Engineering Characteristics of Filling Materials using Lightweight Foamed Concrete (경량콘크리트를 사용한 충전용 재료의 공학적 특성)

  • In this study, the base mixing ratio was determinated to estimate the optimal mixing ratio of material with a change of mixing ratio of micro cement, sand, foaming agent, plasticizer by testing the unconfined compressive strength test. The unconfined compressive strength test was performed to grasp a engineering characteristics of with a change of micro cement, bubble. The results of test, the unconfined compressive strength increased with a micro cement's increase and bubble's decrease. In the future, it will be secured that is reliable datas from laboratory of various condition and in-situ tests to develop optimal lightweight foamed concrete.

  • The purpose of this study is recycling of sewage sludge and fly-ash. In this experiment, green aggregates, which is a mixture of sewage sludge and clay and fly-ash, with different content of sewage sludge (up to $80wt\%$). Then they were burned in different soak temperatures from $1190^{\circ}C\;to\;1290^{\circ}C$ with changed soak time and heating rate at 5, 7, 10 minutes and $20^{\circ}C/min$, $30^{\circ}C/min$ respectively in order to produce lightweight aggregate (LWA). Data of both experiment series were generated to evaluate the quality of LWA as well as the relationship between burning condition and product's quality.

  • Recently, it is certain that the increase of heating and cooling energy consumption by radical change in climate condition has caused serious problems related to environmental and energy concerns associated with increase of fossil fuel usage and carbon dioxide production as well as global warming. Therefore, various actions to reduce greenhouse gas and energy consumption have been prepared by world developed countries. The energy consumption by buildings approximately reaches 25% of total korea energy consumption. The greatest part in the buildings of the energy consumption is building facade. But a few research projects on concrete comprising more than 70% of outsider of buildings has been tried. This research is structural insulation concrete what improved insulation performance using micro form admixture and calcined diatomite powder and lightweight aggregate.

A Study on the Strength, Drying Shrinkage and Carbonation Properties of Lightweight Aggregate Mortar with Recycling Water (회수수를 사용한 경량골재 모르타르의 강도, 건조수축 및 중성화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to compare and analyze the strength, drying shrinkage and carbonation properties of lightweight aggregate mortar using recycling water as prewetting water and mixing water. The flow, compressive strength, split tensile strength, drying shrinkage and carbonation depth of lightweight aggregate mortar with recycling water were measured. As test results, the mortar flow was similar in all mixes regardless of the recycling water content. The compresseive strength of the RW5 mix with 5% recycling water as prewetting water and mixing water was the highest value, about 53.9 MPa after 28 days. In addition, the tensile strength of lightweight mortar was about 3.4 to 3.8 MPa, indicating 7 to 9% of the compressive strength value regardless of recycling water content. In the case of drying shrinkage, the RW2.5 mix using 2.5% recycling water showed the lowest shrinkage rate as about 0.107% at 56 days. The drying shrinkage of the plain mix without recycling water was relatively higher than the RW2.5 and RW5 mix. The RW5 mix showed lowest carbonation depth compared to other mixes. In this study, the RW5 lightweight aggregate mortar with 5% recycling water exhibits excellent compressive strength and carbonation resistance. Therefore, it is considered that if the recycling water, a by-product of the concrete industry, is properly used as prewetting water and mixing water of lightweight mortar and concrete, it will be possible to increase the recycling rate of the by-product and contribute to improve the property of lightweitht aggregate mortar and concrete.

  • As spreading of train concrete ballast leads to the increase resounding friction noise, an porous sound absorbing block is applied in urban train tunnel as a counterparts against the friction noise. Three steps of major variables tests for an optimal mix design of the block are conducted to pursue the light weight of the block. Pilot property tests of the block for the cases of the fly-ash only as lightweight aggregates are carried satisfying KRT(Korean Rail Transit) and new KRS(Korean Railway Standards). Based on the results of pilot tests, required structural strength and admixture effects are evaluated. Additionally, typical lightweight aggregates are replaced so that lightweight and strength are improved for serviceability of poor working conditions and proper maintenance in urban train tunnel.

  • This study performed to develope the concrete using artificial lightweight aggregate(LWA) which contains stabilized heavy metal from EAF -dust. L W A is very effective to stabilize the heavy metal EAF-dust satisfied the general physical properties of aggregate except a absorptivity.   • The prediction of effective properties of heterogeneous material like concrete is of primary importance in design or analysis. This paper os about micromechanice-based evaluation of elastic moduli of concretes considering composite material behavior. In this study, micromechanixe-based schemes for the effective elastic modui of the lightweight foamed concrete and the normal concrete are proposed based on averaging techniques using a single-layered inclusion model and a multi-phase and multi-layered inclusion model. respectively, For the verification's sake, elastic moduli evaluated in this study are compared with experimental data and results by existing formula.
