Finding line segments in an intensity image has been one of the most fundamental issues in computer vision. In complex scenes, it is hard to detect the locations of point features. Line features are more robust in providing greater positional accuracy. In this paper we present a robust "line features extraction" algorithm which extracts line feature in a single pass without using any assumptions and constraints. Our algorithm consists of five steps: (1) edge scanning, (2) edge normalization, (3) line-blob extraction, (4) line-feature computation, and (5) line linking. By using edge scanning, the computational complexity due to too many edge pixels is drastically reduced. Edge normalization improves the local quantization error induced from the gradient space partitioning and minimizes perturbations on edge orientation. We also analyze the effects of edge processing, and the least squares-based method and the principal axis-based method on the computation of line orientation. We show its efficiency with some real images.al images.

Line sleeves, which used to connect ACSR cables when transmission lines were constructing, sometimes cause power transmission failure due to deterioration and corrosion. Therefore, power transmission line should be inspected regularly to prevent national disaster. Current inspection tool detects insertion length of transmission line on line sleeves, the inspection tool includes enormous error by operator. Moreover, the system is not controlled remotely, negligent accident would be caused while inspecting. To deal with those problems, KEPCO reviewed several ways to inspect line sleeves and proposes new method to inspect line sleeve by measuring magnetic flex which penetrate junction of steel and aluminum sleeve. The developed inspection tool is reliable enough to detect eccentric sleeves. Also, the developed inspection device was applied on actual transmission line and verified its effectiveness.

In order to keep production balance at a mixed-model assembly line and a painting line, large WIP(Work- In-Process) inventories are required between two lines. To increase the efficiency of line handling through reducing the inventories under this circumstance, this paper concerns with a sequencing problem for a mixed-model assembly line that includes a painting line where the uncertain elements regarding the defective products exist. Then, we formulate a new type of the sequencing problem minimizing the line stoppage time and the idle time with forecasting the supply time of the products from the painting line. Finally, we examine the effectiveness of the proposed sequencing through computer simulations.

An efficient descent method for unconstrained optimization problems is line search method in which the step size is required to choose at each iteration after a descent direction is determined. There are many ways to choose the step sizes, such as the exact line search, Armijo line search, Goldstein line search, and Wolfe line search, etc. In this paper we propose a new inexact line search for a general descent method and establish some global convergence properties. This new line search has many advantages comparing with other similar inexact line searches. Moreover, we analyze the global convergence and local convergence rate of some special descent methods with the new line search. Preliminary numerical results show that the new line search is available and efficient in practical computation.

As a basic study to improve hooking ability of long line fishing gear, which is widely used around Jeju-do coast, the researcher performed hooking experiment of parrot fish by manufacturing and installing 7 kinds of model long line fishing gears, whose thickness of branch line are different and 8 kinds of model long line fishing gear, whose length of branch line are different, in indoor circular aquarium, which is installed for the model experiment of thickness and length of branch line that are various by fishing implement and improper. The hooking rate depending on thickness and length of branch line was calculated and the effect of thickness and length of branch line on hooking rate was analyzed. Its results are as follows. When branch line was thin and long, high hooking rate appeared. In the scope of value setting, the relationship between thickness ($B_t$) of branch line and total hooking rate ($Th_r$) can be shown as following formula as. In the scope of value setting, the relationship between length ($B_t$) of branch line and total hooking rate ($B_t$) can be shown as $Th_r=-20.83B_t+26.04$. Through Pearson correlation analysis, the coefficient of correlation between thickness of branch line and hooking rate was -0.718. Therefore it showed significance in 0.01 significance level. Through Pearson correlation analysis, the coefficient of correlation between length of branch line and hooking rate was 0.431. Therefore it showed significance in 0.01 significance level.

