Enhanced Machine Learning Algorithms: Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Q-Learning

  • In recent years, machine learning algorithms are continuously being used and expanded in various fields, such as facial recognition, signal processing, personal authentication, and stock prediction. In particular, various algorithms, such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and Q-learning, are continuously being improved. Among these algorithms, the expansion of deep learning is rapidly changing. Nevertheless, machine learning algorithms have not yet been applied in several fields, such as personal authentication technology. This technology is an essential tool in the digital information era, walking recognition technology as promising biometrics, and technology for solving state-space problems. Therefore, algorithm technologies of deep learning, reinforcement learning, and Q-learning, which are typical machine learning algorithms in various fields, such as agricultural technology, personal authentication, wireless network, game, biometric recognition, and image recognition, are being improved and expanded in this paper.

A Study on Learning Behavior, Learning Motivation and Satisfaction of Engineering Students in e-Learning (공과대학생의 이러닝 강좌 수강행태, 수강동기, 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to give the preliminary data and suggestion for introducing and spreading e-learning engineering education through analyzing learning behaviors, learning motivations, and satisfaction of e-learning engineering students. Especially, this comparative study analyzes each research domain according to majors and grades, thereby suggesting more specific and practical results. 2,745 students registered in 38 subjects of e-learning in 2 Universities were analyzed for this study. The study result shows that engineering students are attending around 2 e-learning subjects with a duration of about 30 minutes once a week. The main of learning motivation for e-learning was not easy test level and feasibility of acquiring credit but advantages of e-learning such as freedom of time and space, learning by repetition. The satisfaction scores of e-learning were lower compared to the aspects of system and contents Based on these results, first, an active spread of e-learning to engineering education is necessary because the demand from the engineering students is high enough and they have desirable learning behavior and learning motivation for it. Second, the characteristics of grades need to be taken into consideration on operation of e-learning. Third, a successful e-learning process needs more meticulous and active operation.

Trends and Future Directions of Corporate e-learning Contents (기업교육 이러닝 콘텐츠의 동향과 발전 방향)

  • Purpose - One of the biggest problems in the e-learning distribution process is the lack of quality content and learners' discredit in e-learning content. In order to respond to the various demands of the corporate education field appropriately, it is necessary to search for directions of new e-learning models that are out of traditional e-learning contents. The purpose of this study is to identify recent trend issues related to corporate e-learning and to suggest directions for development. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on the literature review, trend issues that should be considered important in corporate e-learning were derived. Online survey was conducted to evaluate the importance-feasibility of each issue to 13 experts on e-learning and corporate education. The contents of the questionnaire are as follows: 1) recognition of importance and feasibility of trend issues to be considered important in the future corporate education field; 2) factors to be considered in developing future e-learning contents. Results - Six trends derived from a comprehensive literature review. The most important e-learning trends for corporate education field were 'mobile learning', 'micro learning', 'blended learning', 'social learning', 'adaptive learning', 'engaged learning'. As a result of evaluating the importance and feasibility of each issue, experts point out that 'mobile learning' and 'micro learning' should be actively considered for introduction and utilization at present. In addition, 'social learning' and 'blended learning' need to be actively considered in the near future. On the other hand, experts recognized that 'adaptive learning' and 'engaged learning' need to be prepared from a long-term perspective. Conclusions - There are two main reasons for this result. First, in corporate e-learning, it is important to 1) be able to update on time, 2) the connection with the workplace is important. Second, it requires realistic verification of the expected performance of the learning model. To be considered part of the future are as follows: First, the value and effectiveness of the new e-learning type should be studied. Seconds, e-learning contents should be developed through adopting SAM or Agile methodology. Through this process, we would be able to enhance the quality in e-learning content.

The Effects of Intrinsic Motivation, and e-Learning Strategies on Learning Satisfaction of Nursing Students in Blended e-Learning Environment (블렌디드 이러닝(Blended e-learning)환경에서 간호대학생의 내재동기, 이러닝 학습전략이 학습만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of intrinsic motivation and e-learning strategies on nursing students' learning satisfaction in blended e-learning environment. Method: The survey was performed with 111 undergraduate nursing students who have taken community health nursing in 1 university. The data was collected by questionnaires and were analyzed with the IBM SPSS statistics 20.0, using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression. Results: The mean score for intrinsic motivation was 3.25, for e-learning strategies, 3.56, and for learning satisfaction, 3.69. Significant positive correlation among intrinsic motivation, e-learning strategies, and learning satisfaction. The regression model explained 41.4% of learning satisfaction. Both intrinsic motivation and e-learning strategies were significant predictor of learning satisfaction. Conclusion: In order to improve the learners' learning achievement and learning satisfaction in blended e-learning environment, intrinsic motivation should be strengthen and e-learning strategies should be developed.

