Let T be a bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. An operator T is called class A operator if ${\left|{T^2}\right|}{\geq}{\left|{T^2}\right|}$ and is called class A(k) operator if $({T^*\left|T\right|^{2k}T})^{\frac{1}{k+1}}{\geq}{\left|T\right|}^2$. In this paper, we show that ${\sigma}$ is continuous when restricted to the set of class A operators and consider the tensor products of class A(k) operators.
Let A ∈ B(X) be a spectral operator on a non-archimedean Banach space over an algebraically closed field. In this note, we give a necessary and sufficient condition on the resolvent of A so that the discrete semigroup consisting of powers of A is uniformly-bounded.
Attention is one of important cognitive functions in human affecting on the selectional concentration of relevant events and ignorance of irrelevant events. The discrimination of attentional and inattentional status is the first step to manage human's attentional capability using computer assisted device. In this paper, we newly combine the non-linear recurrence pattern analysis and spectrum analysis to effectively extract features(total number of 13) from the electroencephalographic signal used in the input to classifiers. The performance of diverse types of attention-inattention classifiers, including supporting vector machine, back-propagation algorithm, linear discrimination, gradient decent, and logistic regression classifiers were evaluated. Among them, the support vector machine classifier shows the best performance with the classification accuracy of 81 %. The use of spectral band feature set alone(accuracy of 76 %) shows better performance than that of non-linear recurrence pattern feature set alone(accuracy of 67 %). The support vector machine classifier with hybrid combination of non-linear and spectral analysis can be used in later designing attention-related devices.

The steady rotating flows in eccentric annulus has been studied by a numerical method based on the spectral collocation method. The inner cylinder has a constant angular velocity while the outer on e is stationary. Flow between eccentric cylinders is of considerable technical importance as it occurs in journal bearings. In the present work, the governing equations for laminar flow are expressed as Navier-Stokes equations, including the non-linear convection terms. The solutions were utilized i, estimate the effects of the nonlinear terms on the load acting on the rotating cylinder. Based on the half and the full Sommerfeld methods, the load on the rotating cylinder is evaluated with eccentricity, by integrating the pressure and skin friction around the cylinder. The attitude angle and Sommerfeld reciprocal are calculated from the load. Also, the torque on the rotating inner cylinder was calculated. considering the skin friction. The attitude angle and Sommerfeld reciprocal are decreased with eccentricity. Viscous damping coefficient due to the skin friction becomes larger with decreasing the annular space. It is found the non-linear effects of the convection terms on the flow and the load are important. especially on the attitude angle, for relatively wide annular configurations however, the effects on those are minor for very narrow annular ones.

The linear SEF (Spectral Edge Frequency) parameter and spectrum analysis method can not reflect the non-linear of EEG. This method can not contribute to acquire real time analysis and obtain a high confidence in the clinic due to low discrimination. To solve the problems, the development of a new index is carried out using the bispectrum analyzing the EEG including the non-linear characteristic. At the bispectrum analysis of the 2 dimension, the most significant's power spectrum density peaks appeared much at the specific area in awake and anesthesia state. Because many peaks are showed at the specific area in the frequency coordinate, these points are used to create the new index. Range of the index is 0-100. At the anesthesia, the index is 20-50 and at the awake, the index is 90-60. New index can discriminate the awake and anesthesia state.

