to a single leg or to both legs) and locations, (medial, anterior, lateral or posterior side of the lower limb) of radiating leg pain, presence or absence of HIVD, and number, grade and position of HIVD. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were used to evaluate the impact of radiating leg pain on patients. Results: Radiating leg pain NRS score decreased significantly in both the HIVD group (from $6.12{\pm}2.39$ to $4.31{\pm}1.87$, p < 0.001) and the no HIVD group (from $5.76{\pm}1.64$ to $3.85{\pm}1.41$, p < 0.001). ODI score also decreased significantly in both groups (HIVD, from $44.67{\pm}17.38$ to $26.83{\pm}13.18$; no HIVD, from $39.24{\pm}15.58$ to $19.69{\pm}12$.; both p < 0.001). Conclusion: There was no significant change in radiating leg pain after traffic accidents in patients with and without HIVD and improvement of radiating leg pain after traffic accidents.
The present study was designed to investigate the effect of home based exercise program on balance recovery of stroke patients. In total, 20 participants were assigned to a control group(n=10) or exercise group(n=10) between September 2013 and December 2013. In addition to existing physiotherapy, the exercise group received home based exercise program consisting of weight transfer, training endurance, mobility, sensory retraining, lower limb exercise for 30 minutes, 2 times a week, for 8 weeks, every time for 30 minutes. Balance ability was assessed by measuring foot pressure(FP), limit of stability(LOS) and velocity sway(VS) by using Biorescue and by using the functional reaching test(FRT). To compare the improvement level of each group's balance ability, examination of independent sample T was done. Significant differences between control group and exercise group in LOS, VS of affect side and FRT were observed. This study showed that home based exercise program application was effective strategy on balance recovery in a post stroke population.

The sleep measurement system is important to detect sleep disturbances as early as possible to be diagnosed and treat the diseases quickly. This paper presents design of system to measure the quality of sleep by using nine accelerometer sensors embedded in the pillow to detect the acceleration of limb movement, e.g. head movements. The participants were asked to sleep using a smart pillow for five days. While sleeping, participants are recorded using a camera on a computer. After awakening, participants were asked to fill out a post-sleep questionnaire. Spearman's correlation was performed to test the correlation of gross body movement per minute rate with post-sleep questionnaire questions. Finally, the seven score of sleep quality were tested with gross body movement per minute rate. The result is the higher gross body movement per minute during sleep represented lower sleep quality.

The dynamic compliance characteristics of a prosthetic foot midgait are very important for natural performance in an amputee's gait and should be in a range that provides natural, stable walking. In this study, finite element analysis (FEA) and classical laminate theory were used to examine the mechanical characteristics of a carbon-epoxy composite laminate prosthetic foot as a function of variation in the lamination composition. From this analysis, an FEM model of a prosthetic keel, made from the composite material, was developed. The lamination composition of the keel was designed for improved stiffness. The prototype product was fabricated using an autoclave. Vertical loading response tests were performed to verify the simulation model. The results of the experiments were similar to those from simulations below the loading level of the gait, suggesting use of the proposed simulation model for prosthetic keel design.
