A Study on the Strength of Geotextile and the Influence of Settlement in a Waste Landfill (폐기물 매립지 인공합성 차수재 강도와 침하영향에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the results of the direct shear interface friction test is introduced to understand interface friction between geosynthetic materials that are required for analyzing slope stability of the liner system of waste landfills. Tensile stresses that occur in a liner system due to differential settlement with waste load are estimated using FLAC. It was shown that HDPE/geocomposite inteface friction angle is 11.9$^{\circ}$, HDPE/wastes is 12.0$^{\circ}$ and geotextile/wastes is 28.0$^{\circ}$. Tensile stress due to settlement in a foundation of landfill is well within the limits of tensile strength regulated by waste treatment law.

  • 본 논문에서는 유한요소 프로그램 (ANSYS)을 이용하여 돔격납철판 (dome containment liner plate)의 양중시 좌굴특성의 연구를 수행하였다. 원전 격납철판의 양중시, 양중 와이어(wire)의 구조적인 배치특성상 격납철판에 압축력이 유발되고, 이러한 압축력은 격납철판의 좌굴을 일으킬 수 있다. 다양한 양중인자 (lifting factors)를 고려한 격납철판 유한요소모델을 수립하고, 이러한 양중인자들의 좌굴특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 양중 와이어의 체결위치의 높이가 낮을 수록 좌굴강도가 증가하며, 라이너 플레이트 두께에 비례하여 좌굴강도가 증가하였다.

  • In this paper, various aspects of landfill liners such as guide of liner installation, type of bottom liners and vertical barriers, domestic companies producing and dealing liners, quality assurance and control of liners, are investigated. Although sanitary landfilling of domestic municipal wates has begun at the last decade, we still need to strengthen the regulation for designing and constructing the liner systems and to diversify the types of liners used in the landfills. Technologies of quality control for selecting and installing landfill liners should be improved as soon as possible. In order to develop the technologies and to slove th problems related to landfill liners, more efforts should be taken among the engineers and the agencies who are interested in maintraining safe subsurface environments.

  • Geotextiles are usually constructed as a protective layer of geomembranes in liner systems for the solid waste landfill. A protective layer and geomembrane are susceptible to mechanical damage by coarse grains in the overlying drainage layer. In this study, therefore, the strain behavior of geotextile protective layers was investigated using three different types of devices for developing punctiform loads. The results of the study showed that the rates of strain was different depend upon device types for functiform loads. Also, It was found that the increases in strain was approximately linear in range 20 to 6$0^{\circ}C$ , and pp-filament non-woven geotextiles yielded a better efficiency than pp-staple fiber non-woven geotextiles.

  • A experimental try was conducted for the purpose of establishment of the cast iron modification by the metal spray method. The friction and wear resistance properties of the metal sprayed cast iron surface were evaluated. The application experiment for the cast iron modification by the metal spray method was conducted in order to develope the restoring method of the scrapped cast iron cylinder liner of the marine engine.

  • Multi-layered neural networks offer an exciting alternative for modelling complex non-liner systems. This paper investigates the identification of continuous time nonliner system using neural networks with a single hidden layer. The digital low - pass filter are introduced to avoid direct approximation of system derivatives from sampled data. Using a pre-designed digital low pass filter, an approximated discrete-time estimation model is constructed easily. A continuous approximation liner model is first estimated from sampled input-out signals. Then the modeling error due to the nonlinearity is decreased by a compensator using neural network. Simulation results are given to demonstrate the effective of the proposed method.

  • The Purpose of this study is to improve the deterrent factors in Korea's coastal passenger shipping on the basis of field data collected in order to help stimulate it and enhance its competitiveness. As the representative model of this study, the "P" car-ferry liner was chosen, whereby various deterrent factors were observed in the course of the SWOT analysis and through the questionnaires. The major deterrent factors in summary were inflexible government regulations for additional ship operation, disadvantages of taxes policy, port facility shortages, non-allowing of ship's night operation, complicated and inflexible ship's operation controls by the concerned authorities, unreasonable divisions of steaming areas, and existences of obstacles on the ship's running routes, etc. which considered all are important to activate the liners.

  • This paper aims to propose optimal method to assess and cumulate the daily profit for liner shipping to support the shipping lines in making optimal decision with the highest average daily profit. This paper not only explains the actual calculated results align with decision-makers' behavior from concepts indicated in cumulative prospect theory but also contributes to an easy-to-apply method for liner shipping network predictability in and provides optimal decision-making is helpful for shipping managers for the best effective selection of the most appropriate alternative under uncertainties.
