열처리 채소의 MAP에 적합한 포장재 구명

  • 본 연구에서는 풋고추, 대파와 깻잎에 물리적인 장해를 주지 않고 저장성을 향상시킬 수 있는 열처리 조건을 설정하고, 열처리한 채소의 MAP에 적합한 포장재를 검색하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 대파를 55$^{\circ}C$ 온수에서 1분 침지하고, 풋고추와 깻잎은 5$0^{\circ}C$ 온수에서 10초와 5초 각각 침지하면 저장 중 관능적 품질이 비열처리한 대조구보다 우수하게 나타났다. 열처리한 채소의 호흡속도는 비열처리 채소에 비하여 30~45%정도 상승하였다. 열처리 채소의 MAP에 적합한 포장재를 검색하기 위하여 기체 투과도가 서로 다른 포장재 LDPE, CPP, PD900, MPD2055, SM60에 열처리한 채소를 포장한 후 1$0^{\circ}C$에서 4주간 저장을 하였다. 포장 표면에 5mm의 구멍을 뚫은 대조구와 핀홀이 있는 SM60은 저장 2주 이후 부터 중량감소가 심하게 일어났다. 깻잎은 포장내부의 $CO_2$ 농도가 높게 유지되는 CPP에 포장할 때, 저장 2주부터 $CO_2$ 장해로 인하여 표면의 갈변과 연화가 심하게 일어났으며, 풋고추는 저장 3주부터 표면의 색상이 약간 붉은 색을 나타내기 시작하였다. 열처리 풋고추와 깻잎을 MDPE 포장에 저장을 하면 각각 저장 4주와 3주까지는 시장품질의 한계선으로 신선도가 유지되었다. 그러나 대파는 포장 내부의 $CO_2$ 농도가 높은 CPP에 포장할 경우 발근이 억제되며 저장 4주까지 시장품질 이상을 유지하였다.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the commercialized packaging status of tomato and paprika, and to investigate the effect of different packaging materials on the quality of tomato and paprika during storage. Packaging statuses were surveyed at a department store, wholesale market, and supermarket in Seoul, Korea. Materials used for packaging tomato and paprika were cartons, polypropylene (PP), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polystyrene (PS), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Tomato and paprika were packaged by using corrugated boxes, Styrofoam trays, PP film, and PVC film. The weight loss and hardness of non-packaged tomato and paprika were significantly different after 48 hr to the initial values (p<0.05). Box-packaged tomatoes had the lowest pH values and showed significantly higher soluble solid contents (p<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in among other packaging materials. For paprika, the ${\Delta}E$ values of PVC wrapping were higher than those of other packagings. Hence, the results demonstrated that a corrugated box with PP film and PP film bags with four holes plus wire-tying were most able to maintain the overall qualities of tomato and paprika, respectively, during storage.

  • Weight loss of cucumber packed with corrugated paperboard box after 7 days storage at 20oC was 4.9%, and those of 20LD, 40LD film and EPS box were 0.8, 0.7, and 0.8%. Total ascorbic acid content of EPS was 15% higher than that of control. Hardness of EPS was also similar trend. Chlorophil content of cucumber packed with EPS box was 21% higher than that of control. Decay of control was 1-2 pieces per box, but the others was not found. Overall appearence of LD, EPS was better than that of control.

  • Weight loss of pear packed with corrugated paperboard box after 50 days storage at $20^{\circ}C$ was 4.4%, and those of 20LD, 40LD film and EPS box were 0.8-0.7%. Ascorbic acid content of EPS was 20% higher than that of control. Hardness of EPS was also similar trend. Titratable acid and total soluble solid content of pear were not different among the packages. Decay of control was 1-2 pieces per box, but the others was not found. Overall appearences of LD, CE and EPS were better than that of control.

