상용주파수 교류방전 $CO_2$ 레이저의 동작 특성 (A Study on the Operational Characteristics of $CO_2$ Laser Excited by 60Hz AC Discharges)

  • In this study, it is the purpose to develope a cheap and compact $CO_2$ laser and to apply 60 Hz AC discharges as a new exciting source. An axial and water cooledtype was adopted as the laser mode. The laser performance characteristics as various parameters, such as gas pressure and discharge current, have been investigated. And the laser output and the efficiency of DC and 60 Hz AC discharge-exciting type have been measured and compared for the different input powers at the static operational pressure. As a result, the case of 60 Hz AC discharge-exciting type, the laser oscillation began at the condition of operational pressure 6 Torr and discharge current 5 mA. A maximum laser output of about 32 W was obtained at an operational pressure of 18 Toorr and a discharge current of 30 mA. In addition, the laser output was saturated from an operational pressure of about 14 Torr and a discharge current of about 20 mA. In this $CO_2$ laser, the laser output of 60 Hz AC discharge-exciting type was slightly higher than that of DC discharge-exciting type. And the laser efficiency was about 10 to 13% for the various operational pressures and the discharge currents.

  • LLC resonant converter is used to control laser power density in ruby laser power supply. Zero voltage switching(ZVS) is implemented to minimize the switching loss by the LLC resonant converter. Laser output power is investigated and experimented by changing the output current. That current is controled by the charging voltage of capacitor. From those results, we obtained the maximum laser output of 1.94J at the discharge current of 860A and the pulse repetition rate of 1Hz.

  • 本 論文에서는 半導體 레이저를 使用하여 헤테로다인 光通信 方式을 具現시키기 爲하여 必要한 半導體 레이저의 發振周波數 安定化 시스템을 이제까지의 周波數 安定化만을 考慮한 方式에서 光出力 安定化를 爲한 歸還回路를 追加하므로서 旣存의 周波數 安定化만을 考慮한 方式에서보다 周波數安定度를 約5倍 改善시켰다.

  • In this paper, the circuit of AC Choppers for $CO_2$laser Power Supply are proposed and investigated. IGBT-controlled ac voltage regulators, operating at high frequency chopping mode. Chopping-to-supply duty ratio plays an important role in terms of laser output. Laser input energy is varied by controlling the leakage transfomer used with the proposed system. This improved circuit employs a 3 electrode-type and Ring Blower. This improved circuit system has many advantages compared with the conventional SMPS such as simple design requirment, easy implementation, high reliability, low switching loss, and consequently high efficiency. As a result, the maximun output was 16W at duty-ratio of 92%, total gas mixture of $CO_2$: $N_2$: He = 1 : 9 : 15, total pressure of 15torr.

  • A pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used widely in many applications such as materials processing, communications, military and medical instruments. It is important to control the laser energy in those fields with using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In this paper, constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge inverter and feedback control circuit are used to have output stable. This laser power supply is designed and fabri which was isolated. Also, this study is used an one-chip microprocessor, SCR, current transform A stable output of this Nd:YAG laser system investigated. The tested results are described.

  • 광 공진기내에 음향광학소자(AOM)를 사용하여 FSF(Frequency-shifted feedback) 레이저를 개발하였다. 공진기는 1차 회절광에 의한 feedback loop로 구성된다. FSF 레이저 출력은 수백 PHz/s의 초고속 주파수 chirp을 갖는“chirped frequency comb”이라 불리는 주파수 출력을 보여준다. FSF 레이저를 광원으로 광거리 계측에서는 chirped 주파수 comb을 이용하여 거리를 알 수 있다.

Compact, Wavelength-selectable, Energy-ratio Variable Nd:YAG Laser at Mid-ultraviolet for Chemical Warfare Agent Detection

  • We have developed a compact, wavelength-selectable, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at mid ultraviolet for chemical warfare agent detection. The fundamental wave at 1064 nm is delivered by a pulsed solid state laser incorporating with a square-type Nd:YAG rod in a resonator closed by two crossed Porro prisms for environmental reliability. The output energy at 213 nm ($5{\omega}$) and 266 nm ($4{\omega}$) by ${\chi}^{(2)}$ process in the sequentially disposed BBO crystals are measured to be 6.8 mJ and 15.1 mJ, respectively. The output wavelength is selected for $5{\omega}$ and $4{\omega}$ by a motorized wavelength switch. The energy ratio of the $5{\omega}$ to the $4{\omega}$ is varied from 0.05 to 0.85 by controlling the phase matching temperature of the nonlinear crystal for sum-frequency generation without change of the output pulse parameters.

  • Ti:sapphire 레이저로 펌핑하는 연속발진 Nd:YAG 레이저의 출력 특성과 Cr$^{4+}$:YAG 결정을 포화 흡수체로 이용하는 수동형 Q-switching된 Nd:YAG 레이저의 평균 출력, 펄스폭 및 반복률 등의 특성을 조사하였다. 그 결과 Nd:YAG 결정에 입사되는 Ti:sapphire 레이저의 펌핑 출력이 850 ㎽일 때, 연속 발진 Nd:YAG 레이저의 출력이 450 ㎽로 측정되어 출력 기울기 효율이 약 56%로 계산되었다. 또한, 초기 투과율이 90%인 Cr$^{4+}$:YAG 결정을 이용하여 수동형 Q-switching된 Nd:YAG 레이저 출력이 200㎽로 측정되었고, 이때의 펄스 반복률 및 펄스폭은 각각 23.8 KHz 및 17.0 ns로 측정되었다.되었다.

고주파 공진현상을 이용한 CW CO2 레이저의 출력리플 최소화 (Minimization of a CW CO2 Laser Output Ripple by using High Frequency Resonance Phenomena)

  • In a conventional DC power supply used for CO2 laser, the circuit elements such as a rectifier bridge, a current-limiting resistor, a high voltage switch, energy storage capacitors ans a high-voltage isolation transformer using high turn ratio are necessary. Consequently, those supplies are expensive and require a large space. Thus, laser resonator and power supply should be optimally designed. In this paper, we propose a new power supply using high frequency resonance phenomena for CW(Continuous wave) CO2 laser (maximum output of 23W with discharge length of 450mm). It consists of a transformer including leakage inductance, magnetizing inductance and half-bridge converter, a three-stage Cockcroft-Walton and PFC(Power factor correction) circuit. The output ripple voltage can be controlled the minimum of 0.24% under the high frequency switching of 231kHz. Furthermore, the output efficiency was improved to 16.4% and the laser output stability of about 5.6% was obtained in this laser system.
