Obtaining accurate location information is important in practical applications of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The distance vector hop (DV-Hop) is a frequently-used range-free localization algorithm in WSNs, but it has low localization accuracy. Moreover, despite various improvements to DV-Hop-based localization algorithms, maintaining a balance between high localization accuracy and good stability and convergence is still a challenge. To overcome these shortcomings, we proposed an improved DV-Hop localization algorithm based on the bat algorithm (IBDV-Hop) for WSNs. The IBDV-Hop algorithm incorporates optimization methods that enhance the accuracy of the average hop distance and fitness function. We also introduce a nonlinear dynamic inertial weight strategy to extend the global search scope and increase the local search accuracy. Moreover, we develop an updated solutions strategy that avoids premature convergence by the IBDV-Hop algorithm. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the IBDV-Hop algorithm achieves higher localization accuracy than the original DV-Hop algorithm and other improved algorithms. The IBDV-Hop algorithm also exhibits good stability, search capability and convergence, and it requires little additional time complexity and energy consumption.

This paper addresses the analysis and design of fuzzy control systems for a class of complex nonlinear systems. Firstly, the nonlinear system is represented by Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model and the global controller is constructed by compensating each linear model in the rule of TS fuzzy model. The design of conventional TS fuzzy-model-based controller is composed of two processes. One is to determine the static state feedback gain of each local model and the other is to validate the stability of the designed fuzzy controller. In this paper, we propose an alternative methods for the design of TS fuzzy-model-based controller. The design scheme is based on the extension of conventional optimal control theory to the design of TS fuzzy-model-based controller. By using the proposed method, the design and stability analysis of the TS fuzzy model-based controller is reduced to the problem of finding the solution of a set of algebraic Riccati equations. And we use the recently developed interior point method to find the solution of AREs, where AREs are recast as the LMI formulation. A numerical simulation example is given to show the effectiveness and feasibiltiy of the proposed fuzzy controller design method.
This paper addresses the analysis and design of fuzzy control systems for a class of complex single input single output nonlinear systems. Firstly, the nonlinear system is represented by well-known Takagai-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model and the global controller is constructed by compensating each linear model in the rule of TS fuzzy model. The design of conventional TS fuzzy-model-based controller usually is composed of two processes. One is to determine static state feedback gain of each local model and the other is to validate the stability of the designed fuzzy controller. In this paper, we propose an alternative of the design of TS fuzzy-model-based controller. The design scheme is based on the extension of conventional optimal control theory to the design of TS fuzzy-model-based controller. By using the proposed method the design and stability analysis of the TS fuzzy model-based controller is reduced to the problem of finding the solution of a set of algebraic Riccati equations. And we use the recently developed interior point method to find the solution of AREs, where AREs are recast as the LMI formulation. One simulation example is given to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed fuzzy controller design method.
As a GPS stability problem arises, MLAT system is spotlighted as an alternative technology of ADS-B. MLAT system has a high position accuracy as much as ADS-B. Also, MLAT receives the mode A,C,S, and 1090ES(ADS-B) signals from the mounted aircraft transponder. MLAT receives signals from several receiver units and calculates aircraft positions. MLAT has ADS-B level positioning accurarcy using GPS and can calculate the position information with objects independently. According to global environment changes, Local area multiltilateration(LAM) surveillance system is under development for moving vehicles and aircraft detection in airport. These are still under testing in Tae-an Airfield. In the paper, we analyzed the performance by comparing the calculated position data from MLAT to RTK. In order to confirm the position accuracy of MLAT and the deviation of position data between fixed target and moving target on the ground during the field test in Tae-an Airfield.
Axially compressed circular cylinders repeat symmetry-breaking bifurcation in the postbuckling region. There exist stable equilibria with all symmetry broken in the buckled configuration, and the minimum postbuckling strength is attained at the deep bottom of closely spaced equilibrium branches. The load level corresponding to such postbuckling stable solutions is usually much lower than the initial buckling load and may serve as a strength limit in shell stability design. The primary concern in the present paper is to compute these possible postbuckling stable solutions at the deep bottom of the postbuckling region. Two computational approaches are used for this purpose. One is the application of individual procedures in computational bifurcation theory. Path-tracing, pinpointing bifurcation points and (local) branch-switching are all applied to follow carefully the postbuckling branches with the decreasing load in order to attain the target at the bottom of the postbuckling region. The buckled shell configuration loses its symmetry stepwise after each (local) branch-switching procedure. The other is to introduce the idea of path jumping (namely, generalized global branch-switching) with static imperfection. The static response of the cylinder under two-parameter loading is computed to enable a direct access to postbuckling equilibria from the prebuckling state. In the numerical example of an elastic perfect circular cylinder, stable postbuckling solutions are computed in these two approaches. It is demonstrated that a direct path jump from the undeformed state to postbuckling stable equilibria is possible for an appropriate choice of static perturbations.
The ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm is a classical metaheuristic optimization algorithm. However, the conventional ACO was liable to trap in the local minimum and has an inherent slow rate of convergence. In this work, we propose a novel combinatorial ACO algorithm (CG-ACO) to alleviate these limitations. The genetic algorithm and the cloud model were embedded into the ACO to find better initial solutions and the optimal parameters. In the experiment section, we compared CG-ACO with the state-of-the-art methods and discussed the parameter stability of CG-ACO. The experiment results showed that the CG-ACO achieved better performance than ACOR, simple genetic algorithm (SGA), CQPSO and CAFSA and was more likely to reach the global optimal solution.

