RC flat plates that have no flexural stiffness by boundary beams may be governed by a serviceability as well as a strength condition. A construction sequence and its impact on the distributions of construction loads among slabs tied by shores are decisive factors influencing immediate and long term performances of flat plate. Over-loading and tensile cracking in early-aged slabs significantly increase the deflection of a flat plate system under construction. A reshoring work may be helpful in reducing slab deflections by controlling the vertical distributions of construction loads in a multi-shored flat plate system. In this study, a change of construction loads by reshoring works and its effects on deflections of flat plate systems under construction are analyzed. The slab construction loads with various reshoring schemes are defined by a simplified method, and the practical calculation of slab deflections with considering construction sequences and concrete cracking effects is applied. From parametric studies, the reshoring works are verified to reduce construction loads and slab deflections.
The propagation of cracks was quantitatively analyzed in $Al_2O_3$ ceramic using the mechanoluminescence (ML) of $SrAl_2O_4$:Eu,Dy. The bridging zones behind the crack tip were clearly detected in the crack path of $Al_2O_3$ within a realistic time frame. The magnitudes and shapes of the bridging stress distributions changed with the advancing cracks. They continued to change with the change in the applied load even after the cessation of crack propagation. Effective toughening then commenced, and the applied stress intensity factors dramatically increased up to ~50 MPa $\sqrt{m}$. The expected $K_{Tip}$ values based on the instantaneous bridging stress distributions obtained from the ML observations deviated greatly from those obtained from the measurement using the conventional crack tip lengths; rather, they support the results obtained when bridging tips were used in the quasidynamic crack propagations.
A numerical analysis of elastohydrodynamic lubrication of elliptical contacts with both rolling and spinning has been carried out. A finite difference method with non-uniform grid systems and the Newton-Raphson method are applied to solve the problems. The velocity vectors resulting from combined spinning and rolling/sliding motion lead to asymmetric pressure distributions and film shapes. Pressure distributions, film contours and variations of the minimum and central film thicknesses are compared with various spin-roll ratios. Reduction of the minimum film thickness under spinning is remarkable whereas the central film thickness is relatively less. The spin motion have large effect on variations of the minimum film thickness with load parameter which are small in pure rolling/sliding cases. Therefore present numerical scheme can be used in the analysis of general elliptical contact EHL problems and further studies are required.

A manufacturing process for the axle-housing is analyzed by the rigid-plastic finite element method. The process contains five stages for the final product. During the simulation, remeshings are done four times due to severe mesh distributions. FE Analysis is performed mainly for strain distributions and load-stroke relationships. Those results are to be an useful design criteria for designing a new process sequence in future.
The present article deals with post-buckling of geometrically imperfect concrete plates reinforced by graphene oxide powder (GOP) based on general higher order plate model. GOP distributions are considered as uniform and linear models. Utilizing a shear deformable plate model having five field components, it is feasible to verify transverse shear impacts with no inclusion of correction factor. The nonlinear governing equations have been solved via an analytical trend for deriving post-buckling load-deflection relations of the GOP-reinforced plate. Derived findings demonstrate the significance of GOP distributions, geometric imperfectness, foundation factors, material compositions and geometrical factors on post-buckling properties of reinforced concrete plates.

In this study, the finite element analysis of AA6061 wheel forging processes over hot working range is performed and a thermo-viscoplasticity theory applicable to hot forging is applied for simulation. Aluminum alloy has frequently been utilized to manufacture automobile and aircraft parts due to its various advantages such as lightness, good forgeability, and wear resistance. Several forging conditions are applied to the simulation, such as die speeds, rib thicknesses, and depth of die cavity. The effectiveness of the simulation results is summarized in terms of metal flow, strain distributions, temperature distributions, forging load, which are essential to over all process design.

Radial, tilting-pad proceeding bearings are applied in high speed rotating machines operating at stable small and mean loads and the peripheral speeds of proceeding reaching 150 m/s. The operation of bearing can be determined by static characteristics including the oil film pressure, temperature and viscosity distributions, minimum oil film thickness, load capacity, power loss, oil flow. The operation of 5-lobe tilted-pad proceeding bearing has been introduced at the assumption of adiabatic oil film. The oil film pressure, temperature and viscosity distributions habe received by iterative solution of the Reynolds', energy and viscosity equations. The resulting oil film force, minimum oil film thickness, power loss. oil flow, maximum oil film pressure, maximum temperature were computed for different sets of bearing geometric parameters as: bearing length to diameter ratio, pad angular length and width as well as pad relative clearance.
Various loads induced by marine environmental conditions, such as waves, currents, and wind, are crucial for the operation and viability of offshore wind power (OWP) systems. In particular, waves have a significant impact on the stress and fatigue load of offshore structures, and highly reliable design parameters should be derived through extreme value analysis (EVA) techniques. In this study, extreme wave analyses were conducted with various Weibull distribution models to determine the reliable design parameters of an OWP system suitable for the Ulsan area. Forty-three years of long-term hindcast data generated by a numerical wave model were adopted as the analyses data, and the least-squares method was used to estimate the parameters of the distribution function for EVA. The inverse first-order reliability method was employed as the EVA technique. The obtained results were compared among themselves under the assumption that the marginal probability distributions were 2p, 3p, and exponentiated Weibull distributions.
The behavior of axially loaded pile was analyzed by two methodologies: one is the finite difference method using load transfer curves recommended by API(1993) , and the other is the numerical analysis using the FLAC program. From both analyses, load-displacement curves and load distributions along the depth were evaluated appropriately for the measured. The analysis using the FLAC could capture the nonlinearity of load-displacement curve even for unloading and reloading cases, since the unloaded stress paths of fill layer elements occurred on the failure envelop. Futhermore, the measured load transfer curves were compared with the API recommendations and with the calculations obtained front the results of the FLAC analysis for the interpretation of the transfer behavior between the soil and the pile under axial loadings. It was concluded that the atrial behavior of open ended piles at Pusan could be evaluated by both the finite difference analysis using API load transfer curves and the numerical analysis using FLAC.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the load distribution and contact safety factor for the power take off (PTO) gear of a 71 kW class agricultural tractor. In this study, a simulation model of the PTO gear-train was developed using Romax DESGINER. The face load factor and contact safety factor were calculated using ISO 6336:2006. The simulation time was set at 2,736 hours considering the lifetime of the tractor, and the simulation was performed for each PTO gear stage at the engine rated power conditions. As a result of the simulation, the face load factors for the driving gear at the PTO 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages were 1.644, 1.632, and 1.341, respectively. The contact safety factors for the driving gear at the PTO 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages were 1.185, 1.216, and 1.458, respectively. As the PTO gear stage was increased, the face load factor decreased, and the contact safety factor increased. The load distributions for all the PTO gears were concentrated to the right of the tooth width. This causes stress concentrations and shortens the lifespan of the gears. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the face load factor and the contact safety factor with macro-geometry and micro-geometry.
