A Longitudinal Study on Adolescent's Multicultural Acceptability and School Adjustment using Autoregressive cross-lagged model

  • This study aims to analyze the mutual influences between adolescents' multicultural acceptability and school adjustment. Research problems for research are as follows. First, is multicultural acceptability and school adjustment stable over time? Second, what is the longitudinal impact of school adjustment on multicultural acceptability over time? Third, what is the longitudinal impact of multicultural acceptability on school adjustment over time? The results of analyzing the research problems by applying the autoregressive cross-lagged model are as follows. First, the autoregressive model of school adjustment has a significant effect on the future time point and is stable over time. Second, the autoregressive model of multicultural acceptability have a significant effect on the future time point and is stable over time. Third, cross-lagged effect from school adjustment to multicultural acceptability has a statistically significant effect on the multicultural acceptability at a later time, and is stable over time. Fourth, cross-lagged effect from multicultural acceptability to school adjustment was not statistically significant at the time of multicultural acceptability, and there was no change with time. This study is meaningful to provide the theoretical and practical implications by verifying the influence of the three - year term data over time.

  • This longitudinal study investigated the causal relationships between academic achievement and self-esteem using data from a 4-year investigation(2003-2006). Academic achievements and self-esteem were assessed for a sample of adolescents (male 187, female 201) in KYPS (Korea Youth Panel Survey). Cross-lagged autoregressive analyses indicated that for academic achievement and self-esteem, these two variables were reciprocally interrelated in middle school. However, thereafter, middle school 3rd grade students' self-esteem influenced high school 1st grade students' academic achievement, while high school 1st grade students' academic achievement influenced high school 2nd grade students' self-esteem.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the longitudinal causal relationship between caregiver relations and peer relations of children in out-of-home care. We analyzed the three years(2011-2013) of longitudinal data from the Panel Study on Korean Children in Out-of-Home Care. The autoregressive cross-lagged model (ARCL) was used to measure the longitudinal causal relationship between caregiver relations and peer relations. As a result, first, caregiver relations and peer relations showed stability over time. In other words, the results of the measurement at three time points showed that the caregiver relations and peer relations at the previous time had a significant effect on the caregiver relations and peer relations at the later time point. Second, the previous caregiver relations had a significant effect on the subsequent peer relations over time. Third, the previous peer relations had a significant effect on the subsequent caregiver relations over time. This study confirmed the interrelationships of caregiver relations and peer relations of children in care by examining the longitudinal data using the longitudinal analysis method.

노년기 주관적 건강상태와 우울 간의 종단적 상호인과관계: 자기회귀교차지연모형의 검증 (The Longitudinal Reciprocal Relationship between Self-rated Health Status and Depression in the Elderly : Testing the Autoregressive Cross-lagged Model)

  • 본 연구는 노년기 주관적 건강상태와 우울 간의 종단적 상호인과관계를 밝히는 데 있다. 이를 위해 전국단위의 조사자료인 고령화연구패널조사 제5차연도 자료부터, 제6차연도, 제7차연도 자료까지 추적 조사에 모두 응답한 65세 이상 3,363명을 대상으로 자기회귀교차지연모형을 검증하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이전 시점의 주관적 건강상태는 이후 시점의 주관적 건강상태에 정(+)적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 이전 시점의 우울은 이후 시점의 우울에 정(+)적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 조사대상 기간 동안 이전 시점의 주관적 건강상태는 이후 시점의 우울에 부(-)적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 그러나 이전 시점의 우울은 이후 시점의 주관적 건강상태에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 연구결과에 기초해 노년기 초기 기초체력 증진을 위한 체계적인 정책의 필요성과 건강증진 프로그램의 확대 시행 및 통합적 우울 관리 프로그램 시행이 필요함을 제안하였다.