This paper proposes a hybrid searching algorithm based on parameter identification for power system load models. Hybrid searching was performed by the combination of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and a complex method, which enhances the convergence of solutions closer to minima and takes advantage of global searching with PSO. In this paper, the load model of interest is composed of a ZIP model and a third-order model for induction motors for stability analysis, and parameter sets are obtained that best-fit the output measurement data using the hybrid search. The origin of the hybrid method is to further apply the complex method as a local search for finding better solutions using the selected particles from the performed PSO procedure.
This work deals with an explicit guidance and control architecture for autonomous lunar ascent and orbit injection, i.e., the locally-flat near-optimal guidance, accompanied by nonlinear reduced-attitude control. This is a new explicit guidance scheme, based on the local projection of the position and velocity variables, in conjunction with the real-time solution of the associated minimum-time problem. A recently-introduced quaternion-based reduced-attitude control algorithm, which enjoys quasi-global stability properties, is employed to drive the longitudinal axis of the ascent vehicle toward the desired direction. Actuation, based on thrust vectoring, is modeled as well. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations prove the effectiveness of the guidance, control, and actuation architecture proposed in this study for precise lunar orbit insertion, in the presence of nonnominal flight conditions.
The equation error formulation in the adaptive IIR filtering provides convergence to a global minimum regardless a local minimum with a large stability margin. However, the equation error formulation suffers from the bias in the coefficient estimates. In this paper, a new algorithm, which does not require a prespecification of the noise variance, is proposed for the equation error formulation. This algorithm is based on the equation error smoothing and provides an unbiased parameter estimate in the presence of white noise. Through simulations, it is demonstrated that the algorithm eliminates the bias in the parameter estimate while retaining good properties of the equation error formulation such as fast convergence speed and the large stability margin.

Chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) process has been widely used to planarize dielectric layers, which can be applied to the integrated circuits for deep sub-micron technology. The reverse moat etch process has been used for the shallow trench isolation(STI)-chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) process with conventional low selectivity slurries. Thus, the process became more complex, and the defects were seriously increased. In this paper, we studied the direct STI-CMP process without reverse moat etch step using high selectivity slurry(HSS). As our experimental results show, it was possible to achieve a global planarization without the complicated reverse moat process, the STI-CMP process could be dramatically simplified, and the defect level was reduced. Therefore the throughput, yield, and stability in the ULSI semiconductor device fabrication could be greatly improved.
