Purpose : Nurses' knowledge regarding advance directives may affect their administration of and confidence towards end of life care. This study aimed to describe the relationships of knowledge, confidence, and learning needs with advance directives among hospital nurses. Method : This cross-sectional study was performed at a tertiary university hospital in Seoul between September 25 and October 14, 2017. Convenience sampling was used to recruit nurses who provided bedside care and had at least 1 year of clinical experience. We used a validated self-report questionnaire. Results : The mean score of knowledge, confidence and learning needs were $5.00{\pm}1.73$, $29.81{\pm}7.52$, and $64.54{\pm}8.48$ respectively. Hospital nurses' knowledge, confidence and learning needs were significantly different according to age, job position, educational level and perceived advance directives. Knowledge regarding advance directives was significantly associated with confidence (r = .27, p < .001) and learning needs (r = .16, p = .005). Conclusion : Knowledge regarding advance directives was relatively low compared to the findings of previous studies. Therefore, nurses should be knowledgeable and encouraged to initiate advance directives. It is necessary to develop a standardized educational program regarding advance directives based on Korean cultures.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the general hospital nurses' confidence about the advance directives (ADs). Methods : This is a descriptive cross-sectional study. A total of 105 nurses were asked questions about characteristics, knowledge, attitude, learning needs, and confidence the about ADs, using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results : The mean scores of knowledge were 7.26±1.47; attitude, 2.80±0.31; learning needs, 4.22±0.62; and confidence, 2.57±0.74. It was observed that knowledge had significant correlations with attitude (r=.43, p<.001), learning needs (r=.29, p=.003), and confidence (r=.40, p<.001), and attitude had significant correlations with learning needs (r=.31, p=.001) and confidence (r=.45, p<.001). Using multiple regression analysis, it was found that confidence was significantly influenced by knowledge (β=.27, p=.007), attitude (β=.21, p=.043), and experience of nursing or counseling a patient who wrote ADs (β=-.19, p=.046). The explanatory power of this model was 37.9% (F=5.16, p<.001, R2=.379). Conclusions : These findings suggest the need to develop a program to enhance nurses' knowledge, positive attitude, and experience of nursing or counseling a patient who wrote ADs.
Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of a blended-learning based bioethics program on perceived ethical confidence, critical thinking disposition, moral sensitivity, and academic self-efficacy of the nursing students living in S city. Methods: The program was conducted 13 sessions (2 hours/session) and evaluated for perceived ethical confidence, critical thinking disposition, moral sensitivity, and academic self-efficacy. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and paired t-test using the SAS 9.4 program. Results: The blended learning based bioethic program was found to be effective for perceived ethical confidence (t=8.70, p<.001), critical thinking disposition(t=8.96, p<.001), moral sensitivity (t=6.43, p<.001), academic self-efficacy (t=20.5, p<.001), and program satisfaction(t=4.92, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that a blended learning program including TBL has advantages of case-based discussion and active interaction for nursing students' bioethics education.

As a consequence of sudden outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, educational institutes around the globe are forced to switch from traditional learning systems to e-learning systems. This has led to a variety of technology-driven pedagogies in e-teaching as well as e-learning. In order to take the best advantage, an appropriate understanding of the cognitive capability is of prime importance. This paper presents an intelligent cognitive maturity recognition system for confidence-based e-learning. We gather the data from actual test environment by involving a number of students and academicians to act as experts. Then a Genetic Programming based simulation and modeling is applied to generate a generalized classifier in the form of a mathematical expression. The simulation is derived towards an optimal space by carefully designed fitness function and assigning a range to each of the class labels. Experimental results validate that the proposed method yields comparative and superior results which makes it feasible to be used in real world scenarios.
