Effects of Rhodobacter sp. SA16 on Lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.) in Plastic Film House (시설 상추에 대한 Rhodobacter sp. SA16 처리 효과)

  • This experiment was conducted to determine the development of mixed organic fertilizer using photosynthetic bacteria and mass production of mixed microbial compound for the environment-friendly agriculture. Photosynthetic bacteria, Rhodobacter sp. SA16 was isolated from soil collected by plastic film house. The SA16 strain was identified based on 16S rDNA sequence analysis and it is closely related to Rhodobacter sp.(100% similarity). The mixed organic fertilizer using SA16 was made of $N-P_2O_5-K_2O=60-10-20\;g\;kg^{-1}$ with combined soybean cake, sesame cake, powdered blood, fish meal, powdered bones and red-yellow soil. The mixed organic fertilizer 0.45, 0.90 and 1.35 Mg $ha^{-1}$ application in Ihyeon series was treated based on soil testing for lettuce cultivation in plastic film house. These results showed that the yield was increased the 18 and 19%over control by the mixed organic fertilizer application 0.45 and 0.90 Mg $ha^{-1}$, respectively. In the physical properties of the soil, the porosity of mixed organic fertilizer 1.35 Mg $ha^{-1}$ treatment was highest at 58.8%. Our results clearly revealed that the organic fertilizer using Rhodobacter sp. SA16 and mass production of mixed strains could be a useful technology in pursuing environment-friendly agriculture.

Survey of Multi Residual Pesticides in Materials of Korean Traditional Herbal Tea (한방차 원료의 잔류농약 조사연구)

  • We analysed 149 samples of Korean traditional herbal tea materials. The 156 pesticides were analyzed by GC/ECD and NPD, detected pesticides were confirmed by GC-TOF/MS. Sample preparation was performed bv multi-residue analysis method of multiclass pesticides of the Korea Food Code. The residual pesticides were detected in 22 samples(14.8%), the highest detection frequency samples are lycium and jujube. Detected pesticides in Korean traditional herbal tea materials were chlorpyrifos (5 samples), chlorothalonil (3 samples), cypermethrin (3 samples), hexaconazol (3 samples) and cyhalothrin(3 samples). The pesticide types detected in Korean traditional herbal tea materials were organophosphorus(29.2%), pyrethroids(16.7%), organochlorines (12.5%) and triazoles(12.5%). The 5 samples(lycium, jujube, chrysanthemum, balloon-flower, milk vetch root) were detected pesticides below MRLs, 2 samples(cornus fruit, cnidium) were detected pesticides unnotificated MRLs.

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Korean Mint Agastache rugosa (Fisch & Meyer) Kuntze (Lamiaceae) Using ISSR Markers

  • Agastache rugosa, a member of the mint family (Labiatae), is a perennial herb widely distributed in East Asian countries. It is used in traditional medicine for the treatment of cholera, vomiting, and miasma. This study assessed the genetic diversity and population structures on 65 accessions of Korean mint A. rugosa germplasm based on inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. The selected nine ISSR primers produced reproducible polymorphic banding patterns. In total, 126 bands were scored; 119 (94.4%) were polymorphic. The number of bands generated per primer varied from 7 to 18. A minimum of seven bands was generated by primer 874, while a maximum of 18 bands was generated by the primer 844. Six primers (815, 826, 835, 844, 868, and 874) generated 100% polymorphic bands. This was supported by other parameters such as total gene diversity ($H_T$) values, which ranged from 0.112 to 0.330 with a mean of 0.218. The effective number of alleles ($N_E$) ranged from 1.174 to 1.486 with a mean value of 1.351. Nei's genetic diversity (H) mean value was 0.218, and Shannon's information index (I) mean value was 0.343. The high values for total gene diversity, effective number of alleles, Nei's genetic diversity, and Shannon's information index indicated substantial variations within the population. Cluster analysis showed characteristic grouping, which is not in accordance with their geographical affiliation. The implications of the results of this study in developing a strategy for the conservation and breeding of A. rugosa and other medicinal plant germplasm are discussed.