This study was conducted to measure the moisture content of powdered food using RF impedance spectroscopic method. In frequency range of 1.0 to 30㎒, the impedance such as reactance and resistance of parallel plate type sample holder filled with wheat flour and red-pepper powder of which moisture content range were 5.93∼-17.07%w.b. and 10.87 ∼ 27.36%w.b., respectively, was characterized using by Q-meter (HP4342). The reactance was a better parameter than the resistance in estimating the moisture density defined as product of moisture content and bulk density which was used to eliminate the effect of bulk density on RF spectral data in this study. Multivariate data analyses such as principal component regression, partial least square regression and multiple linear regression were performed to develop one calibration model having moisture density and reactance spectral data as parameters for determination of moisture content of both wheat flour and red-pepper powder. The best regression model was one by the multiple linear regression model. Its performance for unknown data of powdered food was showed that the bias, standard error of prediction and determination coefficient are 0.179% moisture content, 1.679% moisture content and 0.8849, respectively.
We have investigated the spectral properties of DNA, including its electric absorption, circular and linear dichroism (CD and LD), and fluorescence emission, in the DNA-linear polyethyleneimine (LPEI) and DNA-branched polyethyleneimine (BPEI) complexes at various polymer concentrations. The spectral properties of both complexes are similar. We observed a relatively moderate change in the absorption and CD spectra at low amine/DNA phosphate (NIP) ratios (< 0.5), followed by a drastic collapse within the N/P range from 0.8 and 1.0. The absorption and CD spectra recovered as the N/P ratio increased to ca. 1.2. In contrast, the LD and emission of ethidium intercalated between the DNA bases decreased almost linearly at N/P ratios between 0.0 and 1.0. These spectra never recovered at higher N/P ratios. We believe that the moderate changes in the spectrum at low N/P ratios occurred because of electrostatic interactions between DNA and BPEI, while the collapsed spectra at N/P ratios between 0.5 and 1.5 occurred because of condensation/aggregation of the DNA. Considering the structure of the polymers, we suggest that the secondary amino group of LPEI and all three amino groups of BPEI are equally involved in DNA condensation.
A bounded linear operator T on a complex Banach space X is said to have property (I) provided that T has Bishop's property (${\beta}$) and there exists an integer p > 0 such that for a closed subset F of ${\mathbb{C}}$${X_T}(F)={E_T}(F)=\bigcap_{{\lambda}{\in}{\mathbb{C}}{\backslash}F}(T-{\lambda})^PX$ for all closed sets $F{\subseteq}{\mathbb{C}}$, where $X_T$(F) denote the analytic spectral subspace and $E_T$(F) denote the algebraic spectral subspace of T. Easy examples are provided by normal operators and hyponormal operators in Hilbert spaces, and more generally, generalized scalar operators and subscalar operators in Banach spaces. In this paper, we prove that if T has property (I), then the quasi-nilpotent part $H_0$(T) of T is given by $$KerT^P=\{x{\in}X:r_T(x)=0\}={\bigcap_{{\lambda}{\neq}0}(T-{\lambda})^PX$$ for all sufficiently large integers p, where ${r_T(x)}=lim\;sup_{n{\rightarrow}{\infty}}{\parallel}T^nx{\parallel}^{\frac{1}{n}}$. We also prove that if T has property (I) and the spectrum ${\sigma}$(T) is finite, then T is algebraic. Finally, we prove that if $T{\in}L$(X) has property (I) and has decomposition property (${\delta}$) then T has a non-trivial invariant closed linear subspace.

Spectrally resolved interferometry (SRI) is an attractive technique to measure absolute distances without any moving components. In the spectral interferogram obtained by a spectrometer, the optical path difference (OPD) can simply be extracted from the linear slope of the spectral phase. However, SRI has a fundamental measuring range limitation due to maximum and minimum measurable distances. In addition, SRI cannot distinguish the OPD direction because the spectral interferogram is in the form of a natural sinusoidal function. In this investigation, we describe a direction determining SRI and propose the optimal conditions for determining OPD direction. Spectral phase nonlinearity, caused by a dispersive material, effects OPD direction but deteriorates spectral interferogram visibility. In the experiment, various phase nonlinearities were measured by adjusting the dispersive material (BK7) thickness. We observed the interferogram visibility and the possibility of direction determination. Based on the experimental results, the optimal dispersion conditions are provided to distinguish OPD directions of SRI.
Noise band removal is a crucial step before spectral matching since the noise bands can distort the typical shape of spectral reflectance, leading to degradation on the matching results. This paper proposes a statistical noise band removal method for hyperspectral data using the correlation coefficient between two bands. The correlation coefficient measures the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two random variables. Considering each band of the hyperspectral data as a random variable, the correlation between two signal bands is high; existence of a noisy band will produce a low correlation due to ill-correlativeness and undirected ness. The unsupervised k-nearest neighbor clustering method is implemented in accordance with three well-accepted spectral matching measures, namely ED, SAM and SID in order to evaluate the validation of the proposed method. This paper also proposes a hierarchical scheme of combining those measures. Finally, a separability assessment based on the between-class and the within-class scatter matrices is followed to evaluate the applicability of the proposed noise band removal method. Also, the paper brings out a comparison for spectral matching measures. The experimental results conducted on a 228-band hyperspectral data show that while the SAM measure is rather resistant, the performance of SID measure is more sensitive to noise.
