Plasmon subwavelength nanostructures enable the structurally modulated color due to the resonance conditions for the specific wavelength range of light with the nanoscale hole arrays on a metal layer. While the unique properties offered from a single layer of metal may open up the potential applications of integrated devices to displays and sensors, fabrication requirements in nanoscale, typically on the order of or smaller than the wavelength of light in a corresponding medium can limit the cost-effective implementation of the plasmonic nanostructures. Simpler nanoscale replication technologies based on the soft lithography or roll-to-roll nanoimprinting can introduce economically feasible manufacturing process for these devices. Such replication requires an optimal design of a master template to produce a stamp that can be applied for a roll-to-roll nanoimprinting. In this paper, a master mold with subwavelength nanostructures is fabricated and optimized using focused ion beam for the applications to nanoimprinting process. Au thin film layer is deposited by sputtering on a glass that serves as a dielectric substrate. Focused ion beam milling (FIB, JEOL JIB-4601F) is used to fabricate surface plasmon subwavelength nanostructures made of periodic hole arrays. The light spectrum of the fabricated nanostructures is characterized by using UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer (Agilent, Cary 5000) and the surface morphology is measured by using atomic force microscope (AFM, Park System XE-100) and scanning electron microscope (SEM, JEOL JSM-7100F). Relationship between the parameters of the hole arrays and the corresponding spectral characteristics and their potential applications are also discussed.

We present a new design method of one-dimensional multi-layered acoustic foams for transmission loss maximization by topology optimization. Multi-layered acoustic foam sequences consisting of acoustic air layers and poroelastic material layers are designed for target frequency values. For successful topology optimization design of multi-layered acoustic foams, the material interpolation concept of topology optimization is adopted. In doing so, an acoustic air layer is modeled as a limiting poroelastic material layer; acoustic air and poroelastic material are handled by a single set of governing equations based on Biot's theory. For efficient analysis of a specific multi-layered foam appearing during optimization, we do not solve the differential equations directly, but we use an efficient transfer matrix approach which can be derived from Biot's theory. Through some numerical case studies, the proposed design method for finding optimal multi-layer sequencing is validated.

A serpentine channel geometry often used in a fuel cell has a strong pressure gradient between adjacent channels in specific regions. The pressure gradient helps some amount of reactant gas penetrate through a gas diffusion layer(GDL). As a result, the overall serpentine flow structure is slightly different from the intention of a designer. The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of serpentine flow structure on current density distribution. By using a commercial code, STAR-CD, a numerical simulation is performed to analyze the fuel cell with high aspect ratio of active area. To increase the accuracy of the numerical simulation, GDL permeabilities are measured with various compressive forces. Three-dimensional flow field and current density distribution are calculated. For the verification of the numerical simulation results, water condensation process in the cathode channel is observed through a transparent bipolar plate. The result of this study shows that the region of relatively low current density corresponds that of dropwise condensation in cathode channels.

