Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanical properties of several dual-cure cements by different curing modes. Materials and Methods: One resin-modified glass ionomer cement (FujiCEM 2), two conventional dual-cure resin cements (RelyX ARC, Multilink N), and two dual-cure self-adhesive resin cements (RelyX U200, G-CEM LinkAce) were used. To evaluate the influence of the curing methods, each cements divided into four conditions (n = 20); Condition 1: self-curing for 10 minutes, Condition 2: immediate after 20 seconds light-curing, Condition 3: 24 hours after self-curing, Condition 4: 24 hours after light-curing. The compressive strength and diametral tensile strength were measured with a universal testing machine. All data were statistically analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe's test. Results: The results showed the compressive strength and diametral tensile strength after 24 hours in all curing modes were higher than immediate except RelyX ARC light-cured and Multilink N light-cured. The FujiCEM 2 showed lowest values (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The outcome was cement-depend, but there is no significant difference about compressive strength and diametral tensile strength between dual-cure self-adhesive resin cements and conventional resin cements. And this result will be used as a base line data selecting resin cement for favorable long-term prognosis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate flexural strength, composite surface and fractured surface of three different indirect composite resins. Methods: Fifteen bar-shaped specimens ($25mm{\times}2mm{\times}2mm$) were fabricated for each FL group (Flow type and Light curing) and PLP group (Putty type and Light, Pressure curing) and PL group (Putty type and Light curing) according to manufacturer's instructions and ISO 10477. Fabricated specimens were stored in the distilled water for 24 hours at the temperature of $37^{\circ}C$. Three-point bending strength test was performed to measure flexural strength using universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1mm/min (ISO 10477). Surface and fractured surface of specimens were observed by digital microscope. Results were analyzed with Kruskal-wallis tests (${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: Mean (SD) of three different indirect composite resins were 83.38 (6.67) MPa for FL group, 139.90(16.53) MPa for PLP group and 171.72(16.74) MPa for PL group. Flexural strength were statistically significant (p<0.05). Differences were not observed at fractured surface among three groups. However, many pores over $100{\mu}m$ were observed at PL group in observing surface of specimen. Conclusion: Flexural strength of composite resins was affected by second polymerization method and content of inorganic filler.
The clinical performance of light polymerized composite resins is greatly influenced by the quality of the light curing unit used. Commonly used halogen light curing units(LCUs) have some specific drawbacks such as decreasing light output with time. To overcome this, the blue LED LCUs are newly developed and introduced. The purpose of this study was to observe the reaction kinetics and the degree of polymerization of composite resins when cured by different light sources and to evaluate the effectiveness of the blue LED LCUs compared with conventional halogen LCUs.(omitted)
PURPOSE. A new light curing urethane dimethacrylate and a cold curing resin with simpler and faster laboratory procedures may have even improved flexural properties. This study investigated the 3-point flexural strengths and flexural moduli of two alternate base materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A cold curing resin (Weropress) and a light curing urethane dimethacrylate base material (Eclipse). Along with Eclipse and Weropress, a high impact resin (Lucitone199) and three conventional base materials (QC 20, Meliodent and Paladent 20) were tested. A 3-point bending test was used to determine the flexural strengths and flexural moduli. The mean displacement, maximum load, flexural modulus and flexural strength values and standard deviations for each group were analyzed by means of one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) (with mean difference significant at the 0.05 level). Post hoc analyses (Scheffe test) were carried out to determine the differences between the groups at a confidence level of 95%. RESULTS. Flexural strength, displacement and force maximum load values of Eclipse were significantly different from other base materials. Displacement values of QC 20 were significantly different from Lucitone 199 and Weropress. CONCLUSION. The flexural properties and simpler processing technique of Eclipse system presents an advantageous alternative to conventional base resins and Weropress offers another simple laboratory technique.

Due to the various reason, sealing of pit & fissure might be imperfect. One of these reason can be the fracture of sealant material because of the low hardness value of sealing material. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the microhardness of two different curing type pit and fissure sealants: Dual-cure and Light-cure. The result from the present study can be summarized as follows: 1. All pit and fissure sealants that used in this study showed statistically significant difference in their microhardness of upper and lower surface. (P <0.05) 2. Except of lower surface of teethmate, microhardness of 40-second curing sealant was statistically higher than that of 20-second curing sealant. (P <0.05) 3. In comparison of sealants, microhardness of dual-cure sealant was statistically higher than that of light-cure sealant. Above results suggest that the use of dual-cure sealant and longer curing time are recommended.

