This paper describes an effective technique for lossless inter-frame video coding sequences based on a JPEG2000 CODEC. This technique has diminished the compression rate for lossless video coding. In this proposed method, firstly a predicted image for an in- put image is generated by motion estimation(ME), and then a difference image between the input image and the predicted image is calculated, and finally the difference image becomes an input image to a JPEG2000 encoder for lossless coding. Simulation results show the effectiveness of this method.

This study addresses a low complexity and lossless frame memory compression algorithm based on block-buffer structure for efficient high resolution video processing. Our study utilizes the block-based MHT (modified Hadamard transform) for spatial decorrelation and AGR (adaptive Golomb-Rice) coding as an entropy encoding stage to achieve lossless image compression with low complexity and efficient hardware implementation. The MHT contains only adders and 1-bit shift operators. As a result of AGR not requiring additional memory space and memory access operations, AGR is effective for low complexity development. Comprehensive experiments and computational complexity analysis demonstrate that the proposed algorithm accomplishes superior compression performance relative to existing methods, and can be applied to hardware devices without image quality degradation as well as negligible modification of the existing codec structure. Moreover, the proposed method does not require the memory access operation, and thus it can reduce costs for hardware implementation and can be useful for processing high resolution video over Full HD.

JPEG200, a new international standard for still image compression based on wavelet and bit-plane coding techniques, is developed. In this paper, we design the DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) and quantizer for JPEG2000 CODEC. DWT handles both lossy and lossless compression using the same transform-based framework: The Daubechies 9/7 and 5/3 transforms, and quantizer is implemented as SQ(Scalar Quantization). The architecture of the proposed DWT and SQ are synthesized and verified using Xilinx FPGA technology. It operates up to 30MHz, and executes algorithms of wavelet transform and quantization for VGA 10 frame per second.

In this paper, the lossless compression method is proposed for an 8-bit bitplane of the input image. The lower bitplanes are not well compressed because of irregularity of pixels. To overcome these drawbacks, this paper propose a mixed coding method that using the block-based lossless compression and the bit-based losselss compression, introducing the H. 264 and the JBIG. First, to take advantage of the characteristics of the bitplanes, 8-bitplane against the top 4 bits and lower 4 bits were separated. Next, the JBIG compression method was used in separated top 4-bitplane because of a lot of correlation between bits. And a separated lower 4-bitplane was applied the improved method that using the H. 264 lossless prediction. A pre-processing method applied to the lower 4-bitplane then irregular distribution of pixel values are converted to regular. Using the proposed method to test for various test images were performed. Experimental results from a printer using 8-bit image compared to JBIG average 19%, lower 4bit image compression performance with an average of 11% could be obtained.

The image compression based on discrete wavelet transform has been widely accepted in industry since it shows no block artifacts and provides a better image quality when compressed to low bits per pixel, compared to the traditional JPEG. The coefficients generated by discrete wavelet transform are quantized to reduce the number of code bits to represent them. After quantization, lossless coding processes are usually applied to make further reduction. This paper presents a new and efficient lossless coding algorithm for quantified wavelet coefficients based on the statistical properties of the coefficients. Combined with discrete wavelet transform and quantization processes, our algorithm has been implemented as an image compression chip, using 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard cells. The experimental results show the efficiency and performance of the resulting chip.

This Paper introduces representation and coding schemes of multiview texture and depth data for complex three-dimensional scenes. We represent input color and depth images using compressed texture and depth map pairs. The proposed X-codec encodes them further to increase compression ratio in a near-lossless way. Our system resolves two problems. First, rendering time and output visual quality depend on input image resolutions rather than scene complexity since a depth image-based rendering techniques is used. Second, the random access problem of conventional image-based rendering could be effectively solved using our image block-based compression schemes. From experimental results, the proposed approach is useful to graphics applications because it provides multiview rendering, selective decoding, and scene manipulation functionalities.
In this paper, a new prediction based embedded compression (EC) codec algorithm for the JPEG2000 encoder system is proposed to reduce excessive memory requirements. The EC technique can reduce the 50 % memory requirement for intermediate low-frequency coefficients during multiple discrete wavelet transform (DWT) stages compared with direct implementation of the DWT engine of this paper. The LOCO-I predictor and MAP are widely used in many lossless picture compression codec. The proposed EC algorithm use these predictor which are very simple but surprisingly effective. The predictive EC scheme adopts a forward adaptive quantization and fixed length coding to encoding the prediction error. Simulation results show that our LOCO-I and MAP based EC codecs present only PSNR degradation of 0.48 and 0.26 dB in average, respectively. The proposed algorithm improves the average PSNR by 1.39 dB compared to the previous work in [9].

