  • We want to show that the construct of best fuzzy tests for certain fuzzy situations of Poisson distribution. Due to Neyman and Pearson theorem, if we have ${\theta}_0$ and ${\theta}_1$ be distinct fuzzy values of ${\Omega}=\{{\theta}\;:\;{\theta}\;=\;{\theta}_0,\;{\theta}_1\}$ such that $L({\theta}_0\;:\;X)/L({\theta}_1\;:\;X)$ < k, then k is a fuzzy number. For each fuzzy random samples point $X\;{\subset}\;C$, we have most power test for fuzzy critical region C by agreement index.

  • A hierarchical loglinear model comparison method is developed which is based on the well kmown partitioned likelihood ratio statistiss. For any paels, we can regard the difference of the geedness of fit statistics as the variation explained by a full model, and develop a partial test to compare a full model with a reduced model in that hierarchy. Note that this has similar arguments as that of the regression analysis.

  • Classification of subjects with unknown distribution in small sample size setup may involve order-restricted constraints in multivariate parameter setups. Those problems makes optimality of conventional likelihood ratio based statistical inferences not feasible. Fortunately, Roy (1953) introduced union-intersection principle(UIP) which provides an alternative avenue. Redescending M-estimator along with that principle yields a considerably appropriate robust testing procedure. Furthermore, conditionally distribution-free test based upon exact permutation theory is used to generate p-values, even in small sample. Applications of this method are illustrated in simulated data and read data example (Lobenhofer et al., 2002)

  • We searched out in the votes data of the State of Florida at presidential election 2000. We used a multivariate regression analysis. We got there were several outliers including Palm Beach County. It means that we should analyze the number of disqualified ballots which were double-punched as well as the votes, to insist the " Butterfly Ballot" made Palm Beach outlier.

  • Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonograph and fine-needle aspiration cytologic examination (USG-FNAC) in the staging of axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer patients. Methods: We conducted an electronic search of the literature addressing the performance of USG-FNAC in diagnosis of axillary lymph node metastasis in databases such as Pubmed, Medline, Embase, Ovid and Cochrane library. We introduced a series of diagnostic test indices to evaluate the performance of USG-FNAC by the random effect model (REM), including sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios, and diagnostic odds ratios and area under the curve (AUC). Results: A total of 20 studies including 1371 cases and 1289 controls were identified. The pooled sensitivity was determined to be 0.66 (95% CI 0.64-0.69), specificity 0.98 (95% CI 0.98-0.99), positive likelihood ratio 22.7 (95% CI 15.0-34.49), negative likelihood ratio 0.32 (95% CI 0.25-0.41), diagnostic OR 84.2 (95% CI 53.3-133.0). Due to the marginal threshold effect found in some indices of diagnostic validity, we used a summary SROC curve to aggregate data, and obtained a symmetrical curve with an AUC of 0.942. Conclusion: The results of this meta-analysis indicated that the USG-FNAC techniques have acceptable diagnostic validity indices and can be used for early staging of axillary lymph node in breast cancer patients.

  • For the practical isolated word recognition system, the ability to reject the out-of -vocabulary(OOV) is required. In this paper, we present a rejection method which uses the clustered phoneme modeling combined with postprocessing by likelihood ratio scoring. Our baseline speech recognition system was based on the whole-word continuous HMM. And 6 clustered phoneme models were generated using statistical method from the 45 context independent phoneme models, which were trained using the phonetically balanced speech database. The test of the rejection performance for speaker independent isolated words recogntion task on the 22 section names shows that our method is superior to the conventional postprocessing method, performing the rejection according to the likelihood difference between the first and second candidates. Furthermore, this clustered phoneme models do not require retraining for the other isolated word recognition system with different vocabulary sets.

  • This paper suggests a new criterion for testing the general linear hypothesis about coefficients in multivariate growth curve model. It is developed from a Bayesian point of view using the highest posterior density region methodology. Likelihood ratio test criterion(LRTC) by Khatri(1966) results as an approximate special case. It is shown that under the simple case of vague prior distribution for the multivariate normal parameters a LRTC-like criterion results; but the degrees of freedom are lower, so the suggested test criterion yields more conservative test than is warranted by the classical LRTC, a result analogous to that of Berger and Sellke(1987). Moreover, more general(non-vague) prior distributions will generate a richer class of tests than were previously available.

  • In this research, we compare the efficiency of two test procedures proposed by Prentice and Gloeckler (1978) and Park and Hong (2009) for grouped data with possible right censored observations. Both test statistics were derived using the likelihood ratio principle, but under different semi-parametric models. We review the two statistics with asymptotic normality and consider obtaining empirical powers through a simulation study. The simulation study considers two types of models the location translation model and the scale model. We discuss some interesting features related to the grouped data and obtain null distribution functions with a re-sampling method. Finally we indicate topics for future research.
