The aim of this study is to help out-size consumers purchase the ready-made clothes and improve clothing fitness by classifying the lower bodies of abdomen-obese adult males and by setting up some size system according to each size interval of obesity types. The including criteria for subjects in this study was over 25 kg/$m^2$ of the BMI, over 90 cm of waist, and over 0.85 of WHR, and a total of 538 adult males satisfying them were enrolled. Results are as follows; 1st, the higher the age bracket was, the more increase in each age bracket's lower-degree obesity rate there was along with the more decrease in moderate-degree, while the higher the age bracket was, the more increasing tendency toward each age bracket's abdominal obesity there was. 2nd, 3 clusters were categorized by cluster analysis, into abdominal obesity, high-degree-type, trapezoid-type and cylinder-type. And 3rd, as a consequence of size system establishment according to lower-body types, the basic body sizes and reference body sizes were different according to types even in commonly-appeared size names at sections of respective types. The research findings above suggests that it is necessary to figure out the obesity types according to waist and hip sizes representing basic sizes and to design the patterns in consideration of the characteristics of obese body shapes when lower-half body clothes are designed among obesity groups. And it may be used as a basic data to decide the desirable output of production according to respective body types.
This study was undertaken to develop a bed-type cycling system of lower limbs for rehabilitation. This system consists of two modes of cycling: active and passive. Different velocity and loads are provided for improving the muscle function recovery and increasing the muscular strength. To analyze the muscle activity pattern, we measured muscular activity of lower limbs in the rectus femoris (RF), biceps femoris (BF), tibialis anterior (TA), medial gastrocnemius (MG), and soleus (SOL), while cycling in the supine position, and based on the pedaling direction. A total of 18 young and 23 elderly, healthy subjects participated in this study. Muscle activity of MG muscles was significantly different in the two age groups. This study could provide the reference data to develop cycling exercises for lower limbs during rehabilitation of the elderly patients.
We performed an safety evaluation on constructing of a common grounding system for electrical railway in view of its efficacy and technical fit. In order to compare the conventional grounding method, which has been individually conducted, with the common grounding with all ground wires connected in common to the counterpoise buried below the surface of the earth in parallel with rail, we set up scenarios with several cases of fault and load conditions in Chungbuk railway sections with the common grounding system. Based on models for railway conductors including the grounded system, line Parameters of railway power system are computed. The circuit model for power system with up and down lines, auto-transformers and railway substations is used to compute impedances of counterpoise and substation ground net. For each scenario with faults and operation conditions of railway, the induced potentials on signal and communication lines are also computed. It is shown that the common grounding for Chungbuk railway is superior experimentally to the conventional method in three respects: (1) the lower rail potentials during operation of railway in line, (2) the lower rail potentials for short-circuit faults between catenary and rail, and (3) the lower stress voltages on signal and communication lines for short-circuit or ground faults. The analysis results confirm that the grounding system for electric railway is required to be built by the common grounding and be evaluated on its safety in design.
Variations in system parameters due to uncertainties may result in system performance deterioration. Uncertainties in modeling of structures are often considered to ensure that control system is robust with respect to response errors. Hence, the uncertain concept plays an important role in vibration control of the engineering structures. The paper discusses the robustness of the stability of vibration control systems with uncertain parameters. The vibration control problem of an uncertain system is approximated by a deterministic one. The uncertain parameters are described by interval variables. The uncertain state matrix is constructed directly using system physical parameters and avoided to use bounds in Euclidean norm. The feedback gain matrix is determined based on the deterministic systems, and then it is applied to the actual uncertain systems. A method to calculate the upper and lower bounds of eigenvalues of the close-loop system with uncertain parameters is presented. The lower bounds of eigenvalues can be used to estimate the robustness of the stability the controlled system with uncertain parameters. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the applications of the present approach.
Simple camera-based system for evaluation of lower limb alignment as a part of an automated cycling fitting system was developed and verified in this study. Developed imaging system can evaluate lower limb alignment quantitatively during pedaling using a general camcorder and single marker attached on the knee. Threshold-based marker detection algorithm was proposed in this study. Experiment was carried out to compare the trajectory data from marker detection algorithm of the developed imaging system with the trajectory data from 3-D motion capture system. Results showed that average error between trajectories was 2.33 mm (0.92 %) in the vertical direction and 0.62 mm (1.86 %) in the medio-lateral direction. There existed significant correlation between two measured values (r=0.9996 in the vertical direction and r=0.9975 in the medio-lateral direction). It can be concluded that developed imaging system be applied to evaluate lower limb alignment which is an important factor for dynamic bicycle fitting.