The purpose of this study was to compare curing efficiency of newly developed curing units to traditional halogen curing unit by measuring thermal change and surface microhardness according to curing light system. Materials and mathods : The types of curing units were traditional low intensity halogen light(Optilux 360), plasma arc light(Flipo), low heat plasma arc light(Aurys), low intensity LED(Starlight), and high intensity LED(Freelight2). Temperature at the tip of light guide was measured by a digital thermometer using K-type thermocouple. And after resin was filled to 2, 3, 4mm teflon mold, bottom temperature measured during curing. After 24 hours, microhardness of top surface and bottom surface of each resin specimen were measured. Results : The result of this study can be summarized as follows, 1. As measuring temperature of curing unit tips, Flipo is the highest as $52.4^{\circ}C,\;Freelight2(37.86^{\circ}C),\;Optilux360(32.68^{\circ}C),\;Aurys(32.34^{\circ}C),\;and\;Starlight(26.14^{\circ}C)$ were followed. 2. Flipo and Freelight2 were the highest similarly and Optilux360 and Aurys were similarly next and Starlight was lowest in temperature of bottom surface of resin mold. 3. Microhardness of top surface were generally similar, and Aurys was relatively low. 4. Optilux 360 and Freelight2 were the highest, and Flipo, Starlight, and Aurys were followed in microhardness of bottom surface. Conclusions : The results suggest that careful use of Flipo and Freelight2 might be able to cure greater depth of resin composite and do not cause thermal problems than other curing units.

We investigated the curing properties of cured coatings for a multi-focal UV-LED. The coatings are for LEDs that operate at multiple UV wavelengths, unlike conventional single-wavelength UV-LEDs. Using UV-LED light sources with wavelengths of 365, 395, 420, and 450 nm, we analyzed the optical characteristics such as the direction of light flux and light source. We also analyzed the curing characteristics at each UV-LED wavelength to optimize the LED for composite wavelengths. The curing performance state was predicted through computer simulation for when the multiple wavelengths of UV light sources are superimposed, and then actual LEDs were designed and fabricated. To improve the internal high-speed curing, a multi-spot module was fabricated, in which each LED is condensed, and multiple wavelengths are synthesized and condensed at the same position. The adhesive strength, surface hardness, and internal hardness of the curing agent were tested by varying the wavelength combination conditions. The surface hardening and internal hardening were compared and analyzed using a hardness tester and FT-IR analyzer. As a result, the characteristics of the surface and internal hardness were improved by a multi-spot method in which four wavelengths were overlapped in a UV-LED rather than a single wavelength.

The purposes of this study were to evaluate the microleakage of class V composite resin restorations utilizing the different curing lights, to assess the flowable resin, $Filtek^{TM}Flow$(3M Dental Products, USA) and composite resin, $Filtek^{TM}Z250$(3M Dental Products, USA) which need 20s curing time for halogen light could replace $Z100^{TM}$ Restorative(3M Dental Products, USA) for the microleakage, and to evaluate the effect of adhesive resin on marginal microleakage. Light curing units used in this study were conventional halogen light, XL3000(3M Dental Products, USA) and plasma arc light, Flipo(Lokki, France). Class V cavities were prepared and each cavity was filled with each composite resin. After being filled, the teeth were stored in distilled water, polished, thermocycled and soaked in 1% methylene blue solution. Following results were obtained from evaluation of the sectioned surface. 1. There was no statistically significant difference in microleakage of $Filtek^{TM}Flow$ and $Filk^{TM}Z250$ between two kinds of curing units(p>0.05). 2. Flowable resin, $Filtek^{TM}Flow$ showed more microleakage than Z100 and $Filtek^{TM}Z250$ regardless of curing units(p<0.05). 3. Adhesive resin reduced the microleakage of composite resin in both halogen light and plasma arc light(p<0.05).
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of tobacco curing on far infrared light on the quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves. Physicochemical characteristics such as alkaloid, total sugar, total nitrogen, starch, total phenolic compounds, browning degrees, and color differences, in cured tobacco leaves were compared between hot air and far infrared curing methods. There was no significant difference in sugar/nicotine ratio and nitrogen number between the curing methods, while the contents of ether extract and filling capacity were increase by far infrared curing. Therefore, it was expected that far infrared curing might be effective for high aroma and physical properties of the cured tobacco leaves.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the compensation effect of exposure duration increase to decreased light intensity of visible-light curing unit. The specimen with 2mm thickness was made of Restorative $Z-100^{TM}$ (A2 shade, 3M Dental Products, U.S.A.) and cured with $Optilux^{TM}$ (Demetron Research Co. U.S.A.). The light intensity was controlled to 420 $mW/cm^2$, 540 $mW/cm^2$, 630 $mW/cm^2$ and curing time, also, controlled to 40, 60, 80 seconds. Cured specimen was stored in a light-proof container for 24 hours to post-irradation was completed. Microhardness of top and bottom surface of specimen were measured to evaluate the depth of cure. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The microhardness of top and bottom surface of the composite resin specimen was increased significantly as light intensity and exposure time was increased (P<0.01). 2. Light intensity was more correlated with bottom microhardness(${\gamma}{\geq}$0.438) than top microhardness(${\gamma}{\geq}$0.213), and exposure time was more correlated with top microhardness (${\gamma}{\geq}$0.424) than bottom microhardness(${\gamma}{\geq}$0.335). 3. The regressive equation was obtained in this study as follows : $H=0.07{\times}D+0.012{\times}I+76$ (H : Microhardness(KHN), D : Exposure time, I : Light intensity)