Utilizing the quantitative analysis methodology of questionnaire, the study explores the differences in the factors of achievement motivation, learning mathematics attitude and learning mathematics self-confidence and also the relationship between mathematics academic achievement and these factors in three areas in China. The following conclusions are drawn: 1. The subjects from different development level areas have significant differences in motivation, attitude and self-confidence in mathematics; 2. The subjects from different areas who possess the same ethnic group have significant differences. But the subjects from same area who possess different nationalities have little difference. It can be concluded that that the differences in these factors can be contributed to regional differences, rather than to ethnic differences; 3. The subjects from undeveloped areas have significant gender differences, and the levels of males are higher than those of female.
This study was attempted to verify the mediating effect of perceived interaction in the relationship between learning flow and problem-solving confidence of nursing students who experienced team-based nursing practice learning. The subjects of this study were 148 senior nursing students who experienced team-based nursing practice learning classes. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, hierarchical multiple regression analysis, and Sobel test were conducted. The results of the study showed that nursing students' learning flow was 3.58±0.56 points, perceived interaction was 4.06±0.56 points, and problem-solving confidence was 3.67±0.53 points on average. Learning flow of nursing students showed a positive correlation with perceived interaction(r=0.63, p<.001) and problem-solving confidence(r=0.74, p<.001). Perceived interaction showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between learning flow and problem-solving confidence(z=5.31, p<.001). It may be necessary to develop programs to improve nursing students' learning flow, perceived interaction, and problem-solving confidence, and to improve their clinical practice ability to solve nursing problems in various nursing settings.
Recently, Korean universities have increased the number of English Medium Instruction (EMI) lectures in order to allow students to gain both specialized knowledge and enhanced English ability. Previous researches on effective EMI lectures have focused on exploring the effects of learners' cognitive and affective characteristics on learning outcomes. Whereas the input variables of learning have been investigated as predicting variables of effects in EMI lectures, there has been a few research for investigating process variables to yield learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationships among variables affecting on learner satisfaction and effects. The participants are 209 engineering students from various majors. Independent variables are defined as English motivation, English competency, and English confidence, a mediated variable is Cognitive engagement, and dependent variables are Learning satisfaction and Educational effect perception. The results show that the relationships are statistically significant: learners' English competency & English confidence ${\rightarrow}$ Cognitive engagement ${\rightarrow}$ Learning satisfaction ${\rightarrow}$ Educational effect perception. Especially, the structural model confirms that the effect of learners' English confidence on Learning satisfaction and Educational effect perception is mediated by the level of learners' Cognitive engagement. Further, the implication for effective EMI lectures is discussed based on the observed research results.

In this paper, I developed a scenario-based admission management virtual reality (SAM VR) content for practical training for nursing students and verified the effectiveness. The SAM VR contents used in the study was developed by the researcher using Gear VR and smartphone according to the standard practical procedure suggested by the Korea Acreditation Board of Nursing Education and Evaluation. In the 30 experimental groups who received practical training using SAM VR contents, learning flow, learning confidence, and learning satisfaction increased statistically significantly after the practical training (p<.001). In the control group, who received practical training in the traditional way, learning confidence increased after the practical training (p<.005), but there was no change in learning flow and learning satisfaction (p>.005). It was verified that the SAM VR contents are effective practical education contents for nursing students' learning flow, learning confidence and learning satisfaction.
In this paper, we adjusted the feedback and learning materials for each learning based on ARCS motivation which applied DEVS methodology. We designed the ARCS professor-student model that expresses the continuous change in the student's attitude toward the class according to the student's attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. It was applied to computational thinking and data analysis classes Based on the designed model. Before and after class, the students were asked the same question and then analyzed for each part of the ARCS. It was observed that students' perceptions of Attention, Relevance, and Satisfaction were improved except for Confidence. we observed that the students themselves felt that they lacked a lot of confidence compared to other ARS through the analysis. Although, Confidence showed a 13.5% improvement after class but it was about 33% lower than the average of other ARS. However, when it was observed that students' self-confidence was 30% lower than other motivational factors it was confirmed that the part that leads C to a similar level in other ARS is necessary.