The purposes of this study were to investigate factors affecting addictive shopping behavior and to compare the factors affecting between on-line and off-line addictive shopping. Four hundred eighty-nine female college students who have purchased fashion goods on-line shopping or off-line shopping were surveyed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations, t-test, and multiple regression analysis were used. As the results, 15.5% of respondents were revealed as addictive buyers. Approximately 18% and 13% of subjects were revealed as on-line addictive buyers and off-line addictive buyers. There were statistically significant differences between addictive buyers and non-addictive buyers regarding self-mastery, depression, stress, and impulse. Addictive consumption scores were correlated to lower self-mastery, higher depression, and higher stress. Factors such as self-mastery, stress, impulse showed differences between on-line and off-line addictive buyers. Also, there were statistically significant differences between on-line and off-line addictive buyers. Based on these results, fashion social responsibility marketing strategies and implications regarding on-line and off-line shopping addiction would be suggested.

This study explores the differences in product evaluation and approach behaviors as well as the effects of product evaluation on approach behaviors of utilitarian and hedonic products in on-line and off-line settings. A total of 332 subjects participated in the experiments to assess product evaluation and approach behaviors for utilitarian and hedonic clothing products in on-line and off-line settings. The results show that even though the same stimulus was presented, consumers' product evaluation of utilitarian clothing (i.e., t-shirts) was higher in the off-line setting than in the on-line setting while the approach behavior of hedonic clothing was better in the on-line setting than in the off-line setting. In addition, color was a crucial factor generating positive approach behaviors for utilitarian clothing while style and quality were core factors influencing the approach behaviors of hedonic products in an on-line setting. There was no consistency in the results of the important factors affecting approach behaviors of utilitarian and hedonic clothing in an off-line setting. The conclusion suggests implications for marketing based upon the results of this study.

Partial discharge(PD) test can be performed either when the rotating machine is not operating(off-line) or during normal machine operation(on-line). This paper presents an on-line and off-line PD test on a large hydro-generator and induction motor using the same PD acquisition system(PDAS) and ceramic coupler(CC) sensor. PD signal characteristics of CC sensor proved similar with that of epoxy mica coupler(EMC) sensor as a results of PD test for simulated defect winding and frequency response test. A comparison of on-line and off-line PD test for PD characteristic parameters-phase resolved PD(PRPD), maximum PD value(Qmax) and PD occurrence energy(POE)-indicated that on-line PD test could reliably and effectively diagnose insulation conditions which were verified by off-line PD test.

The purpose of this study was to classify the In-line skate clothing interest of in-line skaters according to in-line skate involvement. The questionnaire was administrated to 124 male, 96 female in-line skaters aged over 20 living in Daegu. Data were analyzed by using Frequency, Factor analysis, One-way analysis of variance, Duncan test, T-test, Correlation analysis. The results of this study can be summarized as follows ; The factor of in-line skate clothing interest of in-line skater were classified into 5 factor, expression orientation, performance enhancement, information dependence, anti deviation, individual assertion. The in-line skate clothing interest, men have interests in performance enhancement, women have interest in individual assertion. The more experience of in-line skate they have. the more interest in performance enhancement they want. High involvement in-line skater have high cloth interesting of sub-factors which are expression orientation, performance enhancement and individual assertion etc. As a result, we need more deliberate marketing strategies for the experience degree, involvement degree and women in-line skater then men.

The advantages of implementing a virtual channel can be derived from the notion of the 'death of distance' that would result from electronic commerce. According to this view, the internet was going to make distance irrelevant, in that firms would no longer need to establish a physical presence in a geographical location in order to do business there. However, on-line firms selling physical products could take advantages of presence in the related off-line(brick and mortar) industrial area. This paper developed a conceptual framework that highlights the various types of synergies by location on-line businesses in the related off-line industrial area. Using data from 96 on-line ventures selling physical products, factor analysis was used to figuring out six synergies including improved customer trust, value-added service, cost savings, personnel and organizational efficiency, sharing products and customer information, relationship with suppliers, and relationship with local government. The six empirically derived critical synergy factors were then used to examine how they improve performance of the on-line ventures measured by Balanced Scorecard(BSC). According to lthe results, we concluded that the on-line firms selling physical products can take advantages of presence in the related off-line industrial area.