Objectives : The 7-zone-diagnostic system is a diagnostic device to predetermine bodily locations by measuring the energy of body. This study was to investigate the relation between the different patterns of Zone 2, 6 of Factor AA in VEGA DFM 722(VEGA, Germany), 7-zone-diagnostic system and clinical parameters. The purpose of this study was relation Korean traditional medicine and western medicine with the data from 7-zone-diagnostic system and the clinical parameters. Methods : This study was carried out with the data from some clinical parameters. We made two groups according to the Factor AA patterns of VEGA DFM 722. The Factor AA pattern of Group A is that the red bar graph of zone 2 was higher than the normal range and the red bar graph of zone 6 was lower than the normal range. The Factor AA pattern of Group B was that the red bar graph of zone 2 was lower than the normal range and the red bar graph of zone 6 was higher than the normal range. After the data from clinical parameters to correspond with conditions of each group were selected, the data from clinical parameters between each gropus analyzed statistically. Results and Conclusions : The values of Direct Bilirubin, GOT, BUN and BUN/Creatinine ratio of Group A were higher than them of Group B. The values of Sodium and Tyroxine of Group A were lower than them of Group B. These results mean that Group A has low energy but has increading tendency. To conclude, it is thought that the red bar graph of zone 2 is higher, the group is the more increasing and the red bar graph of zone 6 is lower, the group has the lower energy.
Objective: To develop an ergonomic evaluation tool which can be apply to assess the lower-limb postures associated with farming tasks. Background: In general, most of existing ergonomic assessment tools was developed to investigate the work-related musculoskeletal disorders of the upper-limb postures in manufacturing industry. Methods: As the first step of development of the evaluation tool, 13 lower-limb postures that were commonly observed in farming task were investigated by the subjective discomfort ratings, heart rates, and muscle activities. And then, an ergonomic evaluation tool for the lower-limb postures was developed based on results of the first experiment. Lastly, the ergonomic checklist which was developed in the current study was compared with other existing ergonomic assessment tools. Results: Based on the results of comparisons between a newly developed assessment tool and other existing assessment tools, it was found that a newly developed tool can perceive more sensitively for the various lower-limb postures than other assessment tools. Conclusions: Lower-limb posture assessment tool which can evaluate and assess risks of lower-limb WMSDs which were prevalent in farming tasks more easily and accurately was developed in this study. The lower-limb assessment tool can also be utilized to prevent WMSDs related with lower-limbs as well as improve working environments.
This paper deals with the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the generalized MHD and Hall-MHD systems. Firstly, the upper bound for the generalized MHD and Hall-MHD systems is investigated in $L^2$ space. Then, the effect of the Hall term is analyzed. Finally, we optimize the upper bound of decay and obtain their algebraic lower bound for the generalized MHD system by using Fourier splitting method.
Nonlinear system of initial value problems involving R-L fractional derivative is studied. Monotone iterative technique coupled with lower and upper solutions is developed for the problem. It is successfully applied to study qualitative properties of solutions of nonlinear system of initial value problem when the function on the right hand side is nondecreasing.
This study was undertaken to develop the feed rate control system for the head feed thresher by making use of the microprocessor and to evaluate the response of the system to a various threshing conditions. The control unit was composed of one-board microcomputer. The speed of the wet-paddy feeding chain was controlled by dc moter with PI controller. It was used the adaptive control method to maintain the constant feed rate regardless of the fed rice varieties. The sliding type potentiometer was used as the feed rate sensor, which was attached on the sheaf-holding apparatus. The mathematical models of the system components were derived and computer simulation was developed for investigating the parameters affecting on control performance and for estimating the response of the system. A one-board microcomputer-based feed rate control system developed in this study was properly functioned and assessed as adequate for the feed rate control system of the head feed thresher. Based on the simulation for the bundle feed, it was anticipated that the lower setting value of the cylinder speed(RL) is to be set higher than the limiting operational speed. In addition, the higher setting value of the cylinder speed(RH) is to be set lower than the limiting cylinder speed for threshing. The computer simulation for the continuous spread feed showed that the lower the setting value of straw layer thickness(LL) was set, the shorter the correction time. However, if too low LL may be established, the feed rate could not reach to its desired rate.
