(i.e., DRAM embedded SIP) .When SIP is developed using discrete packages, the I/O driver Capa. of each device may be so high for SIP. Since I/O driver capa. was optimized to discrete package and set board environment, this resulted in severe noise problem in SIP. longrightarrow In this case, the electrical performance of product (including PKG) should have been considered (simulated) in the beginning stage of business planning (or design).

  • In this paper, we designed the embedded system used for wireless LAN communication. Embedded system kernel is made from general linux kernel 2.4.18 by applying the ARM patch (2.4.18-rmk7) and the SA1100 patch(2.4.18-rmk7), then porting board level suitable to target system. The SA-1110 PCMCIA interface provides controls for one PCMCIA card slot with a PSKTSEL pin for support of a second slot. The embedded system requires external logic to complete the PCMCIA socket interface. For dual-voltage support, level shifting buffers are required for all SA-1110 input signals. Hot insertion capability requires that each socket be electrically isolated from each other, and from the remainder of the memory system. embedded system is for socket services approaching PCMCIA socket, detecting number of sockets, sensing insertion and removal, and applying power. It also provides interface with Card services. Embedded system supports Host driver for lucent chips that is installed orinoco driver cross compiled. The meaning can say that is doing wireless LAN communication through wireless LAN in imbedded system.

  • This paper represents an investigation of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control system using Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation(HiLS). Control logic is primarily developed and tested with a specially equipped test vehicle. Establishment of an efficient and low cost development tool is a very important issue, and test vehicle approach is costly and time consuming. HiLS method is useful in the investigation of driver assistance and active safety systems. The HiLS system consists of a stepper motor for throttle control, a hydraulic brake system with an electronic vacuum booster, an electronic controller unit, a data logging computer which are used to save vehicle states and signals of actuator through a CAN and a simulation computer using mathematical vehicle model. Adaptation of a CAN instead of RS-232 Serial Interface for communication is a trend in the automotive industry. Since this environment is the same as a test vehicle, a control logic verified in laboratory can be easily transferred to a test vehicle.

A Development of Fuzzy Logic-Based Evaluation Model for Traffic Accident Risk Level (퍼지 이론을 이용한 교통사고 위험수준 평가모형)

  • The evaluation of risk level or possibility of traffic accidents is a fundamental task in reducing the dangers associated with current transportation system. However, due to the lack of data and basic researches for identifying such factors, evaluations so far have been undertaken by only the experts who can use their judgements well in this regard. Here comes the motivation this thesis to evaluate such risk level more or less in an automatic manner. The purpose of this thesis is to test the fuzzy-logic theory in evaluating the risk level of traffic accidents. In modeling the process of expert's logical inference of risk level determination, only the geometric features have been considered for the simplicity of the modeling. They are the visibility of road surface, horizontal alignment, vertical grade, diverging point, and the location of pedestrain crossing. At the same time, among some inference methods, fuzzy composition inference method has been employed as a back-bone inference mechanism. In calibration, the proposed model used four sites' data. After that, using calibrated model, six sites' risk levels have been identified. The results of the six sites' outcomes were quite similar to those of real world other than some errors caused by the enforcement of the model's output. But it seems that this kind of errors can be overcome in the future if some other factors such as driver characteristics, traffic environment, and traffic control conditions have been considered. Futhermore, the application of site's specific time series data would produce better results.

  • The retarder as a hydraulic brake system in order to assist a service brakes in commercial vehicle is operated by automatic and manual mode due to driver. Braking energy by retarder operation is transmitted to the engine radiator of vehicle cooling system, passing through the retarder oil heat exchanger. At this moment, the retarder ECU performs the function that is controlled a braking torque with consideration for automatic and manual mode, temperature of retarder oil/water, engine coolant temperature, vehicle speed, and etc. In this paper, it deals with the design of retarder control logic and the results of retarder braking performance test regarding a cooling system of retarder and vehicle.

  • Recently many cars are equipping a navigation system. The main purpose of the early system guides a user through the route. A navigation system includes various abilities by development of various technologies and it has given more convenience to user. It can play various records on the tape and announces which are useful information about each road. Also it can use various multi-media contents by DMB device during driving. However, guide function of basic and important road in the navigation system has not grown greatly yet. In this paper, we proposed recommendation method of human-friendly road considering user's condition through various information of outside environment, user's velocity intention, a driver's emotion and a preference of the road. Modules consists of hierarchical structure that can easily correct and add each algorithm and those use fuzzy logic algorithm.

  • As going through technical transition of signal control logic to mechanic, electric, electronic etc., railway signalling system utilizing computer control technology has recently been developed and used since railroad service had been firstly started in 1825 by beginning that horseman kept red color sign and notified something wrong existence and nonexistence of front route to train driver in the Britain. In this paper, the domestic technical change process of signalling technology to be a basic of train control technology is discussed and then reviewed about technical trend of advanced nation's development.

On the Multiple Constructed ATC(Automatic Train Control) Systems for the Railway Vehicles (철도차량용 다중화된 ATC 장치)

  • The carborne Automatic Train Control(ATC) system keeps automatically optimum train speed code signals from wayside(track) circuit equipment. If there is no response for braking against the over speed detected, the driver will be noticed instantly by visual and audible warning signals. And then the ATC processes into braking mode for safe train operations to prevent any hazards by over speed limit. In this paper we are introduced the novel ATC system which has triple constructed structure made by 32 bit floating point DSP(ADSP21020-20) and process dealed with frequency domain and time domain for detecting signals. Owing to these reason it is no needed several band pass filters used in conventional ATC systems to detect the speed limit frequency. Also system's reliability and tolerance are incremented by adopt to 2 out of 3 logic to the outputs decision.

  • To integrate the sensor driver and logic circuits, fabricating down scaled transistors has been main issue. At this research, short channel effects were analyzed after n channel polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor was fabricated at high temperature. As a result, on current, on/off current ratio and transconductance were increased but threshold voltage, electron mobility and s-slope were reduced with a decrease of channel length. When carriers that develop at grain boundary in activated polycrystalline silicon have no gate biased, on current was increased with punch through by drain current. Also, due to BJT effect (parallel bipolar effect) that developed under region of channel by increase of gate voltage on current was rapidly increased.

  • This paper describes design and tuning of a full-range Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with collision avoidance. The control scheme is designed to control the vehicle so that it would feel natural to the human driver and passengers during normal safe driving situations and to avoid rear-end collision in vehicle following situations. In this study, driving situations are determined using a non-dimensional warning index and time-to-collision (TTC). A confusion matrix method based on natural driving data sets was used to tune control parameters in the proposed ACC System. An ECU-Brake Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation (HiLS) was developed and used for an evaluation of ACC System. The ECU-Brake HiLS results for alternative driving situation are compared to manual driving data measured on actual traffic way. The ACC/CA control logic implemented in an ECU was tested using the ECU-Brake HiLS in a real vehicle environment.
