The flourite in Hwacheon, Hwanggangri and Keumsan district are major fluorite producing areas in Korea. The fluorite deposits of Hwacheon district are wholly fissure filling hydrothermal veins embedded in Precambrian gneiss and schists and Jurassic granites. Also some fluorite deposits are emplaced in felsite whose age is unknown. Emplacement of most fluorite veins of the district are controlled by EW fracture system. Fluorites are generally accompanied to chalcedonic quartz and also kaolinite, montmorillonite, dickite and calcite in parts. Vertical and lateral mineral zonings are not distinct. The fluorite deposits in the Hwanggangri district are wholly embedded in limestone and other calcareous sediments of Paleozoic Yeongweol Group. Most of the fluorite deposits belong to one of two categories which are steeply. dipping veins and gently dipping replacement deposits adjacent to Late Cretaceous(83-90mys) granite bodies. The strikes of fluorite veins of Hwanggangri district mostly occupy the fractures of $N30^{\circ}-40^{\circ}E$ and $N30^{\circ}-40^{\circ}W$ system. Fluorites are accompanied to calcite, milky quartz, chalcedonic quartz, and also montmorillonite, kaolinite in parts. But in some deposits, scheelite, various sulfide minerals and barite are accompanied. Emplacement of fluorite deposits are largely controlled by lithology and structures of this district. In some deposits fluorite veins gradate to scheelite veins and also telescoping of the mineral zones are found in this district. In the Keumsan district, fissure-filled fluorite veins and replacement deposits are mostly emplaced in limestone of Paleozoic Yeongweol Group, late Cretaceous quartz-porphyry, granite and sandstone. Some deposits are emplaced in Precambrian metasediments. Mineralogy and other characteristics of the deposits in this district is similar to those of Hwanggangri district. Fluid inclusion studies reveal the difference of salinities, $CO_2$ contents of ore fluid and temperatures during fluorite mineral deposition in the these districts. In Hwacheon district, ore-fluids were comparatively dilute brine and low $CO_2$ content. Filling temperatures ranges $104^{\circ}C$ to $170^{\circ}C$. In the Chuncheonshinpo mine, most deeply exploited one in this district, salinitles range 0.5-2. 2wt. % NaCl and filling temperatures range from $116^{\circ}C$ to $143^{\circ}C$. In the Hwanggangri district, ore fluids were complex and filling temperature ranges very widly. In the contact metasomatic fluorite deposits, ore fluid were NaCl rich brines with moderate $CO_2$ content and filling temperatures range from $285^{\circ}C$ to above $360^{\circ}C$. Fluids inclusions in tungsten and sulfide minerals bearing fluorite veins show high $CO_2$ content up to 31wt. %. Filling temperature ranges from $101^{\circ}C$ to $310^{\circ}C$. Fluids inclusions In mainly fluorite bearing veins were more dilute brine and low $CO_2$ contents. Filling temperatures range from $95^{\circ}C$ to $312^{\circ}C$. Filling temperature of fluid inclusions of Keumsan district are between $95^{\circ}C$ and $237^{\circ}C$. Data gathered from geologic, mineralogic and fluid inclusion studies reveal that fluorite mineralization in H wacheon district proceeded at low temperature with dilute brine and low $CO_2$ content. In Hwangganri district, fluorite mineralization proceeded by several pulse of chemically distinct ore fluids and formed the mineralogically different type of deposits around cooling granite pluton which emplaced comparatively shallow depth.

This study investigated the changes of indoor thermal environment by Ardisia species planted in indoor space. Three Ardisia species (Ardisia japonica, Ardisia crenata and Ardisia pusilla) were used in this study and differences of temperature and relative humidity were ascertained in an empty chamber with and without plants. In high temperatures over $24^{\circ}C$, Ardisia species cooled down chamber more as compared to the control without plants, but there were no significant differences among Ardisia species. Ardisia crenata showed high relative humidity of $57.3{\pm}3.1%$ during most of the day time and $60.8{\pm}2.5%$ at low temperatures. However, Ardisia japonica and Ardisia pusilla showed $54.7{\pm}1.18%$ and $52.5{\pm}2.4%$, respectively, on the average, and they maintained comfortable relative humidity during most of the day time. When the setting temperature was decreased from 28 to $26^{\circ}C$, Ardisia species showed 7.5~13.6 times greater cooling efficiency as compared to the control without plants, and at low temperatures the chamber without plants showed higher themal energy than the chamber with plants. Ardisia species were effective on cooling down the temperature at high temperatures and they showed a tendency to maintain proper temperatures at low temperatures.
