  • LRIs are identifier schemes for reliable information access. To achieve more reliable access to resource this study used existing bibliographic numbers, ISBN, ISSN, NBN as URM. For the purpose of this study, 10 study standards from the RUN requirement of function capability. coding capability, and URM framework were set. Under the standards examined existing bibliographic numbers can be used as URN and so URN resolution systems using existing bibliographic numbers were desisted.

  • Many countries make it their national policy to develop science and technology as the primary element in their overall national development, they concentrate on identifying gifted students in those areas and on educating them in special institutions. At this point the environmental factors in those educational institutions are highlighted. Of all these factors, a favorable and amenable environment of a library, the treasure - house of knowledge, is the most essential to the early achievement of the stated educational aims. Thus, this thesis describes the importance of educating gifted students, and then examines, compares and analyzes the factors involved in improving the environments of institutional libraries for gifted students ; finally, this thesis proposes the minimum and optimum standards for library facilities, personnel, collections, and budgets.

  • The purpose of this study is to research the concepts of reading ability and debate ability, and the components of both abilities and to make the performance assessment's standards to apply them to the classroom for reading debate in the school libraries. For doing this, I studied the necessity of reading debate, assessment, and the components of reading/debate abilities. The components of the reading and debate abilities were derived from the theoretical researches and the performance assessment's standards for the reading debate were proposed in the viewpoint of the teacher librarians and classroom teachers in the school libraries in order that the teacher librarians and teachers could apply them to the reading debate classes and assess the performance achievement of the students.

  • Objective of this research is to point out problems of geographic division structure in current Korean Decimal Classification System and provide solutions. For this purpose key classification methods were divided to decimal and non-decimal classification methods and analyzed for geographical division principles. In addition, national institutes regional division standards from Korea, USA and Japan were researched. Through these analysis, we provided suggestions to improve the table of geographical division in KDC4 including public institutions administrative district classification structure relations and consistency, and other regional divisional standards (proposal) instead of typical administrative district reflecting various geographical conditions.

  • This study intends to review the quality factors of library service for the disabled using user-centered approach. For the empirical review of quality factors, Nine quality factors were drawn after analyzing the current library service quality factors and the standards of library service for the disabled. Using these factors, The survey for identifying importance of factors and the qualitative evaluation of service cases were performed in this study. As a result of this survey, the most critical but relatively weak quality factors were facility, collection and staff factors. And the qualitative evaluation results of service cases indicated that the reading culture program and the information service factors were critical.

  • Today, we have often heard that information is a national resources, perhaps our most important national resources, and that government should recognize this and develop a national policy for the effective management and use of information. But traditionally the library has played a rather passive role in selecting, acquiring, preserving and transfering information. Now we have faced greater and much more diverse and more urgent demand from users and we have to cope effectively with a massive increase in volume and in cost in selecting, acquiring, storing and retrieving information. Individual libraries can no longer keep pace with the published outputs of the world. The solution of these problems lies in "national planning and in cooperation through inter-library cooperation and in the application of data processing to library operations." Also at the national level lies the responsibility for total bibliographic control of the national information output and for the interfacing of this with other national and international systems; for the development, adoption and maintenance of, standards in all areas affecting library work; for the provision of services based on centrally created and maintained bibliographic data files, and for planning and policy development of the national information system.

  • The research objectives of this study are twofold: to analyze affective dispositions in both 'Standards for the 21st-Century Learner(AASL, 2007)' and 'Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education(ACRL, 2015)'; and to look for implications from the two documents in information literacy instruction(ILI). A total of 18 and 38 affective dispositions were found in AASL(2007) and ACRL(2015) documents respectively. This study mainly discusses sequencing affective objectives and assessment techniques for the ILI. The affective dispositions found from the two documents will be a cornerstone of ILI in K-20.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a curriculum based on the National Competency Standards(NCS) to raise the higher professional staffs that can adapt to environmental changes due to globalization and local industry demands and to improve the quality of learning and to accept policy of the Ministry of Education. We conducted with the measurement of Educational performance by pre/post, 3 dignosis test. As a result, There were improvements in Educational Performance. Based upon Educational performance and analysis, several new directions for NCS education in the filed of LIS curriculum are suggested. We hope from this study that an application of NCS would be activated fully in Library, educational institutes and qualifying examination institutes and that diverse feedbacks from related parties would make a lead to a better updated version of NCS development in library.

A Study on the Illumination analysis and Improvement plan for the Public Library Environment (공공도서관의 환경개선을 위한 조도 분석 및 개선 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the appearance of the library has changed dramatically more than ever, and it is true that the spatial factor of the library is a big part of this change. The purpose of this study is to establish the criteria for improvement of the illuminance standard of library by comparing analysis of related workd related to illumination, survey, and illuminance related standards of each country. In order to achieve the purpose of research, we measured the illuminance and the users' perceptions of the 14 public libraries in the D region. Finally, the comparison of domestic and international illuminance standards should be improved in the future. As a result of the analysis, it is found that the domestic illumination standard (KSA 3011) needs to be supplemented in accordance with the environment and the case of each country. Also, it is necessary to recognize the importance of differentiation and illuminance according to the age group of users. This study is expected to be a basic research that will raise the interest of the overall illumination improvement and illumination management of the library in the future. In addition, it is expected that it will be a great power for the improvement of the environment including the illumination of the public library in Korea if the interest is maintained based on the revision of the domestic illumination standard in accordance with the revised tendency of overseas recommendation and the continuous research on the future illumination of the library.
