This study explores evaluative linguistic expressions in news reporting about the 2016 general election outcome in Korean newspapers. In particular, we have examined the evaluative linguistic expressions quoted from the three Western news media -New York Times, Washington Post, and BBC, both quantitatively and qualitatively in Korean news stories in order to know how journalists frame the news stories to persuade news consumers to accept their ideologies. This is based on the assumption that quotation can be a tool in conveying ideologies to news consumers (van Dijk, 1988, Jullian, 2011). To achieve this purpose, we selected ten Korean newspapers which included quotations from the news stories of the three Western media and then analyzed the quoted expressions quantitatively and qualitatively. For a qualitative analysis, evaluative linguistic expressions were analyzed to examine the journalistic stances of the Western news stories, following Martin's (2003) appraisal theory. For a quantitative analysis, a word frequency analysis was conducted to figure out the ratio of quoted words to the whole news texts in Korean newspapers. As a result, it was found that the news stories of BBC and Washington Post were more frequently quoted than that of New York Times when journalists conveyed neutral or positive attitude to the election outcome, thus confirming that evaluative linguistic expressions were functionally employed to convey journalists' ideologies or stances to news readers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the health literacy of inpatients at general hospitals. Methods: The sample of this study was 157 inpatients from secondary general hospitals located in a J city during April 1st to April 15th, 2011. The linguistic health literacy was measured by Korean Health Literacy Assessment Tool (KHLAT). The functional health literacy was measured by Korean Functional Health Literacy Test (KFHLT). Results: The mean score of the linguistic health literacy was $36.03{\pm}16.33$ (percent of correct answer: 54.6%). The mean score of the functional health literacy was $9.62{\pm}4.75$ (percent of correct answer: 56.6%). The linguistic and functional health literacy were by age, education level, marital status, socioeconomic status and their health status. There was statistically a significant correlation between the linguistic health literacy and the functional health literacy (r=.75, p<.001). Conclusion: The health literacy of inpatients was strongly related to education level and age. There is a need to develop the educational materials for adjusting the health literacy level of inpatients.

본 연구의 목표는 요즘 선호되는 감성광고의 효과적인 제작을 위하여 소비자 감정에 관한 생리적 반응을 신체 내부 및 외부적으로 분석하고, 이들의 언어적 및 비언어적 발화방법을 제시함으로써 소비자 위주의 감성광고 제작의 기초를 제공해 주는 데 있다. 이 연구에서는 감성광고의 일반론적 고찰과 아울러 소비자 감성에 대한 기호학적 분석의 틀을 제공하며, 이를 기초로 감성광고를 위한 소비자 생리반응의 언어적, 비언어적 발화양상들을 분석하게 된다. 이러한 작업들은 소비자 감성에 호소하는 효율적인 감성광고 제작의 틀을 제시할 것이다.

This case study investigated the assessment and treatment of bilingual children using a 4.5 year old bilingual child. We also compared treatment methods for bilingual children in the U.S. and in Korea, respectively. Given the lack of unbiased assessment tools, it was difficult to evaluate the child properly. In addition, the study of the linguistic characteristics of bilingual children have not been researched extensively in Korea. As a result, there were limitations in assessing the child. However, once all requisite information had been gathered, he was assessed as a bilingual child with specific language impairment (SLI) and his skill in both languages was considered equivalent. During treatment sessions, the child exhibited diverse linguistic characteristics and interesting error patterns which were not evident in monolingual SLI. However, it was difficult to assess whether the error patterns exhibited by the subject were attributable to his own bilingual characteristics or not. This was further complicated by the lack of previous research on the bilingual child's linguistic characteristics. His progress differed from one area to another. Furthermore, we illustrated some of the limitations in assessing bilingual children and proposed several considerations that should be met before treatment is initiated.

본 논문은 수치적인 데이터를 이용하여 시스템을 구성하는 퍼지 모델링에서 각각의 장점들을 유지하면서 순차적으로 성능을 개선하는 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 다양한 퍼지 모델링의 최적화 방법들은 각각의 뛰어난 최적화 기법을 이용하면서도 순차적으로 퍼지 모델의 성능을 개선하려하는 시도는 많지 않았다. 이에 본 논문에서는 각 단계별로 최적의 성능을 구현하고 이를 다음 단계에서 초기로 이용함으로써 퍼지 모델의 성능이 순차적으로 개선되는 것을 제안하였다. 이는 각각의 최적화 기법들을 지속적으로 이용함으로써 원하는 모델의 성능을 개선하고자 하는 것이다. 제안된 방법의 유용성을 Rice taste 데이터 모델에 적용하여 제안된 방법이 이전의 연구보다 좋은 결과를 보임을 알았다.

