  • In general turret servo system is subject to influnces by disturbances and uncertain modeling errors, which result from large dynamic characteristics and high-spedd operation. In this paper the influences of such disturbances and modeling errors are analyzed quali- tatively for the linerar approximation model of turret servo system, and then LQG/LTR control theory is applied to linear approximation model in order to design a controller which satisfies robustness/stability for the modeling errors. Finally the performance and robustness of designed controller for the given plant are verified through the simulation.

  • In order to control systems which are dominantly subjected to modeling errors and uncertainties, control strategies must deal with the effect of modeling errors and uncertainties. Since most of control methods based on system mathematical model, such as LQG/LTR method, have been developed mainly focused on stability robustness, they can not smartly improve the transient response disturbed by modeling errors and/or uncertainties. In this research, a fuzzy PID control method is suggested, which can stably improve the transient responses of systems disturbed by modeling errors as well as systems not entirely using mathematical models. So as to assure the effectiveness of suggested control method, computer simulations are accomplished for some example systems, through the comparison of transient responses.

  • In this paper, a robust MRAC (model reference adaptive control) scheme is applied to control an electrohydraulic positioning system under various loads. The inverse dead-zone compensator in the control system cancels out the dead-zone response, and an integrator added to the controller provides good position-tracking ability. LQG/LTR (linear quadratic Gaussian control with loop transfer recovery) closed-loop model is used as the reference model for learning the MRAC system. LQG/LTR provides a systematic technique to design the linear controller that optimizes the objective function using some compromise between the control effort and the system performance in the frequency domain. Different external load tests are performed to investigate the effectiveness of the designed MRAC system in real time. The experimental results show that the tracking performance of the proposed system is highly accurate, which offers considerable robustness even with a large change in the load.

  • Al-Co/AlN-Co multilayer films with different layer thicknesses were prepared by using a two-facing target type D.C sputtering (TFTS) system. The deposited films were annealed isothermally at different temperatures and their microstructure, magnetic properties and resistivity were investigated. The magnetization of as-deposited films is very small irrespective of layer thickness. It was found that annealing conditions and layer thickness ratio (LTR) of Al-Co to AlN-Co can control the microstructure as well as the physical properties of the prepared films. The resistivity and magnetization increase and the coercivity decreases with decreasing LTR. High resistivity and sufficient magnetization were obtained for the films with LTR = 0.35. Films having such considerable magnetization and resistivity will be a potential candidate to be used for a high density recording material.

  • Due to the increasing demands in comfortable drivability, most motor companies are developing their own unique shift controller to suppress the shift shock induced by gear change. For a typical automatic transmission system, the dynamic constraints of friction clutch was clarified for efficient program development and major factors effecting the shift transient was confirmed by simulation study. The MIMO LQG/LTR controller was designed to control the turbine and corresponding gear speed. By establishing the control strategy recalling transient response during shift the speed controller mentioned above was used as an indirect torque controller. Consequently a new concept for a systematic design method of shift controller applicable to wide-varying systems was suggested which is time efficient and cost efficient saving a lot of experimental study.

  • To investigate the effect of light intensity on the growth of shoots and roots, water and chlorophyll contents in the ginseng leaf were determined at 5%, l0%, 20%, 30% light transmittance rate (LTR) with 1,2 and 4 year-old ginseng plants in the field. Stem length, size of the leaf, water and chlorophyll contents were decreased as the increase of the light intensity in all ages of ginseng plants. The degree of decrease was severe in the one year-old ginseng compared to that of 2, or 4 year-old ginseng, while there was no difference between the 2 and 4 year-old plants. Root weight per plant was highest at 5% LTR in the one year-old plants, while it was at 20% LTR in the 2 and 4 year-old plants. Generally, demand of light for the growth of one year-old ginseng was lower than those of 2 or 4 year-old plants there was no difference of it among the ginseng plants older than 2 years.

  • To gain information on retrotransposons in the genome of Paragonimus westermani, PCR was carried out with degenerate primers, specific to protease and reverse transcriptase (rt) genes of long-terminal-repeat (LTR) retrotransposons. The PCR products were cloned and sequenced, after which 12 different retrotransposon-related sequences were isolated from the trematode genome. These showed various degrees of identity to the polyprotein of divergent retrotransposon families. A phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that these sequences could be classified into three different families of LTR retrotransposons, namely, Xena, Bel, and Gypsy families. Of these, two mRNA transcripts were detected by reverse transcriptase-PCR, showing that these two elements preserved their mobile activities. The genomic distributions of these two sequences were found to be highly repetitive. These results suggest that there are diverse retrotransposons including the ancient Xena family in the genome of P. westermani, which may have been involved in the evolution of the host genome.

  • Active vibration control method for the reduction of vibration of structures have been developed. For the application of real structures active control system that has robustness must be designed because the mathematical model incompletely described has intrinsically modeling error. In this research we propose LQG/LTR method in designing control system with robustness. A combination of acceleration feedback and model-order reduction technique is used for the application of real structures and the computation efficiency. In case of such structures as the building and the tower the inter-story relative displacements represent an important constraint in seismic design. Therefore selection method of design parameters is also proposed in order to reduce the inter-story relative displacements.

  • In this paper, a composite controller cosisted of bandpass feedback controller and LQG/LTR controller is applied to a quarter-car model moving on a randomly profiled road. The LQG/LTR controller is used to achieve a design transfer toop. A bandpass feedback controller is adopted to eliminate the response due to the disturbance, which generally can not be measured, confined within an interested frequence range. The random road profile considered as colored noise is shaped from white noise by use of shaping filter. The performance of the composite control system is compared with that of an LQG/LTR control system.