A Longitudinal Study on Adolescent's Community Consciousness and Life Satisfaction using Autoregressive Cross-lagged Model

  • This study aims to identify causal variables by examining the mutual influences of community consciousness and life satisfaction. We used some data of KCYPS. A longitudinal study of 1952 adolescents selected as a sample was conducted using the Aautoregressive crossover delay model. The results of this study are as follows: First, it showed that life satisfaction is consistently affecting the later life satisfaction with the passage of time. Second, community consciousness showed that the previous community consciousness has a constant influence on the subsequent community consciousness as time passes. Third, the effect of previous life satisfaction on community consciousness was significant. Therefore, the cross-delay effect of life satisfaction on community awareness was stable with time. In other words, life satisfaction level was a causal variable that takes precedence over community consciousness, and the higher the life satisfaction of the previous time, the higher the level of community consciousness in the future. Fourth, the cross-delay effect of community consciousness on life satisfaction was not significant because community consciousness at previous time had no meaningful effect on life satisfaction at later time, so consciousness of community at previous time affects life satisfaction. This study provided some implications basing on this results.

자기회귀교차지연모형을 이용한 청소년의 휴대폰 과다사용 및 중독적 사용과 우울의 종단적 관계 검증: 성별 간 다집단 분석 (Longitudinal Relationship between Overuse/Addictive Use of Mobile Phones and Depression in Adolescents: Adapting the Autoregressive Cross-Lagged Model and Multiple Group Analysis across Gender)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine whether a temporal relationship would develop between the overuse/addictive use of mobile phones and depression in adolescents. For this study, we used the 4-year longitudinal data (2004-2007, Study 1, which measured the overuse of mobile phones and depression) and the 2-year longitudinal data (2010-2011, Study 2, which measured the addictive use of mobile phones and depression) of the Korea Youth Panel study. In addition, the study explored gender differences with respect to the above mentioned relationship. Autoregressive cross-lagged modeling was carried out, along with a multiple group analysis across genders. The findings showed that the overuse/addictive use of mobile phones and depression in adolescents had a significant effect on the future selves of these adolescents over time. Moreover, the overuse/addictive use of mobile phones had a significant influence on subsequent depression, rather than vice versa. This means that as the overuse/addictive use of mobile phones by adolescents increases, their depression intensifies later on; however, as depression among adolescents intensifies, the overuse/addictive use of mobile phones by adolescents' does not increase. Further, the study showed there were significant gender differences in the longitudinal relationship between the overuse/addictive use of mobile phones and depression. Study 1 shows that, prior to the release of smartphones, the overuse of mobile phones had a definite effect on the depression of only males. However, Study 2 shows that, after the release of smartphones, the effect of the addictive use of mobile phones on depression in females was greater than that in males.

어머니의 우울과 학령전기 유아의 정서 문제 간의 상호적 관계에 대한 단기 종단연구 (A Short-Term Longitudinal Study on the Reciprocal Relations between Mothers' Depression and Their Preschoolers' Emotional Problems)

  • This study examined the causal relationship between a mothers' depression and the emotional problems of their preschool-aged children as indicated by anxiety, depression and emotional reactivity. We analyzed data from 1,528 mothers and their children from the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) collected when the children were 4 years old and 5 years old. Autoregressive cross-lagged modeling was conducted using AMOS ver. 23.0 to investigate the longitudinal reciprocal effects between mothers' depression and children's emotional problems. The results indicated that both mothers' depression and children's emotional problems were relatively stable between the ages of 4 to 5. There were significant cross-lagged effects from the mothers' depression to children's emotional problems and from children's emotional problems to mothers' depression. Mothers reported higher levels of depression when the children were 4 years old and the children showed more anxiety, depression and emotional reactivity when they were 5 years old. Emotional problems when the children were 4 predicted greater depression among mothers 1 year later. We also examined the group difference (between boys and girls) in the study model. Gender differences were not statistically supported. The results suggested that early assessment and intervention for mothers' depression and children's emotional problems are essential for a healthy mother-child relationship and later child outcomes.