XML은 기존 HTML의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 새로운 기술로 다양한 응용분야에 활용되고 있으며 많은 응용 제품들이 개발되고 있다. XML편집기, XSL편집기, XML브라우져, XML저장 관리기, XML문서 저장 관리기, XML문서 검색기, XML Conversion Tool등의 다양한 XML응용 프로그램에서 사용할 수 있는 표준 라이브러리 API인 DOM(Document Object Model)과 SAX(Simple API for XML)를 지원하며 XML문서의 모든 구성요소에 대한 처리를 할 수 있는 파서가 요구되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 다양한 응용 프로그램의 요구사항을 분석하고 이를 반영하여 처리할 수 있는 XML Toolkit모델을 제시한다. 본 XML Toolkit은 W3C XML 1.0스펙과 W3C Namespaces in XML스펙과 W3C DOM Level 1스펙을 지원하며 XML사용자 그룹에서 정의한 SAX를 지원한다. 또한 표준 API로 접근할 수 없거나 그 기능이 표준에서 정의되지 않은 추가 기능을 제공하기 위한 XML문서의 내부자료구조를 정의하고 이의 처리를 위한 API를 제공한다.

This study investigates relationships between TOPIK ratings and measures of grammaticality judgement competence in the acquisition of Korean as a second language. Data were collected on the linguistic abilities of learners' at 3 to 6 on the TOPIK scale, focusing on perception in grammar-mostly morphology and syntax, some lexis, and a few of collocation. The results show that (i) proficiency and grammaticality judgement competence show high correlation, (ii) individual accuracy scores correlate strongly with levels on the TOPIK proficiency scale on most linguistic features in the test, and (iii) Japanese speakers outperform Chinese speakers at the same levels of proficiency on most linguistic features. The findings indicate that global proficiency scales like the TOPIK can be deconstructed using grammaticality judgement test that provides detailed measures of learners' control of linguistic features.

In problem solving education, sentence problems are a tool for comprehensive evaluation of mathematical ability. The sentence problems refer to the problem expressed in sentence form rather than simply a numerical representation of mathematical problems. In order to solve sentence problems with a mixture of mathematical terms and general language, problem-solving ability including the ability to understand the meaning of sentences as well as the mathematical computation ability is required. Therefore, it is important to analyze syntactic elements from the linguistic aspects in sentence problems. The purpose of this study is to investigate the complexity of sentence problems in the length of sentences and the grammatical complexity of the sentences in the depth of the sentences by analyzing the 51 sentence problems presented in the $4^{th}$ grade mathematics textbook(2015 revised curriculum). As a result, it was confirmed that it is necessary to examine the length and depth of the sentence more carefully in the teaching and learning of sentence problems. Especially in elementary mathematics, the sentence problems requires a linguistic understanding of the sentence, and therefore it is necessary to consider syntactic elements in the process of developing and teaching sentence problems in mathematics textbook.

양방향 방송 서비스로의 전환을 맞아 다양한 사용자 요구 및 기호에 적합한 컨텐츠를 제공하고, 증가하는 방송 컨텐츠를 효율적으로 관리, 이용하기 위해 비디오의 자동 에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 내용 구성이 잘 갖추어진 어학 교육 비디오의 자동 에 대한 방법을 제안한다. 내용 기반을 자동으로 생성하기 위해 먼저 디지털 비디오로부터 샷 경계를 검출한 후, 각 샷을 대표하는 키프레임으로부터 비주얼 특징들을 추출한다. 그리고 추출된 다중 비주얼 특징을 이용해 어학 교육 비디오의 세분화된 내용 정보를 결정한다. 마지막으로, 결정된 내용 정보를 기술하는 요약문을 MPEG-7 MDS(Multimedia Description cheme)에 정의된 계층적 (Hierarchical Summary) 구조에 맞추어 XML 문서로 생성한다. 외국어 회화 비디오에 대해 실험하여 제안한 자동 방법의 효율성을 검증하였으며, 제안한 방법이 교육 방송용 컨텐츠의 다양한 서비스 제공 및 관리를 위한 비디오 요약 시스템에 효율적으로 적용 가능함을 확인하였다.

기계번역 품질 평가는 중대한 문제이다. 기계번역의 품질이 사용자 요구와 거리가 상당히 있는 현재의 상황에서 기계번역 시스템의 객관적 평가는 기계번역 소프트웨어 사용자와 판매자 간의 신뢰를 구축하고 개발자들 간에 생산적인 경쟁관계를 조성하게 하여 결과적으로 기계번역 품질의 고급화를 지속적으로 유도하는 역할을 할 것이다. 이를 위해서는 특히 언어학적 측면과 자료처리 측면에서 개선이 계속되고 있는지를 확인할 수 있도록 기계번역 시스템의 품질을 평가할 수 있는 연구가 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이런 정들을 고려해 넣은 영한 기계번역의 언어학적 평가 방법을 제시하고 이를 몇 개의 상용 기계번역 시스템을 대상으로 실험하여 실험결과를 보고한다. 이 방법은 기본적으로 언어현상과 학습수준으로 분류된 3.373 영어 문장으로 구성된 평가자료에 기반하고 있다.
