  • This study investigates the benefits consumers seek in buying and using bedding, sub-dimensions of lifestyle, and the relationship between those of the benefits and the dimensions of lifestyle. This study conducted a survey to verify benefits consumers seek in buying bedding. A questionnaire was developed to collect data to measure lifestyle, benefits sought for the bedding, and demographic variables. Research was conducted on married women aged between 20 and 59. Total 294 responses were analyzed using factor analysis, correlation analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA with SPSS 18.0. A factor analysis identified three dimensions of benefits sought for the bedding: utilitarian benefits, social benefit, and aesthetic benefit. Lifestyle consists of five dimensions: health seeking, social symbol seeking, leisure/country-living seeking, aesthetics seeking, and economy seeking. All dimensions underlying benefits consumers seek in buying bedding and all dimensions of lifestyle were correlated. As consumers get older, they tend to seek more utilitarian and social/psychological benefits of bedding.

They are highly practical fashion items that show a casual, street and sportive style with a noted influence on outdoor leisure fields. This study analyzes the sociocultural background for the spread of leggings as well as their design characteristics, coordination characteristics and authentic characteristics. The formative characteristics of modern legging designs are as follows. First, the shapes of modern leggings are ankle-length, calflength, above-knee, knee-length, stirrup and top of the foot-length. Leggings are transformed in many ways: length-expansion, side-slit, unbalanced length, variations of straps, cut-out, trimmings, pattern transformation and complex form. Second, modern leggings contain achromatic colors in modern and sensual image, vivid colors in sportive image and metallic colors futuristic and technical image. Third, leggings patterns value originality, uniqueness and rarity as shown by printed geometric patterns, hand crafted geometric and natural patterns, and abstract patterns expressed through various materials and themes. Fourth, modern leggings' textures are categorized into erotic, simply-functional, seasonless, glossy, and metallic. Functional and fashionable leggings reflect the psychological needs of modern society. This study suggests a direction for the development of legging designs and provides a theoretical database for higher value-added leggings business.

  • Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) evoke pacemaker activities in many tissues. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between interstitial cell and pacemaker activity in the human ureter through the recording of spontaneous contractions. Spontaneous contractions of eight circular and longitudinal smooth muscle strips of the human ureter to acetylcholine (ACh) and/or norepinephrine (NE) were observed. Human ureteral strips were divided into proximal and distal groups, and each group was subdivided into circular and longitudinal groups. The proximal group showed spontaneous activities of 3~4 times within 5 minutes in the longitudinal group. ACh ($10^{-4}\;M$) augmented the frequency of the spontaneous contractions. The cumulative application of NE also augmented the frequency in a dose-dependent manner. The effects of NE application were inhibited by concomitant application of $10^{-5}\;M$ glibenclamide. Receptor tyrosine kinase (c-kit) staining revealed abundant ICCs only in proximal tissues. Therefore, spontaneous contractions of the human ureter might be modulated by ICC in the proximal region, and the actions might be related with the activation of cholinergic and/or adrenergic system mediated by a glibenclamide-sensitive pathway.
