Since the characteristic frequency is decreased in proportion to the fault distance, the characteristic frequency component may be insufficiently eliminated by a low-pass filter on a long transmission line. In order to set a standard for the cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter, this paper proposes a method for obtaining the characteristic frequencies due to line faults. The application results of the proposed method are presented for line to ground (LG) faults and line to line (LL) faults on a 345 kV 200 km overhead transmission line. The EMTP is used to generate fault signals under different fault locations and fault inception angles. By comparison between the characteristic frequencies obtained from the proposed method and the EMTP simulation, it is shown that the proposed method accurately obtains the characteristic frequency.

Prestressed concrete (PSC) members are readly available in civil engineering applications due to the convenience of construction and easy of quality control in the manufacturing process of the member. Especially, half-depth precast concrete composite slab, which is one of the PSC flexural members is developed recently using the long-line method. The half-depth precast concrete composite slabs are composed of the precast concrete and the in-situ concrete placed at the site. In this paper, we present the results of experimental investigations pertaining to the pretensioning efficiency and the flexural behavior of half-depth precast concrete composite slab which is made of precast PSC manufactured by the long-line method. In the long-line method, the pretensioned precast member is manufactured simultaneously, by tensioning tendons at once. In addition, we suggest the equation that can estimate the flexural strength of half-depth precast concrete composite slab reasonably by considering the effects of rebar embedded in the precast PSC flexural member.

A technology of ultrasonic biotelemetry for tracking fish behavior is investigated. The ultrasonic biotelemetry system is constituted by a transmitter and a receiving system. Because a pinger was mainly used for the transmitter, the capability for pinger to possess was investigated and the efficient usage for pinger was examined. A source pressure level and a frequency were synthetically examined so that pinger could realize small size, a light weight, and a long life time. The receiving system is divided roughly into directional hydrophone systems and acoustic positioning systems by the receiving method. The directional hydrophone system is divided into single beam and multiple beam with the number of hydrophone, and the acoustic positioning systems is divided into LBL (Long Base Line), SBL (Short Base Line), and SSBL (Super Short Base Line) on the basis of base line. The present situation, the merits and demerits, and the principle of each receiving method were investigated in detail, and the efficient usage for each receiving method were examined.

A fishing gear is an used tool to achieve fishery effectively. Especially, long line is fishery method to confect branch line to fixed space to main line and bind fishhook 1 in branch line end. This paper presents the design and implementation of fishing gear type setting system for fishing gear layout management in the long line work. In this paper, we design overall fishing gear type setting system. For this purpose, the modules such as system user and communication environment setting module, fishing gear type setting module, module of fishing gear shooting model are designed and implemented. For the validity evaluation of this paper, fishing gear type design and shooting process are implemented and tested.

In this paper, the improved fault locating method using distributed parameter which calculating the reduced voltage and current according to the ground capacitance in long transmission line was proposed. For the purpose of the fault locating algorithm non influenced source impedance, the loop method was used in the system modeling analysis. To enhance the fault locating, zero sequence of the fault current which is variable according to ground capacitance was not used but positive and negative sequence. System model was simulated using EMTP software. To verify the accuracy of proposed method, in different cases 64 sampled data per cycle was used and 160km and 300km long transmission line has fault resistance $0{\Omega}\;and\;100{\Omega}$ respectively was compared.

A field-oriented UHF system for on-line PD monitoring of transformers. is designed, which has been installed inside the oil tank of a transformer by two ways: on-line installing mode through the oil-valve and pre-installing mode through the man hole/hand hole cover. This system has successfully captured long intermittent discharge signals that hadn't been detected through conventional techniques, and solved the problem successfully. The results demonstrate that UHF technique has great advantages for on-line PD monitoring of transformers. By adopting the peak detection technique, it becomes easy and effective for the transplantation of the phase-resolved pattern recognition technique from conventional method to UHF method, and then to realize continuous on-line monitoring, source characterization and trending analysis.

This paper describes that send some signal from encoder attached to crankshaft of marine-engine to measuring instrument using power line modem(PLM) and display cylinder pressure, rpm and etc. on LCD. Conventional method that sends signal along the long signal line has some inconvenience from too long signal line length caused by huge volume of ship's engine. Power line modem can have short signal line from outlets to measuring instrument. Because it use exist power line for send signals, so it have low installation cost and could have good merits in job sites. Through this experiment, pressure in cylinder, engine rpm and etc. signals through PLM are well recognized at measuring instrument.

In this study, we designed a fishing system to reproduce the underwater movement of the living Sword tip squid (Loligo edulis) used as bait in the red seabream long line fishery, and conducted the experiment of the fishing operation in 2 ways, i.e., a pole and line fishing method (fishermen) and a bait control fishing system used at fishing sites. Based on the catches in fishing operation, the experiment was conducted over a six times (2014 & 2015), and then 107 fishes were caught by the line fishing method while 57 fishes were caught by the bait control fishing system. The fishermen method actively controlled the speed of gear movement upward and downward while checking the reaction of red seabreams to the bite in the process which a jerk was transmitted to single line hook fishing gear manually. The bait control fishing system is a passive method which fishermen visually check only the movements at the end of fishing pole, enabled differentiation of bite reactions of red seabream during fishing operation. Thus, the difference between fishermen method and the bait control fishing system was found to about 53.3% in the catches. We confirmed the possibility of a site fishing operation based on the bait control fishing system designed newly as a result of this study. Improvement is in several areas for commercialization at the site. This fishing system is expected to be able to find wide-ranging applications as a new labor-saving method for the fishing red seabreams if it is applied to the fishing sites after aforesaid process.

Printed circuit board (PCB) assembly line configuration is characterized by very long set-up times and high work in process (WIP) inventory level. The scheduling method can significantly reduce the set-up times and WIP inventory level. Greedy sequence dependent scheduling (GSDS) method is proposed based on the current methods. The proposed method is compared with the current method in terms of three performance measures: line throughput, average WIP inventory level, and implementation complexity.

Low frequency towed line array with high array gain and beam resolution is a long range surveillance sensor for anti-submarine warfare. The beam characteristics is however deteriorated due to the distorted line array sensor caused by low towing speed, wind, current, and towing ship maneuvering. An adaptive beamforming method is utilized in this paper to enhance the distorted line array beam performance by estimating and compensating the nonlinear array shape. A polynomial curve fitting in the least square sense is used to estimate the array shape iteratively with the distributed heading sensors data along the array. Real time array shape estimation and nonlinear array beam calculation is applied to a very long towed line array sensor system and the beam performance is evaluated and compared to the linear beamformer for the simulation and sea trial data.