Nowadays, composite plates are widely used as high-strength structures to fabricate a dynamic loading-resistant armours. In this study, the shock load is applied by an explosion of spherical TNT charge at a specified distance from the circular composite plate. The composite plate contains a two-layer ceramic-metal armour and a poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) target layer. The dynamic behavior of the composite armour has been investigated by measuring the transferred effective stress and maximum deflection into the target layer. For this purpose, the simulation of the blast loading upon the composite structure was performed by using the load-blast enhanced (LBE) procedure in Ls-Dyna software. The effect of main process parameters such as the thickness of layers, and scaled distance has been examined on the specific stiffness of the structure using response surface method. After validating the results by comparing with the experimental results, the optimal values for these parameters along with the regression equations for transferred effective stress and displacement to the target have been obtained. Finally, the optimal values of input parameters have been specified to achieve minimum transferred stress and displacement, simultaneously with reducing the weight of the structure.
A one-dimensional eddy diffusion model and a mixed-layer model are developed and applied to simulate the vertical temperature profiles in lakes. Also the running results of each method are compared and analyzed. In an eddy diffusion model, molecular diffusivity is neglected and eddy diffusivity which does not need lake-specific fitting parameter and constant lake's level are applied. The heat exchanges at the water surface and the bottom are formulated by the energy balance and zero energy gradient, respectively. In a mixed-layer model, two layers approach which has a constant thickness is adopted. Application of these models which use explicit finite difference an Runge-Kutta methods respectively demonstrates that the models efficiently simulate water temperatures.
Recently, layered nickel-rich cathode materials (NCM) have attracted considerable attention as advanced alternative cathode materials for use in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, their inferior surface stability that gives rise to rapid fading of cycling performance is a significant drawback. This paper proposes a simple and convenient coating method that improves the surface stability of NCM using sulfate-based solvents that create artificial cathode-electrolyte interphases (CEI) on the NCM surface. SOx-based artificial CEI layer is successfully coated on the surface of the NCM through a wet-coating process that uses dimethyl sulfone (DMS) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as liquid precursors. It is found that the SOx-based artificial CEI layer is well developed on the surface of NCM with a thickness of a few nanometers, and it does not degrade the layered structure of NCM. In cycling performance tests, cells with DMS- or DMSO-modified NCM811 cathodes exhibited improved specific capacity retention at room temperature as well as at high temperature (DMS-NCM811: 99.4%, DMSO-NCM811: 88.6%, and NCM811: 78.4%), as the SOx-based artificial CEI layer effectively suppresses undesired surface reactions such as electrolyte decomposition.
Two hundred and sixteen single comb white egg layers of the White Leghorn hens of 24 weeks of age were randomly allocated to 12 groups with three replications of six hens in each. Hens were fed in a factorial arrangement 2${\times}3{\times}$2, on diets containing either 16 or 18% crude protein with 0, 3 or 6% fish meal, replacing groundnut meal with soybean meal. Soybean meal incorporation improved (p<0.05) egg production, feed intake, feed conversion efficiency and egg weights. Egg quality traits of specific gravity, shape index, albumen index, yolk index and shell thickness remained unchanged. Laying performance was significantly (p<0.05) better at 18% than on 16% dietary protein level. Use of fish meal linearly improved egg production and feed conversion efficiency on diets supplemented with groundnut meal and fish meal incorporation showed quadratic improvement on feed conversion efficiency with SBM diets at 16% dietary protein level. Therefore, use of soybean meal as substitute of groundnut meal is recommended in layer diets, at 16% dietary protein level and fish meal incorporation could be beneficial for layers.

Layered double hydroxides(LDHs) [{{{{ {Mg }_{1-x } }}{{{{ {Al }_{x } }}({{{{ {OH}_{2 } }})]ζ+({{{{ {CO }`_{3 } ^{2- } ){ }_{x/2 } }}$.${{{{ { yH}_{2 }O }} wioth variation of layer charge densitywere synthesized by co-precipitation methdo since their charge densities have a very important role to be det-ermined the physicochemical properties of layered materials. The XRD IR and thermal studies of them were discussed and the kinetic study for the decarbonation reaction was also carried out. From the results of XRD analysis we found that the lattice parameter and the unit cell volume were linearly decreased with the amount of Al substituents(x) in the vicinity of x=2∼10${\times}$1/3${\times}$10-1 but they had nearly constant values when the x are far from these vicinit. The activation energies for the decarbonation reaction of x=6.8, 10${\times}$1/3${\times}${{{{ { 10}^{-1 } }} were estimated to be 47.0, 37.6, 39.3 kcal/mol The specific surface areas(90-120 m2/g) of stable hy-drotalcite-type LDHs were dractically decreased with increasing of layer charge density.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) provides self-limiting processes based on chemisorption-based reactions. Such unique features allow for superior step coverage, atomic-scale control in thickness, and surface-dependent reaction controls. Furthermore, the surface-limited deposition enables the artificial deposition of oxide and/or metallic materials onto the porous systems as long as the supply is guaranteed in terms of time in providing reactant species and removing the byproducts and redundant reactants. The unique feature of atomic layer deposition is applied to solid oxide fuel cells whose incorporates two porous cathode and anode compartments in addition to the ionic electrolyte. Specific materials are deposited to the surface sites of porous electrodes, with the aim to controlling the triple phase boundaries crucial for the optimized SOFC performances. The effect of ALD on the SOFC performance is characterized using current-voltage characteristics in addition to frequency-dependent impedance spectroscopy. The pros and cons of ALD-controlled SOFCs are discussed toward high-performance SOFC systems.