One of the major drawbacks associated with the high-level expression of the recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli is the formation of insoluble inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm. Production of recombinant protein at reduced temperature has proven effective in improving the solubility of a number of structurally and functionally unrelated proteins, but a major limitation of using low temperatures for recombinant protein production in E. coli is the reduced rate of synthesis of the heterologous protein caused by the significant reduction of cell growth rate. Here we investigated the effect of co-expression of CspA, a cold-shock protein known to be RNA chaperone at low temperature, on the productivity of recombinant protein at various temperatures by using green fluorescence protein (GFP) as a model recombinant protein. We could observe that the co-expression of CspA enhanced the productivity of GFP at $15^{\circ}C$ by accelerating the growth of E. coli at the temperature. On the other hand, the CspA coexpression didn't affect the cell growth rate as well as the specific GFP production rate at other tested temperatures, $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, and $37^{\circ}C$.
Graphene has attracted the interest of many researchers due to various its advantages such as high mobility, high transparency, and strong mechanical strength. However, large-area graphene is grown at high temperatures of about 1,000 ℃ and must be transferred to various substrates for various applications. As a result, transferred graphene shows many defects such as wrinkles/ripples and cracks that happen during the transfer process. In this study, we address transfer-free, large-scale, and high-quality monolayer graphene. Monolayer graphene was grown at low temperatures on Ti (10nm)-buffered Si (001) and PET substrates via plasma-assisted thermal chemical vapor deposition (PATCVD). The graphene area is small at low mTorr range of operating pressure, while 4 × 4 ㎠ scale graphene is grown at high working pressures from 1.5 to 1.8 Torr. Four-inch wafer scale graphene growth is achieved at growth conditions of 1.8 Torr working pressure and 150 ℃ growth temperature. The monolayer graphene that is grown directly on the Ti-buffer layer reveals a transparency of 97.4 % at a wavelength of 550 nm, a carrier mobility of about 7,000 ㎠/V×s, and a sheet resistance of 98 W/□. Transfer-free, large-scale, high-quality monolayer graphene can be applied to flexible and stretchable electronic devices.

Temperature change is one of the major environmental factors that influence the human skin. However, the relationship between temperature and melanogenesis has received little attention. In the present study, we investigated the effects of temperature change on melanogenesis in a mouse melanocyte cell line (Mel-Ab), and primary cultured human melanocytes. We found that Mel-Ab cells cultured at low temperatures (31 and 34$^{\circ}C$) produce less melanin than cells at 37$^{\circ}C$. These results were confirmed by experiments upon human melanocytes, demonstrating that the hypopigmenting effect of low temperatures is not cell type dependent. The observed melanin production was found to be accompanied by tyrosinase activity at each temperature, indicating that tyrosinase activity is regulated by temperature. We further examined whether the incubation period at low temperatures plays an important role in the regulation of melanogenesis. Short exposures to 27$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h or 3 h did not affect tyrosinase activity or melanin synthesis, whereas long exposures to 31$^{\circ}C$ for 2 days or 6 days significantly reduced tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis in a duration-dependent manner. Our results suggest that exposure to low temperature and the duration of this exposure are important regulators of melanogenesis.
We fabricated 10 nm-$TiO_2$ thin films for DSSC (dye sensitized solar cell) electrode application using ALD (atomic layer deposition) method at the low temperatures of $150^{\circ}\;and\;250^{\circ}$. We characterized the crosssectional microstructure, phase, chemical binding energy, and absorption of the $TiO_2$ using TEM, HRXRD, XPS, and UV-VIS-NIR, respectively. TEM analysis showed a 10 nm-thick flat and uniform $TiO_2$ thin film regardless of the deposition temperatures. Through XPS analysis, it was found that the stoichiometric $TiO_2$ phase was formed and confirmed by measuring main characteristic peaks of Ti $2p^1$, Ti $2p^3$, and O 1s indicating the binding energy status. Through UV-VIS-NIR analysis, ALD-$TiO_2$ thin films were found to have a band gap of 3.4 eV resulting in the absorption edges at 360 nm, while the conventional $TiO_2$ films had a band gap of 3.0 eV (rutile)${\sim}$3.2 eV (anatase) with the absorption edges at 380 nm and 410 nm. Our results implied that the newly proposed nano-thick $TiO_2$ film using an ALD process at $150^{\circ}$ had almost the same properties as thsose of film at $250^{\circ}$. Therefore, we confirmed that the ALD-processed $TiO_2$ thin film with nano-thickness formed at low temperatures might be suitable for the electrode process of flexible devices.
