  • The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of exponential curing method with conventional curing and soft start curing method on polymerization shrinkage of composite resins. Three brands of composite resins (Synergy Duo Shade, Z250, Filtek Supreme) and three brands of light curing units (Spectrum 800, Elipar Highlight, Elipar Trilight) were used. 40 seconds curing time was given. The shrinkage was measured using linometer for 90 seconds. The effect of time on polymerization shrinkage was analysed by one-way ANOVA and the effect of curing modes and materials on polymerization shrinkage at the time of 90s were analysed by two-way ANOVA. The shrinkage ratios at the time of 20s to 90s were taken and analysed the same way. The results were as follows : 1. All the groups except Supreme shrank almost within 20s Supreme cured by soft start and exponential curing had no further shrinkage after 30s (p < 0.05). 2. Statistical analysis revealed that polymerization shrinkage varied among materials (p = 0.000) and curing modes (p = 0.003). There was no significant interaction between material and curing mode. 3. The groups cured by exponential curing showed the statistically lower polymerization shrinkage at 90s than the groups cured by conventional curing and soft start curing (p < 0.05). 4. The initial shrinkage ratios of soft start and exponential curing were statistically lower than conventional curing (p < 0.05). From this study, the use of low initial light intensities may reduce the polymerization rate and, as a result, reduce the stress of polymerization shrinkage.

  • In this study, the effects of ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS) and expansive additive(EA) on early strength mortar were examined for the purpose of reducing carbon and improving cement performance. As a result, ealry strength Portland cement(EPC) tended to decrease in flow compared to ordinary Portland cement(OPC), but binder with EPC and GGBFS was possible to obtain higher liquidity than OPC. EPC showed higher compressive strength and shrinkage than OPC. The compressive strength of specimen with EPC and GGBFS was reduced proportionally to the replacement ratio of GGBFS. The replacement ratio of GGBFS above the compressive strength equivalent to OPC was higher under low temperature conditions. The use of GGBFS resulted in high shrinkage compared to OPC, and this characteristic was even greater under low temperature conditions. The shrinkage of specimen with EA was decreased in early ages, but was higher than the OPC in long-term ages.

  • The aim of this study was to compare the degree of conversion and polymerization shrinkage of low and high viscosity bulk-fill giomer-based and resin-based composites. Two bulk-fill giomer (Beautifil Bulk Restorative (BBR), Beautifil Bulk Flowable (BBF)), two bulk-fill (Tetric N-Ceram Bulk-fill (TBF), SureFil SDR flow (SDR)) and two conventional resin composites (Tetric N-Ceram (TN), Tetric N-flow (TF)) were selected for this study. The degree of conversion was measured by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Polymerization shrinkage was measured with the linometer. For all depth, BBR had the lowest degree of conversion and SDR had the highest. At 4 mm, the degree of conversion of low and high viscosity bulk-fill giomer resin composites was lower than that of bulk-fill resin composites (p < 0.05). At the depth between 2 mm and 4 mm, there were significant difference with TBF, TN and TF (p < 0.05), while no significant difference in the degree of conversion was measured for BBR, BBF and SDR. Polymerization shrinkage of six resin composites decreased in the following order: TF > SDR > BBF > TBF > TN and BBR (p < 0.05). Polymerization shrinkage of bulk-fill giomer resin composites was lower than that of bulk-fill resin composites (p < 0.05). From this study, it is found that the bulk-fill giomer resin composites and TBF were not sufficiently cured in 4 mm depth. The degree of conversion of low and high viscosity bulk-fill giomer resin composites was significantly lower than bulk-fill resin composites in both 2 mm and 4 mm depths. Therefore, such features of bulk-fill giomer resin composites should be carefully considered in clinical application.

  • Effects of metallic Al powder addition on basic and thermal properties of castable refractories were investigated. Generally, low grade prooperties were obtained by metallic Al powder addition with the increase of temperature, comparing with those of non-addition of Al powder. Especially, Al addtion showed severe shrinkage, corrosiion and low strength above 1000$^{\circ}C$. As a result of Al addition, lower strength of and higher corrosion resistance were shown for 2% addition, but it was reversed for above 4% addition. It was found that Al addition was excellent in the explosive spalling test regardless of Al quantity.

  • Sintering and dielectric characteristics of substrates were estimated by mixing rate of alumina and potashborosilicate glass(PBSG) powders. PBSG powders were used 7761(corning code)and alumina powders were used in extra pure rate(99.9%) and had 0.1 ${\mu}$m mean size. After ball milling with organic additives green sheets which were casted by doctor blade machine were sintered at 800$^{\circ}C$ for 1∼3hrs. Microstructure, linear shrinkage and dielectric constant of substrates were surveyed in order to fabricate low-dielectric and low tem-perature sintering substrate.

  • This study investigates the field application, Songdo the # 1st WORLD, on zero-crack construction of the fundamental mass concrete using double bubble sheets and applying low heat mixture. Experimental results of hydration heat analysis showed that crack modulus of concrete incorporating 20% of blast furnace slag cement was 1.0 in 120 hours, representing 50% probability of crack occurrence, thus requiring additional measures. As for a curing method, a specimen insulating two layers of vinyl chloride+double bubble sheets exhibited only $16.5^{\circ}C$ difference between upper and lower sections, and it also showed favorable workability as well as competitive economic side. Therefore it was determined to use it for curing method in this field. For the curing results of practical field, using 2 layers of vinyl chloride+double bubble sheets and applying low heat mixture on the fundamental mass concrete in 3A residential building exhibited less than only $15^{\circ}C$ difference between surface and center section of that in 5 days elapse and less than $20^{\circ}C$ in 9 days. This means that the crack by hydration heat was prevented, and other fields structures also resisted the plastic shrinkage by insulating the vinyl, sinking crack by second temping, even drying shrinkage by the mixture of low unit water. Therefore the crack on the placement has not been found so far, since the construction was started before 6 month.