부모의 양육방식이 성별 청소년의 우울에 미치는 영향 (Longitudinal relationship between depression and parents' child-rearing attitudes for adolescent)

  • Objectives: This study is aimed at exploring the temporal developmental relationship of adolescent depression and parents' child-rearing attitudes, and to examine gender differences in the relationship. The middle school students of the 2011-2013 1st Korea Children and Youth Panel data were used for analysis and the sample consisted of 2.073 individuals. Methods: Research questions were answered through the Latent Growth Model and Autoregressive Cross-Lagged Model. Results: As the results of the Latent Growth Model show, adolescent depression declines as time goes by and there are differences in the depression felt by individuals. An autoregressive cross-lagged model and multiple group analysis were executed by gender. The results show significant gender differences in the relationship between depression and Parents' child-rearing attitudes. Parental neglect has shown differences influencing adolescents depression between males and females. However, in case of parental abuse, no differences between males and females were observed. Conclusion: The results of this study imply that the policy on depression should be carefully considered when preparing for interventions targeting adolescents by gender.

자기주도학습능력과 진로성숙도 간 자기회귀교차지연 효과검증: 서울지역 중·고등학생을 중심으로 (The Longitudinal Relationship between Self-directed Learning Ability and Career Maturity using Autoregressive Cross-lagged Modeling by Middle and High School Students in Seoul)

  • 본 연구는 서울지역 중 고등학생의 자기주도학습능력과 진로성숙도 간 종단관계를 살펴보기 위해 서울교육종단연구 데이터를 활용하여 자기회귀교차지연 모형검증을 실시하였다. 분석 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기주도학습능력 변인의 경우, 1차년도에서 6차년도에 이르는 시간경로에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로성숙도 변인 역시 1차년도에서 6차년도에 이르는 시간경로에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자기주도학습능력이 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향은 시간 흐름에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 영향관계를 보인 반면, 진로성숙도가 자기주도학습능력에 미치는 영향은 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 보이지 않았다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 중학교에서의 자기주도학습 강화 프로그램 정착, 입시제도가 아닌 진로발달단계를 고려한 진로지도 및 진로교육, 중 고등학교에의 진로진학상담교사 추가 배치 등을 제안하였다.

인식된 과잉자격이 직무재창조와 조직몰입에 미치는 영향: 종단연구 (Perceived Overqualification and Its Relationships with Job Crafting and Organizational Commitment: A Longitudinal Study)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 근래에 노동시장에서 부각되고 있는 과잉자격 문제를, 직무설계 관점에서 긍정적으로 해소하는 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 과잉자격이란, 조직구성원이 보유한 기술, 지식, 교육 수준이 자신에게 부여된 업무에서 요구하는 자격요건 수준보다 상회하는 상태이다. 그동안 과잉자격의 부작용이 중점적으로 연구되어 왔지만, 본 연구는 이를 극복하는 돌파구로서 직무재창조에 초점을 두었다. 과잉자격에 대한 조직구성원의 인식이 직무재창조 활동을 촉발시키고, 나아가 조직몰입을 제고하는 과정을 자기회귀교차지연 모형으로 실증하였다. 3개월 간격으로 총 3차례에 걸쳐 반복측정하여 263명의 종단자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과, 조직구성원의 인식된 과잉자격이 직무재창조와 조직몰입에 미치는 교차지연적 효과는 유의미하게 나타났다. 그리고 이전 시기의 직무재창조는 다음 시기의 조직몰입에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 다른 역인과관계는 발견되지 않았다. 즉, 인식된 과잉자격과 조직몰입의 관계에서 직무재창조의 종단적 매개효과를 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 토대로, 과잉자격을 자각하는 조직구성원이 자발적으로 직무재창조에 나설 수 있는 조직풍토를 조성할 것을 제언하고, 이를 추진할 수 있는 개입 방안을 논의하였다.