  • This study was performed to investigate the optimum moisture content and the best packaging method of dried persimmons for long term storage at room temperature. The package material to be used were 0.05mm polyethylene film, Wrap film, 0.08mm LDPE film exchanged nitrogen gas, and non package for untreated control. Before the storage, the initial moisture contents of dried persimmons were treated with 40%, 35% and 30%, respectively; 40% as traditional dryness, 35% as extending dry period one more week, and 30% as for two more weeks. The best package method was 0.08mm LDPE film exchanged nitrogen gas, and the optimum moisture control was 35%

  • Effect of nitric oxide (NO) treatment on physiology and quality characteristics of peaches (Prunus persica L. Batsch) was determined. Peaches were treated for 4 hr with NO (0, 10, 100 ppm) gas under oxygen-free atmosphere at $10^{\circ}C$, packaged with 0.05-mm LDPE film, and stored at $10^{\circ}C$ for 15 days. Treatment with 100 ppm NO reduced the ethylene production and the loss of flesh firmness in peaches, but did not affect soluble solids, titratable acidity, and surface color. Oxygen-free atmosphere induced the reduction of respiration rate and ethylene production. Modified atmosphere packaging retarded the loss of flesh firmness and surface greenness, but decreased soluble solids and titratable acidity regardless of NO treatment.

Quality of Dreid Persimmon to the Pre-treatment and Packaging on Low-temperature (전처리와 포장방법에 따른 곶감의 저온저장시 품질 변화)

  • The dried persimmons is produced fungi and develop browning, hardening in circulation at normal temperature. To resolve such problem in commercial value preservation, the research was conducted to measure the quality changes of dreid persimmons depending on pre-treatments and packagings at low temperature ($0^{\circ}C$) during 6 month storage. The rate of weigh loss, fungi, browning, hardening, surface chromaticity were changed a little in the "Cinnamon" pre-treatment and N/LDPE.

Characteristics of Fatigue Resistance of Recycled Asphalt Concretes by Modified Mixing Process (재생 아스팔트 콘크리트 혼합물의 혼합방법 개선에 따른 피로저항 특성)

  • This study evaluated the fatigue resistance characteristics of hot-mix recycled asphalt mixtures which were prepared by a new blending method. Since the binder of RAP shows higher viscosity without being rejuvenated in the ordinary recycled mixture, this new(modified) blending method was developed for obtaining more uniform level of binder viscosity in the recycled mixture. Cold-planned RAP was collected and mix design was performed using 15% RAP content for two virgin aggregate, gneiss and granite. Penetration grade of 60-80 asphalt was used in mixing recycled mixture together with a polymer modifier, LDPE. Indirect tensile fatigue tests were carried out to evaluate characteristics of fatigue resistance of performance of recycled asphalt mixtures. The recycled mixtures with LDPE 6% showed higher repeated loading fatigue life. Fatigue life ratio of new(N) mixing method mixtures was approximately 0.6-0.7 before aging and 0.8-1.0 after aging treatment of ordinary(O) mixing method mixture. This means the N mixture becomes stronger with aging process increase. If further aging is treated, N mixture may be showing stronger resistance than O mixture.

Freshness Maintenance of Polyethylene Film Containing Surface-modified Zeolite (표면 개질된 제올라이트를 포함한 폴리에틸렌 필름의 선도유지기능)

  • Freshness maintenance of polyethylene packaging film containing surface-modified zeolite was investigated depending on the nature of substituted cations and cationic surfactants. Freshness maintenance was designed to work by cation or cationic surfactant adsorbed onto the zeolite surface by ion-exchange method. Cationic surfactants such as DODAB (n-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide), CTAB (n-cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), and DHAB (n-dihexadecyldime-thylammonium bromide), and cations ($Ce^{3+},\;Al^{3+},\;Mg^{2+},\;Ca^{2+},\;Ag^{3+},\;Na^{1+}\;and\;Cu^{3+}$) were used. Surface-modified zeolite powder was compounded with LDPE to produce $20\;wt\%$ zeolite masterbatch (M/B), and the M/B was again blended with LDPE to get zeolite-containing LDPE films with 3, 5, $10\;wt\%$ of zeolite (width: 40 cm, thickness: $40\;{\mu}m$). Mechanical properties of zeolite-containing LDPE films generally decreased with increasing zeolite content. However, cationic surfactant-modified zeolite film showed the better mechanical properties compared to cation-modified zeolite film. As for the freshness maintenance, the zeolite-containing films modified with cationic surfactants or cations ($Al^{3+},\;Ag^{3+}$) showed the best performance.