Learning style, Learning attitude, and Self-directed Learning ability in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 학습유형과 학습태도 및 자기주도적 학습능력)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to explore the influencing factors on self-directed learning ability of nursing students and to investigate the relationship between learning style, learning attitude, and self-directed learning ability. Methods: The study sample was composed of 263 nursing students. Data were collected from March 8th to April 7th, 2011 using a questionnaire which included Kolb's learning style inventory, learning attitude inventory, and self-directed learning ability inventory. Results: Learning styles of the subjects were assimilator 33.8%, converger 31.9%, accommodator 24.7%, and diverger 9.5%. There was no significant difference in learning styles among grades. However, the total mean score of learning attitude (F=8.30, p<.001) and self-directed learning ability (F=2.85, p=.038) significantly differed among grades. Learning attitude positively correlated to self-directed learning ability (r=.62, p<.001). Learning attitude was the most significant predictor and accounted for 36.5% of the variance in self-directed leaning ability in nursing students. Conclusion: It is important for students to use all four learning styles rather than to rely solely on one style. There should be more emphasis placed on the development of positive learning attitude and self-directed learning ability of nursing students.

Learning Styles and Preferred Learning Methods of Clinical Nurses (임상 간호사들의 학습유형과 선호하는 학습방법과의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine learning styles and preferred learning methods of clinical nurses. Method: Data were collected from 735 nurses at one university hospital in Seoul. Learning style inventory, a self-report questionnaire was completed by the subjects. Result: Learning styles of nurses were accommodator 35.9%, diverger 30.4%, converger 18.2%, assimilator 15.5%. Learning styles varied significantly with clinical practice area and academic background. Furthermore, RO(reflective observation) learning mode varied significantly according to the clinical practice area. AC(abstractive conceptualization) learning mode varied significantly with job position. AC and AE(active experimentation) learning modes varied significantly according to the academic background and preferred learning method. Preferred learning methods were lecture 24.8%, clinical practice 23.1%, self-directed learning 21.5%, audiovisual education 16.7%, and group discussion 13.9%. Preferred learning methods varied significantly with learning styles and career. Lecture was preferred in diverger and self-directed learning was preferred in assimilator. Clinical practice was preferred in accommodator and converger. Conclusions: This study suggested that clinical education should be applied to nurses after examining learning styles and preferred learning methods. In conclusion, to identify the nurses' learning styles could be helpful for developing the effective educational skill.

r-Learning and Educational Information Policies (r-Learning과 교육정보화 정책)

  • The Education has responsibility for predicting the social changes and cultivating global talent which the society needs. The ministry of education, science and technology in govern ment has been the concerns on social educational changes and thus built the '5 31 educational reform policy' in 1995 by the educational reform committee. As a solution of a social change, this paper reviews the three-phase educational information policies, and e-learning and u-learning which are the main technologies in educational information. Also, the technologies of e-learning can be divided into m-learning, t-learning, u-learning, r-learning, game-based learning according to the contents mass media. Among them, this paper introduces the concept of robot-learning, called r-learning, and compares it with u-learning.

The Effect of Cooperative Learning Method on Learning Accomplishment and Attitude of Home Economics (협동학습이 가정과목의 학습성취도와 학습태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze on the result of learning accomplishment and attitude between two groups to certify the application possibility of the cooperative learning method in home economics education. This inquiry was investigated by two classes 95 students. of the first glade in high school a commercial girl’s high school located in Anyang city of Kyonggi province, and then classified in a cooperative learning group and a traditional learning group respectively, then the 6th lessons progressed, and the difference of results of the learning accomplishment and the learning attitude according to each group was analysed with the post tests of the learning accomplishment and the learning attitude of two groups. The results of this study are summarized as follows. (1) Three subordinate positions, which are knowledge, understanding and application field of learning accomplishment between the cooperative learning group and the traditional learning group. it highly and the traditional learning group it highly showed in comparison with the traditional learning group. (2) There are not any statistically significant difference in the attention- concentration field of learning attitude between the cooperative learning and the traditional learning groups, but the cooperative learning group in the learning method and the self learning field highly showed.

  • This study aims to determine the effect of changes in learning systems and its effects on students' learning outcomes amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample of this study are the students who are in Jakarta, Indonesia. "Non-probability random sampling" technique has been used to select the samples while the sampling method used is "purposive sampling", where criteria are used to select samples. The samples in this study are 200 people taken randomly using Google Form. Concentration ability and learning interest can affect learning outcomes with the mediation of learning comfort and a good learning environment. As well as physical distancing can moderate the effect of concentration ability and learning interest on learning outcomes. The ability to concentrate on improving learning outcomes requires psychomotor improvement. Whereas interest in learning with indicators of learning awareness can improve learning outcomes. A clean environment is a strength in the learning comfort and the community environment can be recommended in the learning environment. The implementation of the restriction of gathering becomes an important point of physical distancing. The other novelties are the learning comfort and the learning environment as mediating variables and physical distancing as moderating variables in one study at a time.

A Case Study of Flipped Learning in Calculus of one Variable on Motivation and Active Learning

  • Information Technology influenced on classroom to change the teaching and learning method. Recently, flipped learning method became a hot issue in education by using Information Technology. Learning management system that is introduced in our university in the spring semester 2015, made it possible to apply flipped learning method. So, we used the flipped learning method in a calculus course. In this paper, we found that flipped learning in Calculus we was a little bit affirmative in the aspect of motivation and active learning from students' response on flipped learning method. We analyzed the reason that students were not so positive in continuing flipped learning even though they liked flipped learning a little bit better than traditional learning. We suggest what we pay attention to for applying the flipped learning method effectively.
