항공기 엔진에 의한 대기오염 (Air Pollution by Airplane Engines)

  • Air pollutant emissions from airplane engines are estimated about 2 to 4 % of mobile source of USA and European countries which is not a large portion of current air pollution. But the passengers and airfreights are continuously increasing 5 to 7% annually and potential demands of air transportation services come to present, it could effect air pollutant emissions of USA will increase within 15 years. In case of our country, there has been continuous increase of air transportation service due to considerable economic growth in recent years and increase of air pollutant emissions of major international airports has followed. Rapid increase of air transportation due to launching of Inchon International Airport could effect air pollution dominantly. By this circumstance environmental specialist as well as mass communication raised necessity of air pollutant emission regulation from airplane engines. It is estimated that air pollutant emissions from airplane engines in our country is 2.7% of automobile sources, 10,809 ton, which is the same level as USA and European countries. It is increased by 12,2% compared to air pollutant emissions during 1996 and it will be increased more than a half of current air pollutant emission within 15 years due to our country's economic condition. Therefore implementation of airplane engine emissions regulation as well as test standards and accumulation of technology about characteristics of airplane engine emission and reduction method are needed. And continuous estimation of air pollutant emission from airplane engines and monitoring of increment as well as development of countermeasures by long term are necessary.

모의 수송 환경에서의 청과물 골판지 상자의 진동 피로에 따른 내구성 (Durability of Corrugated Fiberboard Container for Fruit and Vegetables by Vibration Fatigue at Simulated Transportation Environment)

  • The compression strength of corrugated fiberboard container for packaging the agricultural products rapidly decreases because of various environmental conditions during distribution of unitized products. Among various environmental conditions, the main factors affecting the compression strength of corrugated fiberboard are absorption of moisture, long-term accumulative load, and fatigue caused by shock and vibration. An estimated rate of damage for fruit during distribution is about from 30 to 40 percent owing to the shock and vibration. This study was carried out to characterize the durability of corrugated fiberboard container for packaging the fruit and vegetables under simulated transportation environment. The vibration test system was constructed to simulate the land transportation using truck. After the package with corrugated fiberboard container was vibrated by vibration test system at various experimental conditions, the compression test for the package was performed. The compression strength of corrugated fiberboard container decreased with loading weight and vibrating time. The multiple nonlinear regression equation for predicting the decreasing rate of compression strength of corrugated fiberboard containers were developed using four independent variables such as input acceleration level, input frequency, loading weight and vibrating time. The influence of loading weight on the decreasing rate of corrugated fiberboard container was larger than other variables.

  • As environmental problems around the world become serious, Korea has also raised the greenhouse gas reduction in the building sector to 32.8% compared to 2018, and efforts to reduce carbon in buildings are expanding. Recently, research is being actively conducted to reduce carbon in the long term by expanding the scope of greenhouse gas indirect emissions (Scope3), and even within the domestic Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design(G-SEED) by quantitatively evaluating the environmental impact of buildings during the entire life cycle. However, it is difficult to accurately evaluate the carbon emission of the transportation process by assuming the material transport distance in the evaluation of the Life Cycle Assessment(LCA). Therefore, in this study, the main building materials of the building were selected through case evaluation and the carbon emission of the material transport process was derived based on the actual transport distance, and this was compared and analyzed with the theoretical LCA results.

  • Urban transit or subway stations generally service for a long period of several decades. And, the urban transit or subway is public transportation which lots of people takes every day. During the service time, they are inevitably damaged from environmental corrosion, material aging, fatigue, and the coupling effects with long-term loads and extreme loads. The included damage accumulates and performance degenerates due to the above factors. They would inevitably reduce the resisting capacity of station against the disaster; even they result in collapse with the structural failure under extreme loads. And, if disaster such as earthquake, fire, etc. happens, it causes huge property damage and threatens the human lives. Because of these above reasons, the intelligent health surveillance system should be researched and developed for ensuring the safety of station. In this paper, the research plans of the intelligent health surveillance system of urban transit station are presented. And also, the development or establishment directions of this system are suggested.

계면활성제 농도가 빙결정의 입자크기에 미치는 영향 (Growth of Ice Crystal with Concentration of Surfactant in Water Solution)

  • Recently, a thermal energy storage system has been developed actively fur the purpose of saving energy and reducing the peak electrical demand. Especially, ice slurry is a promising working fluid for low temperature energy storage systems. A flow of ice crystals has a large cooling capacity as a result of the involvement of latent heat. However, there are still problems related to the recrystallization of ice crystals for realizing long term storage and long distance transportation. To find improvements fur this, a method for the creation of ice crystals resistant to recrystallization has been proposed and researched by the use of an antifreeze protein (AFP) solution etc. In the present study, it has been investigated the growth of ice crystal in several kinds of water solution added non-ionic surfactant. The results shows that size of ice crystal was smaller with increasing in added surfactant. And ice crystal was not increased with added surfactant.

Lead-Lag Relationships between Import Commodity Prices and Freight Rates: The Case of Raw Material Imports of Korea

  • Purpose - This study investigates the lead-lag relations between the prices of major commodities imported into Korea and corresponding shipping freight rates. This paper aims to provide implications for cross-market causal relations between related economic segments. Design/Methodology - For economic long-run equilibrium between commodity prices and freights, a Johansen (1988) cointegration test is employed first. Then, Granger (1987) causality tests are performed under the vector error correction model (VECM) framework. Findings - The results indicate that the direction of causality varies by raw materials, which is attributable to different economic mechanisms in the corresponding shipping transportation sectors. In addition, the significance of causality becomes blurred during the post-2008 period. Practical Implication - Corporate managers in commodity trading, steelmaking, power generation, and oil refinery sectors can take advantage of the findings in this study as identifying leading economic indicators can be helpful for decision making in both short- and long-term strategies. Originality/value - This study is the first attempt to analyze the inter-relations between commodity prices and corresponding freight rates focusing on raw material imports of Korea.