This paper presents the design of a JPEG-LS codec for lossless image compression from AR/VR device. The proposed JPEG-LS(: LosSless) codec is mainly composed of a context modeling block, a context update block, a pixel prediction block, a prediction error coding block, a data packetizer block, and a memory block. All operations are organized in a fully pipelined architecture for real time image processing and the LOCO-I compression algorithm using improved 2D approach to compliant with the SBT coding. Compared with a similar study in JPEG-LS, the Block-RAM size of proposed STB-FLC architecture is reduced to 1/3 compact and the parallel design of the predication block could improved the processing speed.
Since the introduction of MP3 players, CD recordings have gradually been vanishing, and the music consuming environment of music users is shifting to mobile devices. The introduction of smart devices has increased the utilization of music through music playback, mass storage, and search functions that are integrated into smartphones and tablets. At the time of initial MP3 player supply, the bitrate of the compressed music contents generally was 128 Kbps. However, as increasing of the demand for high quality music, sound quality of 384 Kbps appeared. Recently, music content of FLAC (Free License Audio Codec) format using lossless compression method is becoming popular. The download service of many music sites in Korea has classified by unlimited download with technical protection and limited download without technical protection. Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology is used as a technical protection measure for unlimited download, but it can only be used with authenticated devices that have DRM installed. Even if music purchased by the user, it cannot be used by other devices. On the contrary, in the case of music that is limited in quantity but not technically protected, there is no way to enforce anyone who distributes it, and in the case of high quality music such as FLAC, the loss is greater. In this paper, the author proposes an audio watermarking technology for copyright protection of high quality stereo music. Two kinds of information, "Copyright" and "Copy_free", are generated by using the turbo code. The two watermarks are composed of 9 bytes (72 bits). If turbo code is applied for error correction, the amount of information to be inserted as 222 bits increases. The 222-bit watermark was expanded to 1024 bits to be robust against additional errors and finally used as a watermark to insert into stereo music. Turbo code is a way to recover raw data if the damaged amount is less than 15% even if part of the code is damaged due to attack of watermarked content. It can be extended to 1024 bits or it can find 222 bits from some damaged contents by increasing the probability, the watermark itself has made it more resistant to attack. The proposed algorithm uses quantization in DCT so that watermark can be detected efficiently and SNR can be improved when stereo music is converted into mono. As a result, on average SNR exceeded 40dB, resulting in sound quality improvements of over 10dB over traditional quantization methods. This is a very significant result because it means relatively 10 times improvement in sound quality. In addition, the sample length required for extracting the watermark can be extracted sufficiently if the length is shorter than 1 second, and the watermark can be completely extracted from music samples of less than one second in all of the MP3 compression having a bit rate of 128 Kbps. The conventional quantization method can extract the watermark with a length of only 1/10 compared to the case where the sampling of the 10-second length largely fails to extract the watermark. In this study, since the length of the watermark embedded into music is 72 bits, it provides sufficient capacity to embed necessary information for music. It is enough bits to identify the music distributed all over the world. 272 can identify $4*10^{21}$, so it can be used as an identifier and it can be used for copyright protection of high quality music service. The proposed algorithm can be used not only for high quality audio but also for development of watermarking algorithm in multimedia such as UHD (Ultra High Definition) TV and high-resolution image. In addition, with the development of digital devices, users are demanding high quality music in the music industry, and artificial intelligence assistant is coming along with high quality music and streaming service. The results of this study can be used to protect the rights of copyright holders in these industries.