Mineralogical Studies on Sulfide Ore Species of the Tong Myeong Tungsten Deposits (동명중석광산산(東明重石鑛山産) 유화광물(硫化鑛物)의 광물학적(鑛物學的) 연구(硏究))

  • The skarn type tungsten deposits in Jechon area are developed in the contact aureole of Jurassic granodiorite and lower Paleozoic limestone beds. The Tong Myeong mine contains scheelitebearing skarns found at and near the contacts between crystalline limestone and hornfels. Although the skarns are heterogeneous, there are clear patterns in the preferred associations and nonassociations of minerals on all scales. The skarn show a zonal arrangement from limestone to hydrothermal vein as follow: wollastonite skarn, clinopyroxene skarn, clinopyroxene-garnet skarn, garnet skarn, and vesuvianite skarn. Scheelite, abundant in all skarn units except wollastonite skarn and also in quartz veins near orebodies, is everywhere strongly correlated with pyrrhotite. It is implied that it was a stable phase throughout the evolution of the zoned skarns, at least in pyrrhotite.forming environments. Deposition of scheelite was probably widely caused by increasing $a_{Ca^{2+}}$ in the fluid, resulting from associated and interrelated reactions: $FeCl_2\;aq+H_2S\;aq{\rightarrow}FeS+2H^{+}+2Cl^-$; and $CaCO_3+2H^+{\rightarrow}Ca^{+2}+H_2CO_3$. The spectral reflection powers of nine sulfide species were studied, for three mineralization stage. The shapes and characteristics of the spectral reflectivity profiles are significant in their control of other optical properties. The characteristics of the Vickers microhardness and the optical symmetry for the minerals studied are discussed. Broad radicle groupings of the sulfides can be made with regard to the reflectivity-microhardness values.

Effect of the Cone Index on the Work Load of the Agricultural Tractor (원추 지수가 트랙터 작업 부하에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the soil cone index (CI) on the tractor work load. A load measurement system was constructed for measuring the field data. The field sites were divided into grids (3×3 m), and the cone index was measured at the center of each grid. The work load measured through the plow tillage was matched with the soil cone index. The matched data were grouped at 600 kPa intervals based on the cone index. The work load according to the cone index was analyzed for engine, axle, and traction load, respectively. The results showed that when the cone index increased, engine torque decreased by up to 9%, and the engine rotational speed and brake-specific fuel consumption increased by up to 5% and 3%, respectively. As the cone index increased, the traction and tillage depth were inversely proportional to the cone index, decreasing 7% and 18%, respectively and the traction and tillage depth were directly proportional to the cone index, increasing 13% and 12%, respectively. Thus, it was found that the cone index had a major influence on the engine, axle, and traction loads of the tractor.

Chromium(VI) Removal from Aqueous Solution using Acrylic Ion Exchange Fiber (아크릴계 이온교환섬유를 이용한 수중 크롬(VI) 제거)

  • Ion exchange fiber, PADD was synthesized by the reaction between PAN based acrylic fiber and DETA with $AlCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$, and was analyzed by FT-IR and SEM to investigate its characteristics. The experimental results of Cr(VI) removal by PADD were better fitted with Langmuir adsorption isotherm, and the maximum uptake value ($Q_{max}$) was calculated to be 6.93 mmol/g. The kinetic data can be well described by Lagergen pseudo-second order rate model. The Cr(VI) adsorption capacity of PADD was 4.11 mmol/g at pH 2, which shows the effect of pH changes on the removal of Cr(VI). The adsorption selectivity of Cr(VI) was higher than phosphate and As(V). Total ion exchange capacity of PADD was 4.70 mmol/g, which was measured by acid-base back titration.

  • Aims of this study were carried out to develop the useful lines induced from mutation and pedigree breeding methods among the collected genetic resources from national and domestic areas. In this study, Stem height of CNU126 line and check among them were high, while CNU128 was lower than other lines. Spiklet length of CNU88 was longer, but that of CNU126 was shorter than check. Number of spiklets per plant of CNU50 among lines have twice time than check. 1,000 grains weight of CNU113 was higher than check. In yield per plant, CNU50 and CNU112 were higher than check, Dongjinbyeo.