한강수계 발전용댐 장기 운영계획 수립을 위한 최적화 모형 구축 (Development of Optimization Model for Long-term Operation Planning of the Hydropower Reservoirs in Han River Basin)

  • 우리나라는 60% 이상이 산간지형에 해당하며 수십 년 전부터 이러한 특성을 이용하여 수력발전소를 다수 건설하고 친환경적인 에너지를 생산해왔다. 수력발전은 급변하는 에너지 수급에 대처할 수 있고 낙차를 이용하여 친환경적으로 에너지를 생산한다는 장점이 있으나 댐 설립시 입지 조건에 의해 불가피하게 환경을 훼손해야 하는 경우가 많다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존 발전용댐들의 장기 운영계획을 수립하고자 월별 발전량을 최대화하는 최적 저수지 운영 모형을 개발하였다. 댐 운영 모형은 자원 최적화 분야에서 널리 이용되는 선형계획법을 기반으로 월단위로 1년 운영계획을 수립할 수 있는 형태로 구축하였다. 선형계획법은 목적함수와 제약조건 모두 선형식으로 이루어져야 하지만 발전량 산정식은 비선형식이기 때문에 Taylor Expansion 기법을 활용하여 선형화하였다. 개발된 모형을 검토하기 위해 한강수계에 위치하는 5개 발전용댐을 대상으로2009~2018년의 실적자료와 댐 운영 모형의 결과를 비교, 분석하였다. 결과적으로 발전용댐들의 총 최적 발전량은 총 실적 발전량보다 약 10~37% 정도 향상된 결과를 나타내었다.

마이크로웨이브 발열양생에 의해 제작된 저심도 철도시스템용 PC BOX의 장기내구성 평가 (The Long-term Durability Evaluation of PC Box for Near-surface Transit System manufactured by Microwave Heat curing)

  • 본 연구에서는 저심도 도시철도시스템 구축시 건설비용의 절감을 위하여 산업부산물인 고로슬래그 미분말과 플라이애쉬로 결합재의 일부를 대체하고, 급냉 전기로 산화슬래그를 잔골재의 대체재료로 사용한 저탄소 친환경 콘크리트와 우수한 조기강도 확보와 양생비용 절감을 위한 마이크로웨이브 발열거푸집으로 제작한 PC BOX의 장기내구성 평가를 수행하였다. 평가결과, 초기강도는 발열양생 조건이 증기양생 조건에 비해 다소 높게 나타났지만 장기재령 강도는 거의 대등한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 화학저항성 및 동결융해 저항성 평가 결과, 재령별 발열 및 증기양생을 통해 제작된 PC BOX의 성능차이는 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 염소이온침투성 평가 결과 역시 발열 및 증기양생 PC BOX 모두 매우 낮은 등급의 수준을 확보하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 저탄소 친환경 콘크리트와 발열양생시스템을 적용하여 저심도 철도시스템용 PC BOX를 제작할 경우, 기존 증기양생방법과 대등한 내구성능을 확보할 수 있어 저비용의 저심도 철도시스템 콘크리트 인프라 구축에 기여할 수 있으며, 또한 증기양생 시 사용되는 화석연료의 사용량을 제로화해 이산화탄소 배출 및 환경부하를 저감할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

도로교통분야 전문도서관 발전방향 모색에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development Direction of Specialized Library in Road Traffic Field)

  • 본 연구는 4차 산업혁명과 포스트 코로나 시대를 대비한 도로교통 분야의 특성화를 살려 도서관의 비전 및 핵심가치를 정립하고 지속적으로 성장할 수 있는 한국도로공사 도서관의 중장기 발전계획 수립을 위한 기초연구로, 한국도로공사 이용자를 대상으로 현재 도서관의 현황 및 만족도, 수요도 조사를 실시하고 이를 기반으로 향후 중장기 발전계획 방향을 제안하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 한국도로공사 도서관은 국가 도로교통 대표 전문도서관으로서 관련 자료의 망라적 수집·보존 역할과 더불어 학술 및 연구 활동 지원 도서관으로서 역할로 구성원의 즉각적인 정보 요구에 대응하기 위한 정보서비스 제공해야 한다. 둘째, 체계적인 장서개발 정책 수립이 필요하며, 도로교통 관련 세부 주제별 장서 수집이 필요하다. 셋째, 전반적인 서비스 개발이 필요하여, 한국도로공사 도서관 홈페이지 및 모바일 서비스를 개발해야 한다. 마지막으로 공간 재구성을 통한 공간 개선이 이루어져야 하며, 최신화 기술 도입을 통한 이용 편리성 확대가 필요하다.

낙도보조항로 이용자의 서비스 만족도에 관한 실증연구 (A Study on the User's Satisfaction Level for Remote Island Services)

  • 이 연구에서는 낙도보조항로의 운영현황과 선박이용자의 서비스 만족도를 실증분석 하였다. 특히 낙도보조항로 선박 이용자를 중심으로 1,000부의 설문지를 배포하여 서비스 만족도 정도를 심층 분석하였다는데 그 의미를 부여할 수 있겠다. 전체 만족도를 분석한 결과 5점 만점에 약 2.8점 정도로 보통수준보다 약간 상회한 것으로 조사됐다. 낙도보조항로를 이용하는 이용자들의 서비스 만족도 정도가 그리 높지 않음을 알 수 있다. 낙도보조항로 중장기 발전방향 수립시 이들 내용이 충분히 검토되어 정책에 반영될 수 있도록 정부 뒷받침이 요구된다.
