마이크로버스트를 통과하는 비행기의 안전착륙을 위한 자동조종장치 (Autopilot for Safe Landing in the Microburst)

  • A state feedback controller and an observer have been developed and analyzed for an aircraft's safe landing in the windshear called microburst. The observer estimates the ambient wind field as well as the full-order longitudinal state vector. The controller uses the wind and state estimates for guiding the control inputs for safe landing. For the observer and controller gains, the design methodologies of linear quadratic estimation and linear quadratic regulation have been exploited. Analysis shows that some of the microburst-induced aircraft accidents in the past might have been avoided with the designed autopilot.

Linear Quadratic Regulation and Tracking using Output Feedback with Direct Feedthrough

  • This paper presents the development of linear quadratic regulation and output tracking algorithms using output feedback when both the measurement and performance output equations contain direct feedthrough terms. Although all physical systems can be modeled without direct feedthrough, there are still many situations where system models with direct feedthrough are important. For this situation, we modify previous work on the same topic for systems without direct feedthrough. It is shown that for the regulation problem, the optimal output feedback gain for a direct feedthrough case can be directly obtained, via a transformation, from the approach used for systems without direct feedthrough. However, for the tracking problem, a new set of coupled matrix equations for determining the optimal output feedback gain is derived from the necessary conditions for minimizing the cost function. The effectiveness of the developed algorithms is demonstrated using numerical examples.

  • The regulator problem can be considered as some impulsive disturbance rejection one. In this point of view, the rate of decay is one of important factors for regulation and depends on how negative the real parts of the eigenvalues of closed-loop system. The algorithm that the closed-loop system has eigenvalues lying within a vertical. strip is useful for rapid disturbance rejection. This paper presents a design method for a linear quadratic regulator of two-time scale system with eigenvalues in a vertical strip by use of time-scale separation property.

  • 본 논문에서는 배전 계통에서 전압 파형 개선을 위하여 배전용 정지형 보상기(DSTATCOM)의 제어 기법 2가지를 보였다. 1선 지락 사고 시에 제시한 방법을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 선로 전압 파형이 개선됨을 알 수 있다. 또한 비제어 및 PI 제어와 LQR 제어를 비교하였다. 요구되는 응답 특성 및 제어 효과에서 LQR 제어가 우수함을 보이고 PSCAD/EMTDC을 이용하여 검증하였다.

Capacity design by developed pole placement structural control

  • To ensure safety and long term performance, structural control has rapidly matured over the past decade into a viable means of limiting structural responses to strong winds and earthquakes. Nonlinear response history analysis requires rigorous procedure to compute seismic demands. Therefore the simplified nonlinear analysis procedures are useful to determine performance of the structure. In this investigation, application of improved capacity demand diagram method in the control of structural system is presented for the first time. Developed pole assignment method (DPAM) in structural systems control is introduced. Genetic algorithm (GA) is employed as an optimization tool for minimizing a target function that defines values of coefficient matrices providing the placement of actuators and optimal control forces. The ground acceleration is modified under induced control forces. Due to this, performance of structure based on improved nonlinear demand diagram is selected to threshold of nonlinear behavior of structure. With small energy consumption characteristics, semi-active devices are especially attractive solutions for limiting earthquake effects. To illustrate the efficiency of DPAM, a 30-story steel moment frame structure employing the semi-active control devices is applied. In comparison to the widely used linear quadratic regulation (LQR), the DPAM controller was shown to be just as effective and better in the reduction of structural responses during large earthquakes.

  • Q-learning은 강화학습의 한 방법으로서, 여러 분야에 널리 응용되고 있는 기법이다. 최근에는 Linear Quadratic Regulation (이하 LQR) 문제에 성공적으로 적용된 바 있다. 특히 시스템 모델의 파라미터에 대한 구체적인 정보가 없는 상태에서 적절한 입력과 출력만을 가지고, 학습을 통해 문제를 해결할 수 있어서 상황에 따라서 매우 실용적인 대안이 될 수 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 이러한 일반적인 LQR Q-learning(이하 LQRQL) 학습방법에 퍼지 모델을 이용하여 제어기를 설계하는 방법을 고려하고, 일반적인 LQROL 기법과 본 논문에서 제시한 방법의 결과를 비교하여 응용 가능성을 살펴보았다.

A semi-active acceleration-based control for seismically excited civil structures including control input impulses

  • Structural acceleration regulation is a means of managing structural response energy and enhancing the performance of civil structures undergoing large seismic events. A quadratic output regulator that minimizes a measure including the total structural acceleration energy is developed and tested on a realistic non-linear, semi-active structural control case study. Suites of large scaled earthquakes are used to statistically quantify the impact of this type of control in terms of changes in the statistical distribution of controlled structural response. This approach includes the impulses due to control inputs and is shown to be more effective than a typical displacement focused control approach, by providing equivalent or better performance in terms of displacement and hysteretic energy reductions, while also significantly reducing peak story accelerations and the associated damage and occupant injury. For earthquake engineers faced with the dilemma of balancing displacement and acceleration demands this control approach can significantly reduce that concern, reducing structural damage and improving occupant safety.

결빙된 전기체 헬리콥터의 비행성 향상을 위한 강인 제어 설계 (Robust Control Design for Handling Quality Improvement of Iced Full-scale Helicopter)

  • 악천후나 기계적 결함에 의한 비행성(Handling Qualities) 저하는 그 상황에 익숙하지 못한 조종사에게 치명적인 위험을 줄 수 있다. 특히 결빙의 경우에는 실제로 사고가 빈번하게 일어나는 원인인 만큼 중요하게 고려해야 할 사안이다. 대다수의 기존 연구들은 결빙에 따른 공기역학적 성능 변화와 그에 따른 모델링 방법을 제시하거나 결빙을 방지하는 방법을 주로 다루었으나, 본 연구에서는 전기체(full-scale) 헬리콥터에 발생하는 결빙으로 인한 비행 성능 저하를 능동적으로 보상하는 비행제어기를 설계하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 UH-60 헬리콥터에 발생하는 결빙으로 인한 비행성 저하를 CONDUIT이라는 프로그램을 통해 보이고, 이러한 비행성 저하를 보상하기 위해 RS-LQR(Robust Servomechanism Linear Quadratic Regulation) 기법을 사용한 강인 제어기를 설계하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 강인 제어기가 헬리콥터가 결빙된 상황에서도 Level 1 비행성을 유지하는 것을 보였다.

  • A rotary double inverted pendulum, the nonlinear system has a regulation problem. In this paper, we linearize the nonlinear system at the upright equilibrium position. The linearized system can be expressed in state space. To maintain the upright position, we design a feedback controller using LQR(Linear Quadratic Regulator) algorithm. Then we simulate the system with third-order Adams Bashforth Moulton Method. The simulated result shows that the applied algorithm is effective for the regulation problem.