This study was conducted to evaluate the dietary supplementation of citrus byproduct (CBP) on the growth performance, feed utilization, and innate immune responses of juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus under low water temperatures (11-15℃). Dietary L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate was replaced with graded CBP levels at 0 (Con), 25 (CBP25), 50 (CBP50), 75 (CBP75), and 100% (CBP100). Triplicate groups of juvenile olive flounder were handfed with one of the diets twice a day for 42 days. The growth performance and feed utilization of fish fed with diet containing levels of CBP75 or CBP100 increased significantly compared to those of fish with fed Con. Dietary CBP supplementation increased the protein efficiency ratio in fish. There was no significant differences in innate immune responses between groups, even though CBP supplementation tended to increase. These findings indicate that CBP could be used as a vitamin C source and improve the growth performance of juvenile olive flounder under low water temperatures.
Ester- and ether-based thermoplastic polyurethanes of different hardness were injection molded at different mold temperatures and effects of mold temperature on the physical properties of TPUs were investigated. Glass transition temperatures of soft segments of TPUs were hardly changed by mold temperatures. The phase separation of soft and hard segments of injection molded TPUs were affected little by mold temperatures. However, crystallinity of hard segments, temperature range of rubbery plateau, and tensile strength of injection molded TPUs decreased with increasing mold temperatures for TPUs of high hardness. However, injection molded TPUs of low hardness showed increases of crystallinity of hard segments, temperature range of rubbery plateau, and tensile strength with increasing mold temperatures. Different physical properties of injection molded TPUs depending on mold temperatures were attributed to different crystallization and physical crosslinking effects of hard segments.
Dynamic rheological properties of honey samples with 3 different moisture contents (17.2, 19.0, and 21.0%) were evaluated at various low temperatures (-15, -10, -5, and $0^{\circ}C$) using a controlled stress rheometer. The honey samples displayed a liquid-like behavior, with loss modulus (G") predominating over storage modulus (G') (G">>G'), showing the high dependence on frequency ($\omega$). The magnitudes of G' and G" decreased with an increase in temperature and water content while a predominant increase of G' was noticed at $-15^{\circ}C$. The time-temperature superposition (TTS) principle was applied to bring G" values for honeys at various temperatures together into a master curve. The G" over the temperature range of -15 to $0^{\circ}C$ obeyed the Arrhenius relationship with a high determination coefficient ($R^2=0.98-0.99$). Activation energy value (Ea=112.4 kJ/mol) of honey with a moisture content of 17.2% was higher than those (Ea=98.8-101.1 kJ/mol) of other honey samples with higher moisture contents.
The morphology and size distribution of chromium oxides and the concentration measurement of atomic arsenic have been studied in laminar diffusion flames. Nitrogen was added to vary flame temperatures in hydrogen flames. Ethene flames were used in order to investigate the potential for interaction between the soot aerosol that is formed in these flames and the chromium aerosol. Two sources of chromium compounds were introduced: chromium nitrate and chromium hexacarbonyl. A detailed investigation of the morphology was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The amounts of Cr(VI) and total Cr were determined by a spectrophotometric method and by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, respectively. Also, LIF was used for the measurement of atomic arsenic, which was excited at 197.2 nm and was detected at 249.6 nm. Results showed that the morphology of the particles varied with the flame temperature and with the chromium source. The particles were characterized by porous structures, cenospheres and agglomerated dense particles when chromium nitrate solution was added to the flames. At low to moderate temperatures, porous sintered cenospheric structures were formed, in some cases with a blow hole. At higher temperatures, an agglomerated cluster which was composed of loosely sintered submicron particles was observed. It was also found that the emission of Cr(VI) from the undiluted $H_2$ flame was more than 10 times larger than in the 50% $H_2$ / 50% $N_2$ flame on a mass basis. Single point LIF measurement of atomic arsenic indicated that arsenic exist only in the low temperature, fuel rich region.