Efficacy of Physostigmine and Procyclidine as Combinational Prophylactics of Organophosphate Poisoning (Physostigmine과 procyclidine으로 구성된 복합예방제의 유기인제 해독효능)

  • Antidotal efficacy of combinational prophylactics composed of physostigmine plus procyclidine, alone or in combination with antidotes such as atropine plus 2-pralidoxime or atropine plus HI-6, was evaluated in rats. Physostigmine (0.1 mg/kg) plus procyclidine (3 mg/kg), pretreated subcutaneously 30 min prior to subcutaneous exposure to organophosphates of militarily importance, exerted protection ratios of 7.2, 6.5, 4.0, 2.9 and 8.0 fold for tabun, saris, soman, cyclosarin and V-agent, respectively. In comparison, low effects (1.7 fold for soman and 1.3 fold for cyclosarin) were achieved with the traditional antidotes atropine (17.4 mg/kg) plus 2-pralidoxime (30 mg/kg) administered intramuscularly immediately after organophosphate, in contrast to high effects (5.5 fold for soman and 160.0 fold for cyclosarin) with atropine (17.4 mg/kg) plus HI-6 (125 mg/kg), although the protection ratio markedly decreased when treatment of antidotes was delayed. Note- worthy, the combinational prophylactics markedly potentiated the effects of antidotes to higher than 5.0 fold in all cases. In addition, the combinational prophylactics fully prevented the seizures and excitotoxic brain injuries induced by a high dose (100 mg/kg, 1.3 LD$_{50}$) of soman. Taken together, it is suggested that the prophylactics composed of physostigmine and procyclidine, in combination with posttreatment antidotes, could be a promising regimen for the prevention of lethality, seizures and brain injuries induced by organophosphates possessing diverse properties.s.

Effect of Lowered and Cycled Storage Temperature of Rice Cooker (낮고 반복된 저장 온도의 밥솥에서 밥의 색 및 미생물 성장에 미치는 효과)

  • To improve the quality of boiled rice after storage in rice cookers, temperature was controlled at a lowered condition ($45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ repeated temperature cycling), compared to the present commercial rice cookers ($75^{\circ}C$). The effect of lowered temperature cycling on the microbial growth, color of rice, and reducing sugar production was measured. The bacteria Bacillus cereus and B. subtilis were killed at $75^{\circ}C$ and $45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ cycling. The temperature cycling at $45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ prevented an increase in colony forming unit of E. coli more than the steady temperature at $75^{\circ}C$. Browning during storage was significantly decreased at $45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ cycling, compared to $75^{\circ}C$. The yellowness increase (${\Delta}b$ value of CIE parameters of the colorimeter) after the 3-day storage was 2.18 at $45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ cycling whereas 9.12 at $75^{\circ}C$. Reducing sugar was not produced at $75^{\circ}C$ and $45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ cycling but produced at $30^{\circ}C$ because of the microbial growth. In conclusion, the temperature cycling at $45{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ can improve the quality of stored boiled rice by decreasing the browning and inhibiting the microbial growth.

Water Use Efficiency in Rice(Oryza sativa L.) Plant Canopy (벼 군락(群落)의 생육시기별(生育時期別) 물 이용(利用) 효율(效率)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This experiment was carried out to clarify the evapotranspiration and water use efficiency in rice plant canopy. Two rice cultivars, Daechungbyo(japonica type) and Samgangbyo(Tongil) were planted on the field of Suwon Weather Forecast Station in 1989. Evapotranspiration, dry matter production and leaf area of rice plant were measured to investigate the water use efficiency. There was significant correlation between cumulative evapotranspiration and dry matter production of aboveground. The parameter of linear regression was 4.13. The ratio of cumulative top dry matter production per cumulative evapotranspiration was increased until $5.5{\sim}5.9$ leaf area index. The de Wit's "m" value revealed maximum record at heading-flowering stage. At the harvest, the values were ranged from 175.5 to 191.7. The parameter of cumulative solar radiation to dry matter production was $1.011{\sim}1.248$. The evapotranspiration ratio(g.water/g.DW) of Samgangbyo(278) was higher than that of Daechungbyo (299.9). The efficiency of evapotranspiration(g.DW/g. water) was 1.58 in Daechungbyo and 1.98 in Samgangbyo.
